About 20 years ago, Qwest had multiple facilities at Hampden & Wadsworth, and they decided to move the majority of software development into one of the buildings. We'd play Foothills almost every week. One of my best drives ever was on #5 (downhill dogleg right par 4). Landed my drive square in the middle of the green. Hole 5 will always stick with me. Thats a big hit if from the blacks. I think the hole is like 420 from the back. It does drop a decent amount but that had to be a 360 carry easy if you landed on. I dont think even when I was playing my best I got on the green with drive (using driver) Always 15-20 yards short of the green. 90% of the time though I used 3 wood for position. * Do they still do the Foothills Invitational (?) if they do you should play in it. Pretty fun. I still call it the "Sand Bagger Invitational" HUGE sand bagger event. Yet the one thing that was great was the skins game. It got some serious cash in since it was a "best ball" event. Eveyrone would sign up. Day two my buddy was supposed to pay for the skins as I did day one. Note: It was a horrid out...Coid, in the high 30's with wind/rain coming out the north, blowing easy 20-30 all day and it got worse in the afternoon. I birdied 5... i made a burtal putt I had no business making. The guys we were playing with "The could win a skin easy in this weahter" A few holes later on 8 buddy looks over at me "dude, sorry but have to tell you.....I forgot to pay the skins" 😗 Honestly I thought nothing of it an said lets just win our flight. Plus with couple hundred players someone else will birdied it for sure. NOPE........ I was the only one. Lost $288 for him not paying the skins LOL Some consolation we did win our flight so $400 each and lame azz clock thing I still have somewhere in the house. e actually got moved up a flight. There was a rule of "6 shots or greater" and they bump you up a flight to try and stop sand baggers. I think its 8 shots now? The flight ahead only one team was we 6 shots ahead of us, the rest was like 3-4 as we lead our fliight. Day one was a poor round for us, behind every tree and missed everything we looked at. Shot 72 and normally we shot like 68-69 range. Day two we"ham and egg'd" like crazy and shot 66. Buddy chipped in on 18 that got us moved up a flight based on the 6 shot rule and we thought we were hosed. Oddly it turned out we shot one of the best rounds that day. 100% the weather helped, more so we went our as on the first off. Plus we made some great puts. The flight ahead of us tee'd off mid day and the weather was way way worse. Edited July 14 by CDM
pseudoswede
@CDM my bad, I should've said it was from the white tees, which is still about a 320-330 carry. Quote Live in Colorado? Visit Colorado WRX! jda
If anybody was holding out on Riverdale Dunes, it is plenty fine now... some scars but did not impact play at all. The new bunkers on 11 and tee boxes on 12 are done really well. I still wish that lake was there by the green, but I can see why the drained it.

Couple times I had to move from a seam in the turf, but not a huge deal. That new routing between 11 and 12 is great, especially for walking. Almost got hit while on 10 by someone teeing off on 1 yesterday. That was interesting. Left our bags in the fairway and went over to help look for a ball in the left rough. Heard a ball hit in the fairway behind us and end up a couple yards behind my cart.
Popular Post pseudoswede
Great weekend in Summit County. The Raven was in okay shape. Better shape than the last time I played it in 2019, but that's not saying much. #13 was nearly unplayable due to the majority of the fairway being too wet/soggy to play, and it doesn't help it's a blind tee shot. I'm going to put this in the "play it once, take lots of pictures, and never go back" bucket. The round took five hours, and the whole course was backed up. Breckenridge, on the other hand, was in excellent shape with just a few dried-out dead spots on fairways and the occasionally wet/soggy spot. We played Beaver/Bear, which is probably the most meh of the pairings. Even thought we waiting on almost every shot (only a few times did we drive up to the next tee box with the group ahead still teeing off), we played in just 4 hours 5 minutes. I could play this course over and over. If you're ever near Keystone, I highly recommend trying out the beers at Steep. The place was packed with locals on a Friday evening which I think is a good sign. 5 Quote Live in Colorado? Visit Colorado WRX! jda
27 at Breck, plush and greens pure. Cart path only with all of the water, but that is OK since there is not a wide fairway out there. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the report - sorry to hear about Raven as we always loved having that as course we would play when up in Summit county. Last year we did Keystone River and Breck, and Breck was by far in superior condition - glad to hear that Breckenridge is continuing to be excellent. No family trip this year means no Summit county golf but happy to hear that you enjoyed it. Edited July 31 by cubuffs

Up there every week. I heard 1. Members where not happy 2. numbers not penciling. No idea on No.1 but I can see No. 2 being accurate. Troon was just managing from what I understood and the cost to manage to cost club paying did not align for either party.
