2025 Srixon?

Preparing to pack up to throw these things around the rough at Torrey South next Monday, and I noticed something I haven't seen before. Srixon announced they updated to what they now call 'Spin Skin+ Coating, ' a stronger paint to increase friction with more resistance to dirt. Are they also trying to apply this along the seam to fix the seam-wear issues of the past? I noticed the XVs have a gritty texture that runs along the ball's seam. Some applied thicker than others, but they all have it. I didn't notice this the first time I played them, and I thought there was noticeably more spin greenside spin over the '23 (softer, too).

I had to turn the image's exposure to -2.0 to get the best picture of it. It looks like a bunch of little dots in the photos, but it's gritty friction as you run a finger over it.
Interesting nonetheless.

Any new updates on this years Srixons? Have you tried the Diamond yet?

The XV was superb. The rough at Torrey on Monday was incredibly difficult - they said they can only cut it an 1/8th of an inch a day, and it 'has a ways to go' before getting back to normal length per the clubhouse. With that being said, my shot of the day was being 165 out on #14 rough and muscling one to stop right on its mark with a 6 iron. Anyone that has played the XV knows it is a firmer ball, but around the greens, the 25 does feel softer. We had extreme wind gusts coming off the coast on the 200 yard #16 par 3. I could only get it to 45 out. Pin tucked right on the front edge and I carried the ball 10-12 feet past one-stop-hopped and spun it back to 5 feet. Even with the ball being lower spin, if you hit it clean that Dupont rubber bites. I found the sand, a lot... Durability of the ball was great, no issues. Many elevated greens and I had no issues stopping it. I don't mind the firmness of the XV, but I will say if I'm ever playing below 60 degrees, i'm probably just using the Diamond or V1.

FYI on this special release Diamond... I picked some up!

That Diamond colorway is badass.

I have been traveling non stop for work recently and have been hitting the ball pretty bad but finally had a decent round yesterday. I got the new XV in last week so hopefully this week I’ll be able to give them a fair side by side with the previous gen, which I love.

Played the new ZStar Diamond Yellow yesterday.  Felt great off the putter much improved on 2023.  Flighted nicely but seemed to come up a club short on the irons.  Driver distance was average.  2025 ProV1x seems best fit for me.

I had this same problem with the Prior Diamond, Just seemed short for me. The 25 XV though is definitely on my radar to try. Sounds like it could be a Very good upgrade over prior version which was already pretty good

Played the '24 Diamond and '25 Diamond side by side last weekend. Rotated every 3-4 holes. To give the ball a solid play, not swithcing back and forth shots.

Driver distance was the same. Talking a few yards either way based on strike.  Ball flight is a bit lower on the '25 which is to be expected given it is softer.

Irons, not sure but oddly as a few have noted the '25 was coming up a bit shorter? Compared to the '24.  Could not figure it out honestly.  Happened a handful of times too.  I am not talking a full club but a 4-5 times it came up 3-4 yards short of what I expected.

Feel '25 diamond is softer.  You can tell off the putter best, its not huge difference to me (SC Newport) but its there.  Irons it feels the same to me at impact (mizuno irons).

Its a good ball but right now I think for my game the '24 might be better.  I am wondering if I should try the XV now though as a buddy was playing one and loved it.  That is new XV might be closer to the old Diamond now?

What the Diamond ('24) had / known for was a bit more spin on the long clubs/mid irons shots. What I am seeing on course seems that is not the case now.  Right now will play the old version until I know if the difference is worth the switch.

Played the XV 25 today.  Great ball.  Zero wear issues.  Surprisingly good stopping power for a firm ball.

Isn't it supposed to be a little softer than the 24 model? Therefore that's why it has more Greenside spin. The 25 XV just sounds like a Ball I would absolutely love. I'm gonna have to give it a try when I go through my Chrome Tours

Been playing the Zstar yellow lately - it's been cold so I'm not sure what to say about distance other than it seems within normal range - but when it's 45 and windy it's just hard to judge absolute max distance numbers.

It seems more durable than the Maxfli Tour Yellow I was playing.

We're in the 70s this week so I'm going to get out again.  I like the ball so far for sure.

