here's the accompanying video of Brooke at the hockey game.

The Brits had a phrase "jolly hockey sticks"... to refer to an upper-class girl at boarding school / good at sports (e.g.: Iona Stephens perhaps?)

... dunno whether the Aussies/Kiwis also appropriated the term? @Rapidcat @AKL Kiwi @Raving Shanker?

No similar term used in Oz to my knowledge - perhaps because we don't entertain the class system, although we do have elite private schools which are more money-based to gain attendance along with a parent having gone to the school giving the child some precedence to secure a place.

this was a nice article. Wasit someone on this forum who lamented that Emma Talley was a "could've been a contender"  big talent who never really got it going on the LPGA Tour? (perhaps @Argonne69?)

Yeah, that was probably me. She was a former NCAA and U.S. Women's Amateur champion. Small group of players who accomplished that, e.g. Rose Zhang. 'Just thought she was going to make a bigger splash as a professional.

Nelly has been Rolex #1 for 79 weeks as of Monday, January 6, 2025; she should reach 105 weeks the first week of July 2025.  She will reach 100 weeks even if she collapses and doesn't win a single tournament the next 5-6 months; but she'll need to win if she intends to hold #1 until the end of 2025.

Looking at the points as they stand even just an average season for Nelly should see her through till 2026 at #1. If she keeps her divisor low by just playing locally outside the majors again on courses that suit her it will take an extraordinary season by someone to pass her. It's far more likely she will have 3 wins over 3 miss cuts this year! You look at the top RR 50 and at the moment and Jeeno, Lydia and maybe Ruoning are the only players you could consider to make a run at #1 and that would have to be with a Major in there.

I guess one of the hazards of being a pro golfer is the constant temptation by swing “experts” hovering around tournament driving ranges. 
 

Do they ever advertise: “Yes, I changed so and so’s swing and she lost her playing card!”

This is 2024 LPGA Priority List. I guess it's not been updated since Dec 2024.

I think it should reflect the end of the playing season / no changes since.  For example, In Gee dropped from Top 80 to Major Winner.

 

Actually, I'm not sure why it always took them so long to publish it before.  I think exercise options needed to be placed by mid-Nov (Career Top 20, etc), in which case all players should have known their status for next year by Dec.

30 entered so far at TOC. I think 37 would be qualified. The 2 year qualifying really saved their field this year after Nelly won 7 and 4 players claimed about half the titles in '24.

Jeeno's first LPGA event will be Honda. She confirmed this on a Thai talk show before last year's end.

 

She may play Indonesian Open (Ladies Asian Tour) and the Saudi Intl (LET) before then.

LPGA International Crown to include new 'Team World'

The International Crown, an LPGA match-play competition, will feature a new team of global stars for this year's edition in Korea, organizers said Thursday.
 
Team World, to be made up of one player each from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa and Oceania, will go up against seven national teams when the 2025 International Crown is played from Oct. 23 to 26 at new Korea Country Club in Goyang, Gyeonggi.

 

National teams will be represented by their top four players in the world rankings. The combined number of the players' ranking positions will be the team ranking points, and the country with the lowest total will be the top seed. The top seven countries in the points as of June 23 will qualify for the International Crown, and the final field of 32 players, including four for Team World, will be selected based on the rankings on Aug. 4.
