I wish my golf game was anywhere close to as good as my bowling game has been as of late. Probably doesn’t hurt to be in 2 leagues, where as my golf was non existent since October until the past 2 weeks

I've just started getting into it after getting a good feel for how to throw a ball. I felt like a golfer who finally figured out how to not slice a ball. Then I overdid it and hurt myself.

I'm OK with the opposite of this. What handicap in golf would a 130's bowler be? 15?

I tied my best ever at Fox today. First bogey-free out there as well. It was a good day. Even better? I can't post it. :classic_wink:

@CDM is so proud.

Whoaa whoaa whoaa I am working on it, working down to 11.4 hdcp.   Last time I played with @Dancin I think he said I was playing to a 16.1..... or maybe it was something else.....

Welp. I've had right shoulder pain since last summer (which is what I'll attribute to my lost distance). Then I landed hard on it while ice skating on Thanksgiving. Now it's to the point where I can't put on a sweater without agony. Doctor confirmed my rotator cuff is wrecked. MRI soon to determine how bad.

Oddly enough, I went to Topgolf last weekend with the family, and it felt okay swinging a golf club.

35/40 at The Olde Course yesterday.  First 9 of the year under par with 2 birds and bogey, almost mic dropped the year and peace'd out.  Hit 2 fairways, but 28 putt can help you.  I know that this could be a 104 at another course...  I usually play very well at here at at Coal Creek for some reason.

The fourth love of my life came today... hopefully.  First one was a Santa Fe in Black Oxide that a friend from college gave when he went to a Newport - tour used.  I still have this and it will never leave the house again.  Second love is my Studio Design 2.5 which I played with yesterday.  Third love was my Tour Laguna that was stolen last year which I don't even have any photos of - hopefully somebody sends it into Cameron Custom Shop and they send it back to me.

Fourth love is hopefully a Bettinardi BB5 in 1025 carbon - lighter head at 345g with shaft, so went with 34.5 inches instead of 34.  Posting these here so that I have some photos of this one.  Black oxide, flow neck and already some ghosting on the weld.  I cannot wait for it to start to oxidize.  It would have turned out flawless if I had it finished in satin or black chrome.  Need to get some carnuba on there and polish it up.  I am going to be so bummed if I don't like it.  If you see somebody out putting in the snow tomorrow, it will be me.

It's a dogleg and the defending trees have died. It requires a ~295yd carry over the water and ~315yd carry over the bunker to the green.

Yeah, so, you know, very easy to hit your tee shot to 15ft…😆 Awesome shot. You were on 59 watch with four to play! Did that enter your mind?

So who is the 12 handicap that shot net 62 to beat you in the fox hill league? 🤣

He was a 6 at the time and I had to give 10 shots from the whites. I shot 66 and he beat me 2 up. I've gotten used to that part. What I didn't like was the complaining about how bad he was playing while beating me while I played well. Let that sink in....

The guy I played the front with was an old guy that just got cleared to play from back surgery. He says he's done, asks me what I shot and I tell him 30. That's when it hit my brain. This time it didn't make me nervous.

I just remembered how nervous I got on 10 the first time I broke par at Fox Hill about 8 years ago. I was coming off 6 in a row and a 29 on the front and I was practically shaking nervous on 10. I played so tight the rest of the way it was crazy. I can't believe I only made 2 bogies on the back considering the nerves.

I just thought about that and had the attitude of "let's go!" It feels like a subtle difference from "let's just keep this going" but it's a lot different. I actually felt aggressive, thinking something like "I'm playing well, let's ride it and make more birdies."

I wouldn't have said anything but I'd be pretty pissed about that too. 10 f-ing strokes against me and you're still winning while you're playing bad? GTFO

Oh man I was joking about you getting beat knowing the stories you tell about the league. Wow that sucks that it happened.

I have probably posted this before, but I subbed in Fox Hill mens league one time and a 22 cap shot 30 by himself.  You can win Mega Millions with better odds.  His name was Charlie something and he was gone not long after.  The two guys that got beat gave me hell about it too but I don't know the guy... I just took a call from the clubhouse about filling in for somebody.

Kiawah is an amazing place for a golf trip. Can’t recommend it enough!

Saturday we had perfect weather, just shorts and a polo. First we played at Cougar Point, which Player renovated in 2017. I really liked this course and the new clubhouse was so nice. The grounds were fantastic and the course had some gorgeous marshland views. The holes were fun, lots of risk reward on the par 5s. The par 3s were a bear.

In the afternoon we played Osprey Point. Fazio course which I absolutely adored. Tons of water to navigate around and it made the views of the course spectacular. Loved it. Here’s a pic of the par 4 9th hole:

IMG_0689.jpeg.486e1253b851a2c5bd2d320cee8ff518.jpeg

Sunday the weather got iffy as a front was moving in. We were going to play 36 again. Morning round went off without a hitch at Turtle Point, which is a Nicklaus course. 3 holes on the back (14-16) are on the ocean. Very fun and gorgeous stretch of holes. Lots of tough approach shots with water looming short and to the sides, plus navigating doglegs into greens. Was a challenge for sure. The afternoon round we had planned got rained out. We did get 5 holes in at Turtle again but that was it.

Monday was the Ocean Course. I had high expectations going in and this place exceeded them. Probably top 3 course I’ve played and I would go back there every year to play. Words can’t describe how awesome it was. Our caddies were perfect. The holes with the wind were so fun to play, especially because it was the first 4 and then the last 5 that we had helping wind. The middle stretch though….yowza. Hitting 5i and 6i from 130 yards is quite

an experience. It was a beautiful day though. We spent the entire day at the grounds, including grabbing dinner at the Ryder Cup Bar. I can’t imagine a more perfect day than what we had.

Here I am on 17. I hit it in the water. Oh well.

And here is the sunset over 18 while we were having drinks in the patio:

Looks awesome! Glad it lived up to your expectations. Getting me excited for my Bandon trip beginning of May.

I’m also now more excited as my game is feeling better. I was a little worried I was going to go there and not have a clue how to hit it. That would not be fun.

Played Collindale front nine this morning. Lots of hard pan spots and bumpy greens still, but playable. I guess probably pretty typical for March.

Back from epic golf trip. Te Arai North/South and Tara Iti as a combination is on another level over Bandon. Never thought I'd find a course I liked more than Ballyneal but Te Arai North is it. Tara Iti is close, but just behind BN if you take out the scenery. Te Arai South has the wildest Coore/Crenshaw greens I've ever seen, but is mostly an eye candy course. If I ranked everything we played it would go
Te Arai North
Tara Iti
The National Moonah
Te Arai South
Peninsula Kingswood North (most perfect and smooth greens I have ever played and nice layout too)
Victoria
St. Andrews Beach
Titirangi

Te Arai is doing the same deal as Bandon with second round half price and third round free. While we got it a lot cheaper as guest of a member at current exchange rates, Te Arai would be about $258 a round if playing 36 and I'd go back in a second at that rate. If you have the contact for Tara Iti too, that is probably the best 3 course in one location in the world.

Holy s***. Never thought I would see this. Te Arai North must be insane!
