Given the weight and how they describe the trajectory, my hunch is it's a competitor to Modus 120...

It says it is a Rifle shaft. Could it be similar to standard PX Rifle but 10-15g lighter with a softer tip? That would be popular.

So the red rifle 6.5 is similar to the LZ 6.0 then? I like it. How soon are these available in the Titleist custom shop?

I think the lz is a mid soft profile.  Px stiff butt, soft/loading zone middle, project x tip.

 

the px red looks to be px stiff butt and mid, and then a softer active tip.  Think modus 130 in regular or stiff and kbs tour v, or even kbs tour.

Ah. Gotcha.

The weight and specs were similar, which made me think of the LZ in 6.0, but if the 120g version is anything like the KBS Tour Stiff with added 'Rifle' characteristics from PX, they'll be good.

agreed still need a PXi replacement 120 6.5 slightly softer tip. its almost what LZ is but lighter.

I never hit the PXI. How were they different to the IO? I play 6.0's. I'm interested in doing a side by side of the 6.0's.

It's not the IO is a "bad shaft" but IO has a way more "one piece" classic PX feel than PXi.  PXi absolutely had a whip like reaction and was a little more user friendly.   Or at least in the 5.5 & 6.0 it did I don't have any experience with the 6.5.

I looked into it after I saw your post. I read that someone had them checked at Cool Clubs and theirs were soft to flex. Might be why they discontinued? They did sound pretty interesting. I know what you're saying on the IO's. More feel for me than Nippons I've played but I'm thinking some tip action on the PX Reds might be a missing link. I also like them because I can get after them and they handle a more aggressive swing unlike a lot of other stiff shafts. Add a bit more feel to that and I'd have a hard time trying to find something better.

PXi’s were super smooth with a noticeable kick/whip. You saw a handful of tour players playing them in their driving irons at one time. There’s nothing currently in the Project X that is a direct replacement. I agree with the above post that this looks like a like a lighter version on the LZ.

I can confirm this shaft is great (and somewhat reminds me of the PXI) Just put it in play.  It’s is for sure a lighter weight PX but actually has some feel to it.  Compared to PX (6.0s in both) it launches 1.5 degrees higher but adds no additional spin (for me at least).  Where is really shines is in the 4-6 irons with a much steeper decent angle.
