No need to give anyone a shout. The resort tells you when you book tee times.

This is the copy from every reservation email sent out to every one who has booked a tee time at Bandon resort.

"If you have booked in a Pace Setter Tee Time(s) (first hour-and-a-half of tee times each day), the expected pace-of-play is 4:00 hours or directly behind the group in front of you. If you or your group are unable to meet this standard, we will be happy to find a tee time more appropriate for your desired pace."

The overall pace of play has gone up at Bandon. 5+ years ago they rarely had to enforce pace of play and you could get around under 4:20, even on the windiest, nastiest days. Now, it's a slightly different mix of customers who may not place a premium on finishing in 4 (or 5) hours. The caddies do everything they can to keep the pace up but they have to balance tips vs. pissing off customers.

As someone going to Bandon for the first time in October, when is the first tee time each day? How do I know if my tee times fall into the first hour and a half?

Usually 7:00 I believe.

The best moment I've seen at Bandon is a caddie yelling at another caddie that his group was too slow. The best part was that the group heard it. They were at least a hole and a half behind and were just playing like idiots. They huffed and puffed but picked up the pace.

We may or may not have had a few Benjamins pooled for our caddie (who did the yelling).

Just got back from my first trip up there with a buddy. All I can say is that it lived up to all the hype, which I find is so rare these days. The property and the courses exceeded my expectations.

My favorite course was Pacific Dunes. Just an epic golf course from start to finish. Close second was Bandon Dunes, followed by Trails, and then Old Mac. Did not have time to play Sheep Ranch this trip. I’ve played Pebble many times and I would rank Pac Dunes above it in my book.
