If I ever get my clubs, I’ll let you guys know how they compare to my blueprint S’s. FedEx being FedEx, they were supposed to be here yesterday and they were delayed a day (as every shipment with them is) and when I pulled up the tracking, they are now randomly two states away from me. I don’t know how any major logistics company can be worse at logistics…….

I haven’t gotten a package from FedEx delivered on time in over a year

I don’t mean this as an exaggeration….. I’ve literally NEVER received a package from them on time. Usually, it is a minimum of 1 but usually 2 days after the initial date. This time, they just out FedEx’d themselves.

For those of you that have hit both, what are your thoughts on the ZXi5 vs P770? I’m down to these two as my next irons (I didn’t get along with the ZXi7). Loft for loft they seem to be equal in ball speed and distance. I was  swinging well at my fitting and didn’t have many poor strikes so couldn’t judge off center hits. How do these compare?

All things equal, I’m leaning towards P770 because of looks. But would sway towards ZXi5 if they retain ball speed better.

Here we go! I'll be breaking them out tonight after work for their first range session. Interested to try out a little more offset in the long irons! They look great.

interesting that many of the ZXi iron members are ordering / using Cleveland wedges. I know the companies are related but I always found Cleveland to be the least common wedge brand over the last few years. Dont get me wrong, I game them for the last 3 years and I think they are good. but Vokey has my eye wandering again...lol.

Haha thanks man! Definitely went a little expensive with the Dormie covers but they are SO premium. Like easily worth the 120 (with discount)... plus I'm a green guy. I tried to use a 54 straight up for probably the past year or so and just don't find it as versatile as my 56 used to be when I was running 52-56-60 (like many of us) so we settled on this 54-10-S bent 1 weak. Little more bounce and 5 degree gaps which is really what I was striving for. The 9i and Pw in the ZXi7's are 1 strong so it's essentially 40-45-50-55-60 which just fills an OCD hole in my brain haha.

Well, they are truly as buttery as y'all say. Working on some swing stuff right now after some hip/back issues late last season, so not a 100% striking day, especially coming off winter - i'd say like a 7/10. First thing i'm noticing is that they aren't as "firm" feeling as the P7CB on mishits. Like if you heel one, toe one, or catch a little low in the blade, you're not getting that ringing feeling through the hands. Maybe that's just something i've experienced - not too sure. My ZXi7's and my P7CB's both have the same shaft and grips as well, so nothing there to change the feels. They honestly remind me of my Fourteen TB7's feel wise which makes sense as those were S20C. They sound so good when you catch the middle with some compression. Like you didn't even hit the ball. Definitely a pass on the 1st range session cut. Unfortunately it's rained here for the last few days which meant it was mats only, so wasn't able to really feel the V sole. But I don't imagine i'd hate that given how much good feedback i've seen and I do tend to hit down quite a bit depending on the day. They're very easy to force a draw or throw some cut spin on a ball so i'd say these are definitely workable, even in the short irons for anyone thinking about doing a Z-Forged combo. Will keep the thread updated but yeah they're definitely in the bag. My clean set of P7CB's may just get thrown on the classifieds in a week or two after i've hit these on grass.

VERY NICE!

Yeah understood on the gapping.  Whatever fills you with confidence is most important.  I can feather my 54 all the in between yardages, and on-course I typically have these approach yardages for some reason, so the 54-60 gap seems to be just fine. (confidence thing again).

Curious about the P7MC feel vs the ZXi7 - as someone who played the ZX7 last year for a few months, but I have a lot of interest in the P7CB for a few reasons.  (Indoor) testing I spin the P7CB more appropriately.  I find the spin in the Srixon to be very low even taking into consideration the strong lofts.  Last season I distinctly remember hitting an 8 iron into a green more than once and having it hop forward on the green about 10 paces.  Buddies would beat me to the green and say "oh man, your pitch mark was right by the pin but it released"

Can't have this coming from Mizuno MP221's just before those ZX7's.

I was still eyeballing these ZXi7's and was hoping some early testers would say they're noticing more spin.  But haven't heard that yet - so I was considering weakening them 1°, but in my calculus, even that may not make up the extreme spin differential I was seeing loft for loft.

Still undecided so your opinion is interesting.  I'm a sucker for feel.

I just went to a fitting yesterday where I hit both of these. To me it was a non contest. I preferred the zxi5 as I gained 3 mph ball speed and it just felt better to me. I preferred a longer blade length and with the lower cg they also flew higher when I hit and compared both. To me, there was minimal difference in the 770 and cb and I wanted a bit more help. I felt they got through the ground a bit better too.

Hope this helps.

cleveland has always had a great rep for wedges.  And the fact many think these RTZ bring back memories and thoughts of the original GOAT the 588 is obviously a factor as well.

I don't know if its the hype but I just cant seem to feel how these are softer than the MKii.  They look exactly the same to me and seem to give me the same numbers.  Hit them with the Modus 120s and they were better.  Liked the numbers and feel but can't see the improvement over last generation.  Not a bad thing, these irons are just that good and hard to improve upon I guess.  I may experiment with either the SF 110 or the Axioms when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

Took about 50 swings with the ZXi5 7i demo head today and I’ve never seen the number “174” so many times in one session. The consistency was really really impressive.

They look really good, feel really good (better than the previous generation) and seem to perform really well too.

I tried it with a KBS C-Taper 110S and a Nippon Tour 105X and both shafts performed very similarly for me. Hit a little bit more of a cut with the Nippon. Kept seeing the same shot shape and distances and by no means am I a phenomenal iron player. Irons are the weakest part of my game.

Also, I should probably have added-

I hit the ZXi7 as well and didn’t feel any difference from the previous gen. Which isn’t a bad thing at all.

But I did notice that spin was pretty low with the ZXi5. Somewhat concerningly low. The 174 yards I kept hitting with a very tight fade and couldn’t get spin above 4900rpms. Hit a draw and spin was around 3600 (this one carried about 182).

My CHS was around 85mph, ball speed around 117-120, launching around 16-18 degrees. Height was around 92-100ft and land angle was around 45-48 degrees. My buddy who’s a teaching pro and very good fitter told me not to worry too much about spin if the height and land angles were right.

I currently have i530’s (very strong lofts, high launching and also low spin) but just bought them a few weeks ago and I’m not too crazy about them. Was thinking of ZXi5’s to replace them.

dont forget, spin numbers off a matt will be lower vs turf (lots of studies showing 1000-1500 rpms lower at the 7i). conversely, launch angle off a matt will also be higher vs turf. I just got my ZXi5 irons yesterday and I will post up some 7i numbers from this vs the ZX7 mk 1 which is the set I am replacing.

What’s the difference between puring

40-44 inch graphite wood or hybrid shaft

34-38 inch steel iron shaft (ala tiger)

34 - 38 inch graphite iron shaft
