Practice facilities at or near Burbank? Any fun courses nearby?

My son moved to Burbank last July and we are wondering where are the good practice ranges or any fun course nearby? I haven't been back since last July and my son wants to start practicing also playing golf again. I would like to practice or play a round when I go to visit him at end of February. When he lived at Fremont for couple years, there was a practice range couple blocks away and it was nice being able to go there.

I do see few courses nearby but I don't know much about them at this time.

Los Angeles area golf is not all that different from what had in Fremont... meaning the choices are few and far between. Right in Burbank is DeBell GC - a quirky very fun golf course that has a range... but it's mats and no great shakes... no short game area or anything. Not too far away are each of El Cariso (Sylmar) and Scholl Canyon (Glendale) - both fun executive courses, same story re range/practice.

That's about it close to Burbank....

I miss Cascades right of the 405 in Sylmar. Built into a odd mountain terrain, but was in good shape.

Lost Canyons was awesome. One of the best ranges for a public course anywhere. Immaculate all grass fairway cut hundred yard wide range. Wood rocking chairs and sunsetting over the mountain. That was a real shame, both courses, was hoping they would have one survive.

Robinson Ranch as well. Think they lost one course there.

it's all very sad to me. What's very very sad also is it seems that each of Eaton Canyon and Scholl Canyon are burning in the current fires... jeez might get over to DeBell... very very scary.

Thanks for the info and to all of you for interesting info. Yes, my son is watching the news. Eaton fire is uncomfortably close to where he lives. Gotta feel badly for all the affected population.

DeBell looks like an interesting and fun course.

DeBell is very fun I think. That being said... it is quirky... lots of layups... very tight... some don't like it. I tend to love stuff like that, so have played it a lot.

Let's hope the fire doesn't spread in that direction! And best to your son. There's been a lot of loss already near Eaton.

If you want indoor, I highly recommend City Golf in Sherman Oaks. Great facility with GCQuads and Unekoors. Though their Koreatown location has all GCQ in their bays.
