I have information from a pretty reliable source that the new event in Mayakoba is scrambling last minute for volunteers and there are other organizational issues. 
 

Remember, this is the same organization that was responsible for the fiasco at the WTA finals a couple years back.

@iBanesto: well-spotted ... albeit Guseva's "UNA" (unaffiliated) status on LPGA leaderboards = has been since at least 2023 Q-school/Q-series.

I'm 45 and these records will not be broken in my lifetime. Maybe, maybe Phil's top 50 run, but even then I don't think the modern player will play for that long.

Based on PING's website, In Gee has dropped a 5-iron (was the longest iron in her bag for some time) for a 5H (26 degrees).

 

I also find it interesting that the 7W/9W at the KPMG was basically only for that course / setup.  She was a long-time 3H/4H player and really just swapped them out for the shots she needed that week.

 

I had been curious whether she would just stick with the higher lofted fairways, but I guess they don't fit her gapping/ball flight/needs best on a weekly basis.

My hypothesis = @Argonne69was recruited as a pace-of-play enforcer 

 

 

But! It's a good article, and (IMHO) Krauter's appeal had some merit (wasn't successful in the appeal for the slow-play penalty ... and the officials in the scoring tent hearing her appeal didn't seem to take the matter seriously (per Krauter);

 

... Krauter has subsequently said she would go make her case to Mike Whan ... and has thereafter been added to the USWO field!)

A few years ago I played with a lady in Arizona who's son was crushed between two golf carts when his buddy attempted to scare him by slamming on the brakes and skidding to a screeching halt. Of course the cart didn't stop in time, and the young man was pinned between the carts with severely damaged legs.

 

Since then I make a habit of never standing behind a cart is the other cart in my group is coming up the cart path. Crazy things do happen.

Stuart Appleby's first wife Renay was crushed to death by a taxicab outside London Waterloo station in 1998, shortly after he had missed the cut at The Open Championship.

 

So horrible. I met Stuart when he was a teenager in Melbourne playing pennant for Yarra Yarra (Melbourne sand belt club) against my club's team (I was playing in that team but didn't play Stuart). Very nice young guy from rural Victoria and has done some fine things in his life including becoming a surrogate father to his friend and neighbor Payne Stewart's kids after Payne's tragic death. 

 

Robert Allenby also played for Yarra Yarra in that team on that day. Despite some name similarity (Appleby/Allenby) he had a very different personality than Stuart's, much more insular and focused solely on the match with no personal interaction - no criticism, just noted the contrast.

Anyone with knowledge of the LET know if Virginia Elena Carta has quit the tour? She had a strong second half to last season having struggled with putting for a long time as she has always been a good ball striker. Since LET introduced stats she was leading the ball striking stats. The stats aren't as comprehensive as say the PGA Tour but she was leading strokes gained tee to green etc. Carta hasn't played a tournament all year.

Not 100% sure (FWIW ... her LET bio page says Carta still has LET Tour status i.e. "Group 4: Top 70".)

 

The counterpoint = during 2024, Virginia Elena Carta was also working towards (and obtained!) a professional certification in industry i.e. as a GRI-certified sustainability professional... so she may have transitioned to a professional life away from golf. 

 

Perhaps being coerced/ force-fed a Scottish delicacy i.e. deep-fried pizza at Troon in 2024 (and then being chased all around town by seagulls!) = was the last straw.

You must be a very strong amateur player to be playing against Appleby and Allenby.

 

Both strong ball strikers but their putting was very streaky.

 

I was always surprised that Appleby's form went downhill after 2008.
