I've owned a GcQuad, Full Swing Kit, and Protee VX here's my take

For those of you considering what to do here's my take on all of them. 

 

 

I first owned a GC Quad. I loved the accuracy and portability of it. I didn't really like foresights software. 

 

I absolutely hated the stickers. I got rid of the unit because I would never apply all 4 stickers to get data so basically all I had was an overpriced GC3/Bushnell. I had one practice club that I used inside with all 4 dots but putting dots all over everything was a big turn off. If you only play inside or are inside 90% of the time or more it likely is not an issue but if you bounce back and forth like me its a non starter. 

 

 

Then I got a Full Swing Kit. Loved the accuracy and portability of it too. The software is very minimalistic and useful and easy to pick up on.

 

I actually tested this against a trackman and it was dead on accurate even indoors AS LONG AS you use RCT balls and had 10 feet to screen and 10 feet of space from ball to unit. I mean carry distances less than 2 yards, spin less than 30 revs different, ball speed within 1 mph. It was great. I had to ship my unit back once, the customer service was incredible.  

 

I hated the space required and I also wanted additional data that trackman and Gc Quads provide without the stickers such as dynamic loft, face impact location, dynamic lie, etc. 

 

If you are going to need a portable unit and have the space indoors and don't want data overload this is a perfectly good unit. 

 

My issue is it doesn't read short chips less than 30 yards carry or so and it doesn't read putts like a trackman does. You cannot truly work on short game with it which to me is huge. 

 

 

So I got a Protee VX. 

 

I installed this thing yesterday. It basically is an overhead Gc Quad that REQUIRES NO STICKERS. 

 

The data seems spot on based on my numbers. The data is instantaneous, there is literally no lag. But most importantly ALL the data is there. Everything you want to know is there. 

 

It will read a two foot chip. It will show you a replace of face coming into impact from above which is amazing. It will read putts and show you how your putting path and face which is HUGE. 

 

If you don't need a portable unit I could not recommend anything more than this thing. My only reservation is if I set up a trackman behind it and the data is way off but I can't imagine that it will be. It seems dead on based on what I know of my numbers and I know my numbers pretty damn well. 

 

 

I came very close to buying a used trackman, the R50, and another Quad and just dealing with numbers. Unless I run into major bugs or inaccuracies I can't imagine regretting going this route. It is truly the best of both worlds.

This solidifies my desire to upgrade my GC3 to the GCQuad. I don't really see any value in the monitors one dot mode vs one dot mode.

Thanks for the insights.  I've been looking at sim packages and here's something that's very tempting....the Full Swing KIT package from Shop Indoor Golf is $5000.  That includes the LM, screen enclosure, Projector, mat, everything.  The regular price of the Full Swing KIT LM is $4500 alone.  I'm considering ordering that but just adding the ProTee VX for $6500 to use for indoor.  Then I'd basically have the Full Swing KIT LM for outdoor use for the same price (within $1000) of a regular ProTee VX sim package.

 

So are they just giving away Full Swing KIT LMs?  Am I missing something here?  Obviously the FS KIT has issues indoors compared to other but outdoors it seems solid.  I can't find the con in this right now.

Wow looks that way..  Also includes a year of GS pro and a free e6 perpetual package… you can also upgrade to a 4x7 sig pro softy for $249.. thanks for pointing it out but I seems almost too good to be true
