What's the difference between this ball and the last one? Did they fix the seam wear issue?

Big thing is the diamond is now in yellow. Now I am intrigued.

They've been improving their Spin Skin every generation, I've yet to see any seam issues myself and I put a pounding on the ball so for me as long as they perform I'm happy, my one wish is a touch more spin the with XV greenside cause I'd use that one way more if it did.

Interesting. I sometimes play the diamond and the seam wear happens to every single ball I use. I dont think it effects the performance, but it looks nasty.

Always have liked the performance of the Diamond, but the durability wasn't there with the seem issue.  Srixon says they made the cover more durable in the 2025 model with a new urethane and Spin-Skin.  I will be giving the 2025 Diamond a test with the 2025 Pro V's and see how they hold-up.

From what I read on the Dunlop site the regular z star now has 88 compression this should hopefully get rid of the marshmallow feel. Definitely has my interest

That does sound good and I'm also interested.  I don't like paying $50 for a dozen balls though.

On Srixon’s site it did say more greenside spin was a performance update to the XV. I’ve been playing the diamond for 2 years over the XV because of the better spin around the greens. I’m going to give the new XV a try when it warms up.

That's good to know, hopefully true. The XV i love it all besides green side and the Diamond i mostly love green side.

I know I'm asking for a unicorn here, but is there a ball that spins a little higher on driver, but less with full irons?

 

I tend to have low spinning drives, but high spinning irons so trying to find a ball that evens both those out without exacerbating one or the other.

Tough. It is why the recommendation is to work the ball from the green back - because most people fix driver spin with shaft, loft, and setup/swing. I personally would rather have spin and take it off, so, tee'ing the ball up higher for a high-knuckle fade. If you simply want spin off the irons and more on the driver, it sounds like XV would be your ball and adjust driver accordingly.

Srixon states they are taking driver spin off the 25 Diamond and making it a tad softer. This ball might get even better!

I have played the Diamond previously and always like the ball, but have been playing the left dash for a bit now. I am still not 100% sure where the Diamond fits, I believe its higher compression than the XV but feel softer? In the Srixon lineup what is "supposed" to be the lowest spinning ball with driver?

I believe the compression of the XV and Diamond are the same--(I'm not sure about the new models about to launch)--but the Diamond spins more and feels a bit softer. The XV is their lowest spinning ball off the driver.

2025 Compression per Srixon

XV: 102

Diamond: 100

XV is still supposed to be the lowest Driver spin golf ball. Diamond is supposed to get a touch softer for the main purpose of lowering driver spin.

They generally go on sale a couple times a year. In Canada I can get them for about 30- 35$ a box (~25USD). This makes them the best value on a tour ball IMO.

 

that said I’ll take the cosmetic changes ( yellow 💎 yes please). I expect only the smallest changes in performance.

I’ll work through my remaining Maxfli Tour stock I guess - not like I’m going golfing anytime soon.  Maybe someone will gift them to me for my birthday.

I bought a buncha balls over the holidays so they were less than $28 per box.    Last year I dislike the xv a lot, but the diamond feels great!   Hopefully they didn't screw it up 😛
