Cleveland RTZ Wedges! In-Hand Pics!

Bought a cheap RTZ 56-Mid in satin this past week to use as a test head and play around with some different wedge shafts, and man these are really growing on me. Wasn't a fan at first with all the logos, but that Tour rack with all black paint fill on the grind/bounce and the "tour rack" text does look great. This pic from the Brooks WITB in particular. Still wish they rusted...

Mine just arrived last week.  Still waiting on my 48*.  So far, I’m impressed.  Really loved the zipcore tr I played a couple of seasons ago.  The RTZ’s feel so damn good and look great at address.  Picked up the 60* adapt and the sole design is outstanding.  So versatile.

I think they are following Vokey's lead and are starting to make more custom heads and grinds for pros. Rickie Fowler's wedge looks like a Hideki copy to me and Justin Rose's doesn't look like it is retail.

Interesting.  Hopefully that means they trickle down to the consumer.  Vokey has a massive collection of lofts and grinds.

was wondering if many have gamed the adapt yet? I abhor the full face, but grind looks intriguing. Any comparison to the mid or other grinds?

as someone coming from Vokey and Mizuno wedges it’s a little strange only seeing 3-4 grind/bounce options but honestly a little easier

Received an email stating the Tour Rack RTZ 54* Full wedge is going to be unavailable for an extended period of time and was offered a refund or a stock option as a replacement. I ordered custom shafts and the S grind. Asked if the 54* Mid with the heel and toe grind would be an option. Haven’t heard back.

Would 52bent to 54 work ?

It would technically, but I’ve bent a wedge before and I don’t like how the offset changes. It’s subtle, but to my eye anyway, it’s noticeable.

They’ve been in communication and I asked if I could change to a 54 Mid with heel and toe grind. They said yes, that the 54 Mid will be in stock early June and they will overnight the wedge when ready.

Anyone play the mid in a LW with a sharpened leading edge and heel relief? I think the low grind will be too diggy for me, but hoping for a little less bounce than the mid for tight lies.

I don’t but I can think that would work.

To your first post, I think the play lower bounce that they are compared to say vokey.  I wish I would have went full on my 52 and 56

Despite getting a fair amount of rain recently, I've found the 60.06 low bounce hasn't dug into the ground too much for me.  I'm coming from playing the vokey T grind bent from 4 bounce to 5.

Have really enjoyed the RTZ.  They really screwed the pooch on inventory though.  To be completely out of quite a few heads in the dead middle of golf season is insane.

Besides the lack of inventory mid-season, was disappointed in weight sorting/quality control of these heads. Had a very trustworthy shop that has access to heads only order 52, 58 mid RTZ tour wedges for build, 52 came in 10 grams light from spec and 58 came in 4 grams over. When shop attempted to follow up with rep., several options back-ordered, out of stock. Having played original RTX tour rack and RTX6 tour rack, was highly disappointed after hearing great deal of positive feedback about this release.

I do sincerely wonder how they messed it up so bad. Maybe with Roger Cleveland coming back he was adamant about going to more grinds like other OEMs, so they pivoted and we’ll see a new release next year that just adds grind options? Other than that it is extremely bizarre to severely understock a new release that they were clearly very proud of.

….  Plus they don't upsell a lot of shafts like Titleist does.

This has been great to see, plenty of options without the $$$.

Used Cleveland’s back in the day but been on Vokey’s for quite awhile. I recently saw these and was impressed by the looks and tech/alloy updates? It was time for a wedge refresh so I gave these a shot. Got the 52/56/60 in Mid and Tour Rack.  I play the KBS wedge shaft but was able to order them in KBS Tour 120 at +1” for no charge. Tipped it 1/2” and cut it to length in order to make the KBS Wedge shaft myself.

Been super happy with the performance and feel.  They seem a touch longer, about 5yds or so, which seems weird but they are.  Feel is softer than the Vokey and the sound is a touch more muted.

Did a touch of customization to them so I thought I would share the photo.

I dig it, looks good!

My guess is the grooves, they feel more prominent than vokey grooves.  Maybe they grab the ball more and that's why you are getting a little more distance.  Wild theory.  Either way, you could always weaken them 1 degree if the extra distance bothers you.

been using these all year.  Superior to the SM10 and I'm a Titleist slappy.

Soooo good.  Easier to hit on full shots.  I play square shots only and the Mid grind is perfect.

Just bought a set in black for fun.

As my SM9s seem to be losing some spin and I’ve recently switched from T150s to ZXi7 irons, the Cleveland RTZ wedges have caught my eye.

Is there any ZXi7 user who can comment on how the RTZ 46° compares to the set pitching wedge? I’ve always found I hit my 50° SM9 (bent slightly strong) much better than any set PW — whether it was from the T150s or the New Level 623CB — which has me seriously considering replacing the set PW with a specialty wedge.

It’s also interesting that some pros (Koepka, Straka, Bradley) seem to go RTZ 46° → 52° → 56° → 60°, while others like Spaun and Lowry stick with the set PW and go 50°/54°/58° or 60°. I’m curious how that 6° jump from 46° to 52° works for the first group. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who's tried something similar.
