Cbfodalo
I have played the 921 forged, and currently play the 923 forged. Now I am lusting after the 925 forged. Mizuno put allot of effort into a total redesign on the 925 forged. The hosel and face are still forged from a single billet, they use new hydraulic presses that allow them to compress face from back to specific densities. Then they can cnc mill the back face to thin out the face perimeter where it make the most sense to inceease forgiveness. Then they weld a ss sole and perimeter weighted back onto face. Previously when entire club was a one piece forging they could only mill back of face thiner by cutting a micro slot through sole. Now since they do not have to cut through sole they can go back to the older style tri cut sole. Slight bevel on leading edge and bigger bevel on rear edge of sole. I have scene this sole grind on older mizuno forged irons. I think mizuno have proven they will stay true to there traditions while improving tech. I don't love the lift jacking, but i have played a 30deg 7i for years now. I like the new approach to these 925 forged. Unlike some other brands who market thier clubs as forged when only the actual face is forged and welded to a cast body. Mizuno has kept the face and hosel as a 1 piece forging. I would love to hit these, but if I do I will probabale buy them. I am committed to getting through two more seasons with current setup.

Jim53
I am waiting for the new 4 iron then I am taking them to someone and have all the lofts / lies checked and I am thinking of going 1-2 strong to take some of the leading edge relief out of play (if that makes any sense). They launch plenty high and drop and stop so I don't think losing some spin would be that big of a deal. Is my thinking correct on this? I am also just curious to see what the L/L actually are from the factory, after quite a few rounds I do see some strange gaps at times that I put those off to swing issues. Which it certainly may be. EDIT I think I am backasswards on my thinking and would need to take the loft from 38 to 40 on the nine so it is actually weaking the lofts? Now I have confused myself haha Edited May 9 by Jim53 Quote Callaway Eylte TD Max 9 deg. Autoflex 405 Titleist GT2 15 deg. Autoflex 505x Titleist GT3 18 deg. Cbfodalo
I think having loft and lie checked is always a good idea. I remember when I took my jpx923 forged in to get lie changed, I wanted to check all the lofts. I wanted to address some gaping issues between my 6i and 7i as well as my gw and sw. Turns out both only where my lifts all off a little but lie angle was not to stock spec either. I was not.totally supposed as they where purchased used. Very new but in need of adjustment. I am trying a couple new shafts in next few days, once I settle on shaft to game, I will bring them in to check loft and lie. In fact I am debating on getting one of the golfworks loft and lie machines to check myself.

driveandputtmachine
Earlier this year I decided A. I am old and it is time to go down to stiff flex in my irons. B. Even though I do my own club work and love my Cobra Tour's I should test new irons instead of re-shafting them. So I started down the road, got some time at PGA Tour SS, Club Champion, and quite a few demo days at my club and also a few rounds with some loaner sets at my club. I have to play graphite in my irons due to a wrist injury from the past. In the end I did not want something huge and ugly, but also didn't really care if it improved my distance dispersion and my left to right dispersion stayed the same or got better. I also needed to be able to hold a green(less than 20 feet of roll out with a 5 iron) The finalists were the 925 Forged and the Cobra 3DPrinted irons, with the Cobra Tours just a smidge behind them. The 3DP's were better, but it was just a smidge based on all the locations I tried the two irons, and the price was not quite worth the nominal increase. I just got back from a 6 day 6 rounds of golf trip where for four days we played a Ryder Cup style event. While I did hurt my back in singles and had to withdraw after hurting it, I had hit 9 of the 11 greens I played. The day before in Cap Choice I only missed four greens, in ALT shot I missed one, and in Best Ball I think I missed 4. In the two warm up rounds I hit the irons very well, one day I think I missed 4 and the other day I missed 5. Once I get my driver experiment worked out and my back is better, I expect my handicap to drop significantly, this is the best I have hit my irons in 3+ years, and my putting has turned a corner. If I could convince myself to practice chipping/pitching I might get back to scratch or below, but I just hate that practice. 3 Quote Driver - Callaway Elyte TD Max - Tensei Black X | Ping G430 Max 10k - Aldila Rogue White 130 MSI TX "3" Wood - Taylormade R7 Mini 13.5 - Ventus 70 Purple X 4 Wood - Ping G440 Max - Ventus 70 TR Red X 7 Wood - Ping G430 Max - Ventus 70 Purple X 5-GW Mizuno 925 Forged - MMT 105s | 5 - GW Cobra Tour - Axiom 105X SW Titleist SM10M - MMT 125s | LW Titleist SM10T - MMT 125s Putter - LAB DF3 - Accra White | LAB OZ.1i - Accra White Ball - Srixon Z-Star Diamond | Maxfli Tour X
JRL2
I also have an old wrist injury, so I have a new set of 925 forged with MMT 125s drying now. I played one round with the KBS steel shafts that came with them and knew I could not continue down that road. I hit them well that round, but my wrist is still sore from just one outing. I have been playing 921 JPX HMP with MMT 105tx that have been great, just wanted to try something with more spin, and better feel. We shall see.

Jim53
Picked up the 4 iron to match the set, playing in the morning. beluga99
Played this morning and shot a 71 (+1) with 13/18 greens in reg, and 3 birdies. The irons were on point. Very forgiving on less than stellar swings, and their preference is to go high and straight. I really thought about the 105s. What I wished was that had offered the 95s. But they don’t so I gambled with the 85. The few swings I made with the 85’sin the simulator did produce good numbers.
