Modifying a LAB alignment aid

I just acquired a DF3 CB in a trade. It has the standard small T shaped alignment aid, which I don’t love. I prefer the standard 2.1 longer T alignment aid, but if I were to order a custom DF3 I would order the triple track III to match my preferred ball alignment set up.

 

All that said, I’m thinking I want try to add the two more lines parallel to my present line. Obviously I’d still have the perpendicular line at the face, but that’s not a dealbreaker. I’m thinking some kind of auto tape or something to see what I like best.

 

Thoughts? I’m looking for ideas and suggestions….

Auto pin striping would be the easiest and can be removed easily if wanted

This, I've done it several times and no one has ever even noticed. 

 

A little tip. If you do decide to go this route. I've always heated ( using a blow dryer ) the top of the putter head before applying the pinstriping. Seems to make it stick better / longer.

If you are looking for permanent markings, LAB Golf can add additional lines on the putter.  I had one changed in the past.  They cannot remove current markings, but they can add additional.  If looking for a decal, I think there was someone on Ebay at one point that was selling Triple Track decals to put on putters.

If nothing else it will help me figure out which aid I want on the Oz 🙂

No, I don't at this time. But it's very easy and no one can tell.

I added a painted line along the top front edge of my custom putter. I used Testors model paint.  I play 3 days a week all year and it has lasted over a year.  No chipping or fading of the paint. 

 

I placed painters tape below the edge and 1/8" back from the edge. Painted the line. Removed the tape. Came out perfect.

Thanks. I had some electrical tape on my Scotty Newport 2 as a vertical line. Stayed on for a few years. Then it fell off and I got a mallet.

This was done with pinstripe tape I bought off amazon for a few dollars.  Wiped the surface with alcohol and warmed up with a heat gun, has been on there with no issues for a few months now.

What size pin stripping matches stock markings? 1/16 or 1/4 or? Would like same size as stock.

which lines did you add and what size tape did you use?

1/16th inch white pinstripe tape.

 

It works well, it's close to the original width, and if you clean the surface with some alcohol before applying it, the bond is good and seems to last. I've played about 8 rounds with my Oz now and the tape is still holding on perfectly (I no longer have that DF3 in the photos above). The line along the face is the factory laser applied sight line, the one running from the shaft back to the trail edge of the head is the tape.

Anyone have any luck removing OG LAB alignment markings.  Looks like they are just painted on.  Wondering if can be removed without leaving too much shadow.

They're laser etched.  I don't think it's that easy to remove them.
