New bag means finally getting around to posting my WITB here. I played very frequently and sometimes competitively through my D3 college golf career before barely touching a club until around age 38. Came back sort of post- covid with my college sticks (think 905R, 695CB, Vokey Spin Milled) and slowly upgraded. Looking back I have an almost entirely new set up from the beginning of 2024 which was as follows:

 

TSR2 10* Ventus TR Blue 6s

4-PW T100S Project X 6.5

48*10F Vokey SM9 Chrome Project X 6.5

Driver: 

While my overall experience was really good with the TSR2 I found that moving from the TSI3 and previous experiences with Titleist drivers I was struggling to work the ball left to right. It was a bit too spinny for me and I struggled with flighting the ball in the wind. So, when the GT line came out I jumped on a GT3 10*to finish out the season. It’s been a huge improvement with a 5-10 mph jump in ball speed, better carry, and more control. I started out using the Ventus TR Blue from the TSR2 but have since moved to testing a Ventus+ Red 6s vs. a Ventus+ Black 6s. Winter sim time to decide what I roll with into 25’ but I might just keep both and play the Red when I want a little more carry.

FW/Hybrid:

Honestly had no good reason to change this up. As with most, finding a 3 metal that I trust and hit well is a unicorn and shouldn’t be fussed with other than when necessary and I hit my TSI3 really well. Then I found a really good deal on a GT3 and figured why not test it out and I could recoup when the TSI3 inevitably held its spot in the bag. Well the GT3 didn’t change anything in the looks dept and I gained some speed. So, the TSI3 went to the brother in law. Straight shaft changeout into the GT3 and I’ve been hammering it. 3 metal continues to be a club I always feel comfortable over.

TSR2 stayed in the bag amid some competition from the U505 2 iron. Will post my backup clubs separately.

 

Irons:

I really enjoyed the T100S and it was a combination of finding a great deal/wanting better gapping towards the bottom of the bag that got me into a combo set.

 

4-5 iron T150 KBS Tour X

6-9 iron T100 KBS Tour X.

 

I’ve found that I get a little more feel out of the KBS Tour vs the Project X. I started off using the T100 PW but wanted to experiment with a Vokey. Frankly, I didn’t hit my irons well at all towards the end of 24’ but I can’t blame the clubs and plan on gaming these for a long while. 
 

Wedges:

Moving out of the SM9 was definitely about getting more effective gapping vs any issue with the performance of the clubs. Went into SM10 50*08F a 54*10S and a 60*04T all with KBS 610 S+ which I have found really scratch my itch for a heavy wedge shaft that’s really allows me to flight. Really felt like I started ticking all the yardage boxes with this setup and gave me more versatility around the greens with the 50-54-58 than the 48-53-58 where the 58 was an auto-grab. 

Most recent addition is an SM10 46*10F with a KBS Tour X. Shaft to match irons and I’ve really enjoyed this change from the stock T100 PW. Finding better distance control as I rarely hit a full PW and less risk of the balloon ball PW that haunted me.

Putter:

The BB1F was a beautiful thing but just never had the makes in it I was looking for. Picked up a Phantom 5.5 and while it may face some competition from an old faithful style from my past (more on that in the backup club post) it’s kept its spot in the bag. I make a lot of putts with it and if only I could get a real lag putting feel from a mallet it wouldn’t have any challengers. 

Bag:

Have been a Ping bag guy my whole life but as my 2+ year old all white Hoofer-Lite lost it’s luster I thought it might be time to expand my horizons. Spent a couple rounds in a Jones Rover Stand and while I loved the look and the features I realized I just like more storage and the reality is I’m a push cart guy now. So, cue the Titleist Linkslegend. Haven’t had it out on the course yet but loving it’s looks and storage options as I set it up.

Nice looking setup, practical and your local Titleist rep will love you. Concerning the Linkslegend, it’s not a bad carry bag. It’s not the most ergonomic bag but it’s not an awful chore to lug it around.

I've got the Linkslegend in navy and it's treated me well - have alternated between that when walking and a typical Bag Boy for my push cart. Sweet looking set up!

GT3 15* Ventus TR Blue 7x
I impulse ordered the new GT1 3Tour 14.5* after smoking it at the PGA Superstore not realizing it wouldn’t ship until early August, so I am currently 3 Wood-less. More to come when it arrives

 

TSR2 18* Ventus Black HB 8x

Hasn’t been fully replaced but now splitting time with a Cobra Darkspeed 21* 7w HZRDUS 6.5 70g.  Gives me a lot more height with same distance. Still working on getting it dialed in but I’ve really enjoyed having this club in the bag so far. 
 

T150 4i KBS Tour X

Honestly, this club was never an issue for me, have always been relatively confident with my longer irons. However, stumbled across a T200 4i MMT 105 TX for super cheap and had to give it a shot. It does everything the T150 did with a little more pop when I want to hit it off the tee and more height into greens. Kind of a no brainer switch for me. 
 

Vokey 60*04T

Not a surprise, this just wasn’t a good fit for me. I’m more of a 58 guy so, I put a Vokey Japan Forged 58*10M in the bag and I’ve really been enjoying it from the fairway and around the greens. First club I’ve ever built up with KBS 610 S+ and a BBF Ferrule.

 

Phantom 5.5 34in.
Just started off the year putting like sh*t. Switched to a Scotty Del Mar, putted like sh*t.

Back to a mallet now in the Taylormade Spider Tour Z3 34in KBS, putting a little less like sh*t. Think I might just be an insert guy especially for lag putting.

Lastly, switched into a Vessel Sunday III DXR. Loved my Linkslegend, I just like the option of carrying and don’t need all that storage and not a pleather guy at the end of the day. Also, with 3-4 golf trips a year I wanted to be kind to my caddies and make it a bit easier to travel. Added some alignment sticks with the express purpose of putting my Olympic Club alignment stick cover to use, haha.