Looks like Srixon has a buy 3 personalized get the 4th free promotion.  I might pick that up...

I played my first round with the 25 this weekend and it was excellent. I wouldn’t say I am the most sensitive person to ball feel, but I don’t notice a difference in feel between the 23 and 25. I play the yellow version, durability was excellent. There is a huge metal power tower just off the right side of the fairway on number 1 at the course I play, its the line I use to cut a corner over a bunker and drilled the side of it, had a very small scuff but that was it. Ball played great all day and am looking forward to gaming it this season.

Seems like everyone is enjoying the xv. How is full wedge spin compared to last version?

I’ll preface this by saying that I never had issues stopping the previous gen, but the greens i played on this weekend were pretty firm and fast and I was able to stop everything. I didn’t notice a big change where the ball was ripping back or anything, but there likely is a little more spin to it. I haven’t compared it on my launch monitor yet but will try to do that today or tomorrow.

Played nine with the Zstar Yellow yesterday.  I couldn't hit a green so I had lots of chip shots - ball performed really well.  Good check and spin around the greens.  Distance was also solid both off the tee and with irons in hand.  Durability excellent: bunker shot and a cart path got hit and the ball showed no signs of damage - seems a lot more durable than the Maxfli Tour Yellow I was playing.  Really happy with it off the putter too.

I will probably do the buy 3/get one deal before it ends.

Does the seam issue still exist with Srixon?

Former big time XV player here, but the seam wear issue just bothered me to the point I had to switch.  Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It does not, much better durability on the new line.

Whats your swing speed and how do you find the driver spin with the Diamond?

117 SS and spin is around 2500 with the ‘24 diamond, on the high end but I’ve been keeping it in play and have been hitting it long. I’ve got 3 dozen ‘25 XV that will be in tomorrow I’ll have a review to post in the next 4 or 5 weeks compared to the ‘24 diamond.

In some testing I was seeing some abnormally high driver spin numbers with the Diamond recently so jumped over to the XV. Going a bit sight unseen but I’ve played it before and think it will fit exactly what I need. Plus goofballs.com has the 4/3 with free personalization.

I went through a dozen of the diamonds in late January/February and felt like they may be a bit spinny on the driver and irons as I was short on a lot of iron shots. Hard to tell because I wasn't striking it my best and it was cold. Considering giving them another try once we get consistent warmer weather. Also played the new XV divide and had some really good success with it. Ballnamic has consistently put the XV in my top 3 for two years now so I guess I just need to jump in with both feet. Funny thing is Diamond has never cracked the top 5. Always one of the Pro V1's, XV, and Chrome Tour in the top 3 with a smattering of Vice and/or Maxfli.

I’m certainly a higher spin player so theoretically wouldn’t need the diamond I just loved the feel and spin around the green. I do think the XV will fit me better I’m going to play 3 dozen of the ‘25 XV and decide.

I beat the crap out of a new version XV yesterday, I think it hit the cart path twice (possibly hit a bridge on one of those) and and a tree but only had a minor little scuff by the end of the round. I’m really happy with this ball. Playing Kiawah this weekend and looking forward to seeing how well it will hold fast greens. And probably also losing a bunch of them.

Good luck! I continue to notice how little the wind affects this ball. You will undoubtedly conclude that playing in some nice winds there.

I noticed that yesterday, it was pretty breezy at times and was really pleased how well it held its line. I’m likely to see a bit stronger winds, but am hoping for a calmer day.

This little guy made it 18 holes at Kiawah Ocean course yesterday. It did incredibly well in that wind and held the greens pretty well, the only issue I had was when it was still damp, everything skipped. I did start to see the seam a little bit toward the end of the round though, I was thinking this was improved but maybe not. I finished the round with it with no problem though. It’s going to be hard to knock this thing out of my bag now with the increased spin around the green, it’s a great ball.

They've been improving their Spin Skin every generation, I've yet to see any seam issues myself and I put a pounding on the ball so for me as long as they perform I'm happy, my one wish is a touch more spin the with XV greenside cause I'd use that one way more if it did.

More greenside spin, would that be the Diamond?
