https://forums.golfwrx.com/profile/308020-tim583/ Very interested in your results.

Love the 925. Vs p770 mishits felt better. It’s hard to describe but they felt more solid. Same shaft, slightly lower flight but 10 yards of more carry - lofts. Forgiveness felt exactly the same. I felt I could draw the ball better - not sure on they are more upright. Feel is tasty forged. P770 are softer out of the middle but there’s nothing like a soft forged iron. Two buckets in, I’m all for the 925 from a performance standpoint.

Well, some decisions had to be made.

I love the turf interaction and feel of these heads. The DG shaft (Mid 115 S400) is just not for me. It works when I slow my tempo down more than I like but then I’m not used to it which is increasing dispersion.

I have an old set of MMT 125s that are going in right now.

Will also weigh the heads for those curious

Like all WRX folks (or at least most) I have had a few different sets of irons over the last couple of years and have to say the 925F and MMT105s is the 1st one I don't feel like I have to mess with, most sets I decide I have to soft step or hard step or change the SW, always something.

These just plays great, now I am going to get the L/L checked just for peace of mind and maybe bring them to +1 lie instead of +2 as ordered (if that is what they are).

Got my set yesterday with 2 T1 wedges. My setup is extended 1/2” and 1 degree weak and 2 degrees upright with $taper 120s the irons weren’t really 1 degree weak and some were just 1 degree upright. The shop had to bend them to get to the proper spec. Swing weight was about d3. The wedges which I play all at 36.5”. Both were stock length and not extended. So they’re returning those.

would the different material affect forgiveness though? Should be about the same but would have an effect on feel and ball speed maybe? I really don’t know.

Yes, slightly, but also as loft goes up mishits arent as big of a dropoff anyways. Basically as you go up the set, the differences will naturally shrink.

Did a sim session for gapping with new set and i was surprised what you can get away with on bad shots. Purposely did some super bad shots and they still get out there well. Was very surprised.
Thin shots. Hitting super fat or straight duffs. Toe strikes all of them I was like “really??” From what I was getting away with Being they almost get close to the same distance on a stock shot. I’d choke down a 7iron to wedge length and hit it feet together and still get 155 yards with not really trying. Super easy clubs from what I’m use to and still feel nice.

Testing out my set on the simulator. I ordered mine 1 degree weak and 0.5 upright.  The long irons are awesome , and the gapping between clubs seems solid except for the PW. The PW is spinning 10,000 plus and maybe 3-5 yards longer than the GW. I have never spun a PW that hard before and it’s leaving me a 20-25 gap between PW and 9 iron. I’ll have to get the lofts check when  I get a chance. I’ll be curious to see what the swing weights are as well. They feel light.

I was able to go get my 8 through gap wedge specs checked out. My PW and 8 irons were 3 degrees off  from my ordered lofts. There was only 1 degree separating the 8 and 9 , and 1 degree difference between my pw and gw. This is my third custom order set from Mizuno and this is the first time I’ve had any issues. Disappointed with Mizuno, but I’ll survive.

I have not noticed anything odd playing my set distance wise between clubs but I will be getting them checked. The problem is depending on the machine and the people using it things can be all over the place, the way they clamp it and is the machine calibrated could really change the outcome. There is no one in my town I trust to do it presently.

I think the really sad part is if you order custom loft or lie we as consumers trust they will be right or at least close, say +/- 1 deg.

Unless Mizuno is using folks off the street in Georgia how can they be so far off, I would think they have top notch equipment to work with so it has to come down to the person doing the work.

When I went to the Ben Hogan factory during the 1st revival the folks working there were very nice and took pride in their work but not one of them was a "golf pro" juat regular folks working for I would guess standard wages for the area.

Direct from Mizuno? There are several other retailers that offer custom builds at no extra charge. Some will even digital loft and lie spec for a small fee.

Played mine for the 1st time at Inglewood CC, WA this week.

Had a good ball striking day and a great time. They're great. Playing partner has the 923s with 130g shafts and they are absolute missiles.

Added a 48* T1 Pro Wedge on my way home as on course I just can't swing that 925F 48* "gap" wedge the way I want for the 105-120y shots which I had a few. Would rather have a single piece in my hands with predictable bounce.

Well, darn.  I "handled" the new ones in a store (didn't hit them) and nothing jumped out at me to second guess my 923s.  I was going to arrange a demo/fitting of some TM Hi-Toes in a couple of weeks, may as well hit some irons as well, lol.

My playing partner has the 923Fs with 130g KBS shafts. My 925Fs have MMT125S.

We swapped clubs a few times on the range and during the round and both of us could not really tell any real differences. I didn't think he was missing anything by not "upgrading" and neither did he

I may not either, but I love hitting irons and I'm wanting to try a slightly heavier shaft with a little less torque so may as well put another head on one.

I'm similar.  Nothing wrong with my 919 Tours, in fact they've performed really well.  But wanted a slightly lighter shaft with a higher launch.

The DG Mid fit this, and the black 925 edition look amazing.  Plus, you know, new clubs.
