2025 LPGA Season Odds and Ends

Reading Jenny Shin's tweets = seems similar to reading her diary/ blog i.e. sometimes too intimate.

Jenny gives me the impression she can be a Drama Queen at times.

I'm trying hard to think of a LPGA player playing under the Korean flag who is a Drama Queen, I can't think of one.

It would be nice if they publicly published the fine amounts.

$5000 over the course of an entire season is meaningless to a top performing golfer.

I wonder if the LPGA is hiring more travelling RO's to monitor & enforce the new PoP policies.

The new policies will have no bearing if there is a shortage in man power.

Just like proper golf marshaling, you focus on the 25% percentile who are the worst offenders causing the bottlenecks.

The LPGA RO's should have an "internal" list or at least a "word of mouth" list of the "turtles" on tour.

The fast players must cringe when the Thursday/Friday pairings are released when they are paired up with a turtle(s) that puts their group on the clock often.

You are only as fast as your slowest player(s) in your group.

I know Nelly likes to play fast, but based on some comments, Charley must be really impatient with any slow players in her group. I would hope Adam Woodward, an experienced caddie, helps to keep Charley's frustration in check.

Would be curious to see an LPGA version of this short game Tier List.

Presumably Lydia is "S-Tier" i.e. top-tier.  Who else?

IMO. Yes, Lyds is top of the class on the LPGA.

I equate short game as scrambling, chipping and putting.

I never knew Captain America as top tier.

Am I mistaken. I thought Hideki was not a great putter, unless he's improved recently.

If Hideki was a great putter... presumably he would be like Tiger Woods with one "Elder Wand" putter

... for time being, Hideki might have the world's largest/ most-coveted selection of CircleT putters.

I record and watch most rounds time shifted, so my 30 second skip button gets a real workout. We know who the turtles are, but I'm often surprised how long some fast players take to hit their shots. Minjee can be a slowpoke. Dame Lydia is no cheetah.

I was watching the Players on Sunday. JT took nearly 2 minutes to hit his tee shot on the par 3 17th. 'Probably took longer, but I timed it from the moment the camera cut to the empty green. Pretty sure he was standing there longer.

Fun video... Jeeno is naturally "loose" on-camera.  Johnny Wunder has since left his role as Callaway Rep/ hype-man

(circa end-Jan'25;  so this must've been filmed awhile ago, but released today).

... the fascinating thing is that Jeeno (and other Tour Pros, e.g. Alex Noren was mentioned) can make tiny adjustments in setup/ swing, to deliver the desired shot shape, despite this "blind" test .... i.e. not pre-warned about the fitting adjustments

Wait a minute...why was the CH thread locked?  I mean we even got her to try to quit and take a big bet.  So the most powerful, fun thread on here gets locked.  I guess with great power comes great responsibility and we must have run afoul of our responsibility some how.  Oh well.

wasn't the Mods that locked the “Trish rags on Charley Hull” thread… Looks like it was locked by the OP @Hari_Selden, as is his/her prerogative.

I have 2 7-irons, one left and one right! It's necessary for me on my home course.

@Raving Shanker Your comment reminded me of this Vijay Singh video...

... Are you able to play "Lefty" as well as Vijay?

(and! Any LPGA pros who are reknowned for their ambidextrous talents ... either active pro/ retired?

I'm guessing Canadians = most likely; due to hockey).

What do you think?!

It's a rescue club, and it goes about 40 m shorter than the rightie. But it does go straight!

I played hockey, but field hockey.

My course, by the way, is purportedly the 2027 Australian LIV venue. I don't know how that's possible. It is a tight, tree-lined course.

@Titleist_PT23@AKL Kiwi and other learned LPGA Forum friends & Lydia Ko fans:

See if you can guess the specific location(s) of Lydia Ko's recent photo shoot, that featured her on the cover of Vogue Korea.

(because my initial reaction = that sure doesn't look like Korea!)

Maybe a case of it's not what you know vs, it's who you know.

Maybe Rachel is not performing hard core finances.

Maybe the KKR job is simply a interim job, seems like Rachel's destined towards a government and/or military career?

Generally speaking, most investment firms hire business or economic grads?

Typically Poli Sci grads trend towards a law or political career?

Or a Stanford degree opens up so many doors and because their grads are quite bright, they can adapt to most anything.

Her ambition is very desirable.

IMO. She'll do well in anything she does.

What a fiasco!

Am I interpreting this correctly.

Popov went to 2024 final stage LPGA Q-school to improve her poor 2024 CME status playing performance to attempt to improve her 2025 LPGA priority.

I just performed a Google search.

Popov's LPGA priorty standing at the beginning of both 2024 & 2025 remained at 57th. Both with ** for maternity and not with *** ? for maybe a medical (injury) & maternity leave? I don't believe a *** can exist? You are either on mat leave or a medical?

Would she not have questioned why in January 2025 her 57th priority remained the same.

Or was she still going to be on mat leave entering 2025? If yes, why attend Q-school?

Did she knowingly take advantage of an error?

No, It's the part in bold (add a handful of other schools to the list as well).  Student athletes are also in demand, not least ones as successful as her.

Apparently Popov did ask for clarification of her status.
