Payntr Golf 2025

Recommended Posts

Sharing my experience to help with anyone on the fence about Payntr, specifically the Match Day SC. TL; DR: I returned them almost immediately after receiving them. They just weren't for me.

Fit: I ordered my normal size (10 Regular) and for me they run true to size but slightly longer than I'd like. I'm a 9.5W in Foot Joy Premiers and 10 in Ecco and Nike Jordan 1 G low top for reference. They are wide in the toe box as others have mentioned.

Comfort: They're very comfortable. The midsole foam is firm but has some springiness to it, similar to a running shoe. The insole is nice and provides some step-in comfort as well. Could see these being great for walking.

I decided to return them based on two main drawbacks:

One is the materials. For the price they were definitely lacking in my opinion. The white upper -- which I think is leather -- has a very unpleasant, shiny finish to it and it feels cheap, thin, and not as premium as the price would suggest. Holding them next to my FJ Premier or comparing them to Ecco's performance leather and the difference is night and day. The leather (?) heel counter looked bad as did the black trim on top of the tongue and the ankle collar. The midsole foam reminded me of a styrofoam cup. Running companies have done a good job making foams feel premium and Payntr should take note.

Second draw back was how they looked on foot. This is subjective but they're surprisingly bulky and not as streamlined as I was expecting. They look pretty goofy with tailored pants and shorts. Not really my style but could see some people being into them.

Overall, it's a compelling shoes but pretty disappointed with the finished product once you start to compare it to other shoes in its price range.

So fit and comfort is good but look and materials is not for you?

Oh I know I'm the same, I'm just making sure it was a personal choice on the looks and build. I've tried on many shoes where it was comfortable and fit well but I didn't buy cause the look wasn't for me or something else.

I just want to make sure they're a good fit, in my eye they look just fine to me but because no one sells them in Canada and I have to order from the US I'm going to be hit with a duty and tariff charge which is like 40% and if I return them I don't get that back. So if I have to return a pair I'm out that money.

I know and thanks, I should just opt for a shoe I can get from a big brand already in Canada like FJ or Adidas but I really like the look of these and the tech so will see.

I'm kinda fingers crossed the big golf shop up in Canada brings these in, they've had Payntrs before so even if they only bring in standard I can order try and return here.

I have the SC87 bought them the day they came out. I have about 40 pairs of golf shoes and they are probably in my top 2 if not 1 for comfort, everyday looks, and I love the material haha to each their own doesn’t come off cheap to me just is different and incredibly easy to clean… I’ve been waiting for them to drop some more colors because I would easily pick up a few more pairs .. sign up for the those texts or emails and you can get the 10% code

Anyone try the X Tour Proto RS? Wondering about sizing and other feedback.

Sizing is the same for the 87s and Moving Days and they're slightly less comfortable than both of those shoes due to it to the higher heel collar in the X Proto design IMO. Stability in all their higher end models is just great! They're in my rotation and definitely the go to shoe on wetter days.

Purchased the X Tour Proto RS. I'm a 9 in FJs (medium width) so ordered the same size. Felt very snug across the foot (width). Purchased a different style from PGASS in 9.5 to see if they fit better since you cannot try them on in a physical store around here. The 9.5s fit much better. I'm retrurning the 9s for the 9.5s. I walk alot at my club so it'll be interesting if these hold up and are comfortable. I usually wear GFore for walking and FJ when in a cart.

Ordered and received a pair of the 87 SC's and really like the grip and stability so far. Comfort wise it took me 9 holes and wearing the shoes around the house when I was home for a few days to break them in but seem better now.

Can anyone who has owned these shoes for an extended period of time tell me if the initial sheen wears off after some use? I thought they would be a matte finish from the pictures but they are a little shiny for my tastes. Hoping this dissipates with wear.

Just picked up a pair. I’m a 10 in Nike and a 9 in FJ, so went with 9.5 and they fit well. Haven’t played yet but impressed with the comfort and quality. I see why Rose uses them.

I got a chance to check these shoes out last weekend at our club, worn by the son of a friend.  Sorry, but there is no way these are ‘better than anything Footjoy or other OEMs produce for high end golf shoes’.  They looked like a cheap pair of first generation Squairz.  The shine on them was comical.  To each his own, style is personal.  But quality is not and these are not on the quality level of a Footjoy.

Yup to each their own...I have no issues with them and I actually wear them in play, not "observe" someone wearing them...

Payntr makes more than one model.  Their highest end models, in my experience, have better leather and way more tech in them than Footjoy.  The FJ Premier has been a good shoe for me, but my Payntr's are definitely on a different level when it comes to overall craftsmanship (coming from a guy who spends WAY more on a non-golf pair of shoes than anything FJ or Payntr charges) and cost of materials.

That said, my first pair of Payntr's were quite ugly, hence the incoming SC 87's.

I purchased the Moving Day SC RS in the white with navy blue accents. These are my first pair of Payntrs after being an avid Footjoy Premier fan. I wear an 11.5 in most shoes. For Footjoy, I wear an 11 medium, and ordered the 11.5 medium in the Payntrs. We walked 18 this past Sunday, and I was impressed with the traction, comfortability, and the wider toe box. I did notice a slight shine to the leather, but not a problem for me. My old Footjoy Tarlows would scrunch my toes on my follow through to the point where I struggled getting to my front side in my swing (probably should've gone with a wide in Footjoy). That wasn't the case with the Payntr's. My toes were comfortable and my heel felt locked into the shoe, but my only gripe was that my toes did get a little hot after the first 9 holes (weird, but could've been the Stance tab socks I was wearing). I will be attempting to buy the white with black snake pattern accents that Jason Day wore at the Masters when they are released. An insider at Payntr said they plan to do a limited release of those this Fall! The customer service at Payntr is impeccable and I will be a return customer. My only recommendation would be to wear thin socks. I just purchased the Nike Spark Lightweight socks to try out this Friday with the PAyntrs.

Thanks for that review. Has anyone used both the Moving Day SC RS and the Eighty Seven SC? Looking for feedback and comparisons of the two.

IMO, there's a very slight comfort and performance edge to the 87 SC. I believe the Carbitex plate has everything to do with this opinion. Both shoe designs are great and you can't go wrong with either.

Bought a pair of Payntr's last year based on all of the great things I've heard here, on MGS, YouTube and whatever else Google led me to.

I went with the 001s as they were the only color variation that had any appeal to me.

They have been fantastic.  But I really think Payntr needs to step up their designs.  Every shoe, every color way, every variation is the same exact boring thing.

I know lots of people love them and that's great, but they have to offer something for those of us who want more modern, colorful, or stylish designs.  White, Black, Grey... White with a blue heel accent.

Congratulations, that's every design and color way that they've ever had in 5 years.  😴

I would gladly own multiple pairs if they could ever branch out.

I just got my pair in last week and I’ve been on the fence about keeping them. I played a round in them today (9 holes) and liked how stable they were. I am comparing these to the Victory Pro 4 shoes, which I think are fantastic. I’d give the edge in comfort to these just slightly over the VP4. I noticed zero pain after wearing these today, granted I was playing in spongy paspalum compared to walking 18 in 90+ degree heat in Houston last Friday. I do like these shoes and they’re growing on me.

My overall experience with Payntr was pretty awful. I purchased a pair of Match Day SCs. After 2 rounds, the soles on one of the shoes started to come off. I emailed customer service twice, and got no response whatsoever. I'm going to just return the shoes and eat the $10 shipping fee. Good riddance. I will NEVER purchase anything from Payntr again.

$200 for these pieces of s**t? Nah, dude.
