More greenside spin, would that be the Diamond?

Yeah but it's also more spin with every other club which many don't want. That's why if the XV just spins more around the green it would be a preferred ball for many.

wait.... the XV should have the lowest spin, how would this spin too much off his irons?

It doesn’t. Off the irons the Z Star is lower spinning and lower peak height.

Finally played a round with the ‘25 XV, couldn’t tell much of a difference in distance between it and the ‘23 diamond which is what I played exclusively for 2 years. Didn’t get any unexpected yardages with iron/wedge shots. Played the front nine in rain so not the best day to judge spin, however on the 18th hole once the greens had dried a bit I  did spin one back about 15 ft from 110 yds and the greens were slow. I was happy with it, I’ll have another update mid may after I get 10 rounds or so with the ‘25 XV.

Played 18 with the ‘25 XV Sunday. Such a good ball. Played the whole round with the same ball and I have new RTX wedges that I am primarily hitting greens on most par 4’s. It’s long, durable with good spin and feels almost as soft off of the putter as the Diamond. 4 dozen ordered.

I was surprised by the feel off the putter as well. I was actually hoping for a firmer feel off the putter from the XV, it helps me with speed control, but it was almost impossible to tell the difference between the XV and the Diamond off the putter.

I agree, i love a firmer ball off the putter, but it’s just so good everywhere else that i will overlook it.

I might be trying the XV.

If you've actually played the TP5 2024 & The Diamond 2025 I'd loved a comparison. Especially peak height with driver and irons.

Thanks!

The XV is sooooo much more durable than the Callaway Triple Diamond is laughable. TD doesn’t last more than 3 holes if I’m hitting wedges. I e played several rounds with one XV thus far.

That was my only knock on the ‘23 Srixon series. Titleist was noticeably more durable, I’d say they have closed the gap with the ‘25 lineup, but for $35/dozen on eBay I can’t pass up the XV.

Picked up a sleeve of new XV. No golf this weekend for me but I'll make it to the short game area by mid week.

How do you find the Srixons compared to the tp5x spin feel distance?

Iron and wedge shots felt very similar to the TP5x. Distances were much farther than I expected, I remember being shocked by my first approach shot. I'm getting 7/8 more yards on irons and 10+ yards on hybrids/woods. In pretty cold weather I might add.

I didn't notice a huge difference in distance off of driver but it definitely felt more "sturdy"/heavier off the face than the TP5x. Putter is similar, does not feel as hard as a TP5X much closer to the feel of a TP5 but it's not noticeable unless you're ABX testing.

I like everything else about the XV except that, I would much rather the firmer feel of the TP5x. I guess I’m an outlier, i kind of like a clicky feel off the putter.

After reading all the online material I could find - I have a sneaky suspicion that the XV might be the sleeper pick for my 2025 unscientific ball testing.  Will be at the short game area this week with the XV, left dash, and Cally 3 diamond.

I will post my thoughts.  Im able to spin anything including left dash (that Ive read folks have harder time around greens) so I am thinking the XV will be no issues for me either.  Maybe pre-emptive a tad I know....

Very curious to hear a comparison to the new pro v1x as well. I believe you’ve played it before as well I understand that it’s not in your test but just your opinion between the two

Ive played a sleeve of the new 1x.  I liked the ball better than the 2025 V1, which felt like mush to me especially off driver.  Could game the 2025 1x for sure but I do like the 23 1x, not sure why but I do (maybe familiarity as Ive played it for 2 years).  I can take a new 1x with me, no biggie.

Had to try it after lurking this thread, really enjoying these Masters themed Diamonds. (Coming from TP5x, really liking the XV and Diamond so far).

1 ball, 36 holes, 5 bunker shots and 3 trees hit:

3 hit trees?  Man you must get some killer bounces...! I can never find my typically after nailing a tree.

Well 2 balls I wanted to try this year the 2025 srixon XV and the PXG Extreme. I ordered a dozen of each to see. If I don't like these any better I will be going back to my Chrome Tours. But I'm kinda excited to try the New XV not sure on the PXG though maybe it will surprise me. But I'm really hoping to like that XV cause it sounds really interesting!

Busy week here, had to mow 2x in 4 days (Ohio springs suck), work, and the range I was going yesterday to try out closes at 3 each Wednesday for ball picking.  Who does that?  Must be a new thing this year since Ive never heard of it.  Anyhoo, leaving for Easter weekend to the fams for visit - clubs are going and round scheduled.  Im trying to figure out how to get some info.  Might switch balls each hole?  Play one for 3 holes?  Dunno.  Taking the XV, left dash, Cally 3 diamond, and new 1x.  Casual round so my buddies wont mind if I chip 2 or 3.  Next week we are headed to Charleston to see the grandbaby and sadly corporate (wife) says no clubs allowed (management sucks) so it'll be some time before I really get into what I am going to play this year.

If I were to maximize the amount of feedback between both in only 18, here is what I would do:

  • Play Ball A on the front 9, Ball B on the back 9.

  • Use only the primary ball for driving and putting to maintain pace.

  • When pace allows, hit second shot with the alternate ball from key distances or frequent shot types (e.g., greenside, bunker, 100, 140, 175+ yards).

  • Don’t limit testing to fairway lies—evaluate from the rough too, since it affects spin and control differently.

Mixing in a third is obviously tougher, depending on how critical you are about getting the right data/feedback.

Ive been jotting options down.  Yes, this woke me up in the middle of the night thinking about how I can best do this.  You make some very strong points.  Wife asked why I got up so I told her - she called me an idiot lol.  Since I really want to try 4 I might try each for 4 holes then take my fave 2 and use 1 on 17 and the other on 18.  When I tried out the 2024 tp5x, I knew immediately I did not like it as soon as I hit 2 drives and 2 approaches.  Didnt feel right or good for me.  So if I experience that with one of these 4 I can probably discard it from the unscientific evaluation.  And as you said, when I get the chance, hit a 2nd one when I can.  We are playing Easter Sunday so if I dont get struck by lightning, hopefully the course wont be packed (weather also looks dicey) and there will be time.  100yds and in is where I want to really see.  I will get to the greenside practice area hopefully before we leave for Charleston.  Ive submitted my leave request to mgmt.

Srixon XV is a great ball for me and my game.  Can it unseat my trusty 1x?  I played with 4 different balls over the weekend in less than ideal conditions.  Cool, wet, gusty winds.  Here is what I posted about the XV in my thread on unscientific testing...

Srixon xv. Loved the ball. Mid drive flight. Long. Felt heavier than left dash but not like 3 diamond. Great straight flight on irons and hop and stop on greens.

Srixon XV.  Ball feels a tad heavy off driver compared to 1x.  Mid flight that cuts wind (and it was gusty yesterday).  Long with the driver, as long as 1x Id say.  I know the course and was in usual spots.  Irons was a nice flight that felt good off the face.  This ball holds its line.  Dialed in a 7i approach from 160 and played a cut (right to left - Im lefty) that hit, hopped, spun about 3ft left and sat.  Off wedges and around green, great control and spin.  Was able to play all the greenside shots and the hop n stop was great on this one.
