Callaway Elyte Mini Driver?

Qi35 mini would be appealing, especially right around the 280-300cc, new driver looks sharp.

Looks like the specifications are the exact same as the two smoke models. l'd love to see one of these around 300-320cc with the advanced aerodynamics. Another idea would be a 275-300cc shallower faced 13.5 degree version. I could almost justify two in the bag with a 340cc 10.5 and a 290cc 14.5 with a more shallow face.

 

I'm assuming the 340cc is where Callaway figures the forgiveness doesn't fall too far. I wonder how many different exact replica prototype sizes they have already built and tested? There must be a story behind that and why 340cc size was chosen again? I'm happy with the Smoke but I'd have to try this one out. If they give double trade again, watch out.

Lots of Callaway staffers have carried it at some point. Xander, Akshay, Greyserman, Si Woo to name a few.

Same here. Haven't been on the course with it yet but from what I've seen on the range and sim I can't imagine trading it in anytime soon.

Glad to see there will be an Elyte mini and that it’s still 340cc.  Smoke mini has been excellent for me by every measure.  Only thing I’m not sure I like about the Elyte mini from that link is that the front and back weights would no longer be interchangeable.  I’ve got the heavy weight on the Smoke mini moved to the front as that’s what works best for me.  I have a feeling the Elyte mini and Smoke mini would actually play as vastly different clubs.

I would bet big $$ that there will be plenty of different options available for the elyte back weights.  There are at least 3 oem options for the AiSMax slider (8/14/20) and even more aftermarket.  
 

and i typically like more forward weight too in both the mini and my big driver.  With the heavy weight back in the ais TD i hit massive block slices every time, it definitely doesnt seem more forgiving like its supposed to be.  Even swapping a 14/2 (F/B) to a 12/4 gave me the same problem.  I cant understand how 2g shifted could make any difference but the results were undeniable. Anyone else have a similar experience or know why that might be the case?

I didn't get what you were saying, but your 2g change is really a 4g change, -2 on one weight and +2 on the other.

 

I just wanted to take a touch off the 9 wood flight of my Mini 13.5°.  Switching the stock 2 / 14 weights around and / or turning the head down a degree took way to much off.  At 13.5°, I tried 8 / 8 and 6F / 10B and still way too much.  Finally like you, I was thinking it's just 2g from stock, but I tried 4F / 12B and perfect.

 

And now I get it, it's really a 4g change.  The Mini head is smaller and the seemingly insignificant weight change makes a much bigger difference than in your much higher MOI TD Max.

I haven't seen anything in this thread, but I may have missed it so I apologize. I found a Bertha Mini driver that was traded in to  a shop I work at part-time and I love it. It is 235 cc's so it is much smaller, but it is basically a slightly larger fairway wood that you can tee up and hit well. I would love for it to be like 275 cc's or something a little bit bigger, but I just wish the newer mini drivers would be closer to this size, than the 340-ish range! I know that that is going along with what has already been said, but I had to throw my two cents in haha

Exactly, that is perfect! I was just saying, I am not sure why Callaway (and Taylormade) are so incessant on making them bigger. I feel that the 250-300 cc range is the best window, with my preference being closer to the 250 area!

Callaway designs it's mini driver to be just that.  Reasonable launch and spin.  

 

Taylormade designs it's mini to be a rocket ship with max distance.

 

All depends on what you need/want.

I hope it’s the same one the fairways use. Playing this at 3 wood length it’s much easier to try different shafts with the fairway adapter.
