Mitsubishi/Titleist TENSEI™ AV White AM(2) Iron Shafts

I tested into these shafts and loved them, but I can’t buy them new without Titleist heads.
 

The Mitsu site says the AV Series White is relatively low launch and spin with firm tip, mid, and butt sections. 

 

Golfshaftreviews.info doesn’t have information on the irons but does have the driver profile. Is it safe to assume that the iron profiles have a similar shape? 
 

Grateful for anyone’s feedback on this shaft and for recommended alternatives to test. I know this one is ascending mass but I’ll live without it or use lead tape if I get curious.

I have sets of Tensei AV Red, Blue & White AM2, stiff.  My favorite is Tensei AV White AM2, still have Tensei AV White Am2, 90g "S" in my 718 T-MB 2 iron.  My T200 17' 2i has Tensei AV Raw White Hybrid 90 "S", high bend too.  Played them in 620 MB heads for a few years. 

 

All the Tensei AV shafts are nice, but AV White S is STOUT, like my PX 6.0, I'd call them S+.  What makes AV White AM2 unique, it's high bend, and stiff tips, low launch, low spin, not a design seen in the vast majority of composite shafts, add Aluminum Vapor fibers, they feel very different.  The weight range for White is 2i-90g to W-108g.  I would NOT say they are like the Driver profile, but similar, like the AV Raw White in my 2 iron.

 

You are correct, can't get any of the AV series graphite without buying Titleist heads.  Several years back, Titleist contracted for the all inventory rights of those 3 color shafts.  Nobody else sells them.

Just checked eBay and not much but high priced pulls. 
 

I think I’ve seen you over on the maltby forum, have you thought about trying the Maltby MPF iron shaft, or the Aldila NV iron shaft? The Maltby would be a cheap experiment.

I'm a fan of Maltby and GolfWorks--even made the trek to Ohio for a fitting. The Mitsu MMT felt mushy to me. KBS Tour Lite fit best--on that day. Then came golfer's elbow and a commitment to switching to graphite to prevent a recurrence. I'm preparing to test the Maltby MPF and a few others in that price range once I heal. But my concern is their relatively light weight, the heaviest of which tops out at 85g. The Tensei tops out at 108. I'm coming from TT Score LT at 117.

Yes the MMT has one of the softer profiles for heavier iron shafts. Unfortunately the heavier graphite iron shafts are not as plentiful to choose from. 
 

If you’re wanting heavier and stiffer then aerotech is probably one of the best options. 
 

i remember Britt mentioning in the forum that he was gonna add another heavier weight to the MPF this year.
 

You could also run some lead tape down the back of the shaft. Start it just below the grip and run it down lengthwise. You can pick up some weight this way. it’ll raise your swing weight slightly bit not like adding all the weight directly to the head.

Unfortunately not.  It's quite possible they are, but it doesn't always work out that way.

 

As for adding weight to a shaft, I did what Mr Cole suggests below with a set of parallel graphite, in order to mimic constant weight.  I might add a bit more as the 95g raw shaft weight is proving to be borderline too light for me, in weight terms.

 

There aren't a lot of heavier options out there, that are relatively modest for flex.  Steelfiber i110 can be found in regular flex, but they have a higher balance point and swingweight a few points lighter.

 

If something close to DGS (in flex terms) would work for you, you could look at the Fuji Pro in Tour Spec Stiff, at 115g.  It's a parallel shaft.  GolfWorks doesn't carry it, but it can be found at Grips4less and GolfShaftsAmerica.
