Need a suggestion for a short course in Phoenix

I'll be in town all next week for vacation. I already have tee times lined up at Southern Dunes and Quintero (PM me if you want to join and I'll let you know the times). I want to get one extra round in, but just something short, like a par-3 or exec course. I've found a few that might work, but I figured it was worth checking with the locals before I book it. The ones I was leaning toward are Greenfield Lakes and Grass Clippings. Any thoughts on these two, or alternative suggestions? I'm open to whatever, but courses on the southern end of town are probably better.

My Phoenix/Scottsdale geography isn't great, but Mountain Shadows is fantastic.

I just looked them up and it does look awesome, but they want $100+ ($129 on the day I wanted) to play a par-3 course. That's a tough price to swallow. Surely, it can't be that great, right?

Greenfield lakes is not worth a visit. It’s the kind of place you take your <10 year old to learn the game. 

 

grass clippings has caught a craze with night golf but I haven’t been yet. 
 

I haven’t played the cub course yet, but Bear creek cub course may fit the bill for what you are looking for.

Augusta Ranch-Exec. Just played it. Greens in great shape. Lots of wet/muddy areas around the greens. Only 1-2 holes you can hit driver.

Bear Creek cub course-Exec. Desert course. Usually in fair shape. Has 3-4 driver holes.

Aguila-9 hole par 3 with free replay. Walking only.

Bear Creek Cub looks good, and it's definitely less of a drive (I'll be in Casa Grande). I'm likely to go ahead with that, barring any other ideas...

Mountain Shadows is really good... is it worth $100? No. But it's not worth $100 in the same way that Quintero isnt really worth $250. Golf in phoenix is just stupid expensive. 

 

Bear Creek is like $60 to ride.. Mountain Shadows is absolutely twice as good as bear creek. The place is just a vibe and it does have really great views of Camelback mountain.

 

Mountain Shadows is the only really pretty exec course in the valley.  Plus its in a cool part of phoenix with a lot going on

Since you are in Casa, Ironwood is a good option.  It’s better than Bear Creek or some of the others around.

Its just ok.  Id say its worth $50.  But id rather play Mtn Shadows for $100

Just another idea - it's definitely not the greatest short course out there, but if you end up needing to keep travel time to an absolute minimum, there is a 18-hole par 3 course in Casa Grande called Palm Creek right off I-10.

The Wigwam west of Phoenix in Litchfield has a fun short "Blue" 6k course.  The other two, Red & Gold, are fun long courses.

Don’t sleep on greenfield lakes, we’ve totally changed course conditions from the past, greens and conditions are very good! Play with me and I can get you a discount too haha

 

perks of greenfield are that it has 2 par 5’s, 4 par 4’s so you can still rip driver a few times 

 

I’m headed in for lessons but I’ll post some pictures of current conditions, we sprigged the greens for overseed and it’s super healthy

Mountain Shadows is the easy answer, even at 100+ dollars. Great course that's always in great shape and sits in a really beautiful setting. Mulligan 9 is terrible, Grass Clippings is ok but its novelty is night golf. Now if you can get out on the Bad Little 9 I'd jump all over that.

Played Grass Clippings last night for the first time under the lights. Greens were awesome. Had a lot of fun and would recommend.

We played Continental today. Scruffy but served its purpose. Twelve one-shotters and six par fours.

 

$12 for a large bucket and the new mats were pretty good to hit off of. Course rough around the edges but I was expecting that so no issue. Pace was decent, staff friendly. Good sand in the practice bunker.

 

Is Mulligan 9 at Starfire better, worse, or the same?
