Callaway Elyte Ti Fairway Woods Info

I had a chance to try a used 430LST, 440 Max and 440LST at Roger Dunn today against the Elyte Ti all in 15 degree. The Pings did not feel as hot off the face and were all a little shorter by about 7-10 yards than the Elyte Ti. The shafts could have attributed to the gap in distance. The Elyte Ti has this addictive pop when you hit it.

In the end I left with the 3HL as the 3 wood was a little too long for what I needed.

I tried the 430 LST and it was way too low spin for me, 2600 on solid strikes.  The Elyte Ti is coming in right around 3k, which is fine.  Also find the sound and feel superior on the Elyte.  Having said that I’m moving back into a G430 Max

I played the G425 prior to the G430, so a few years in Ping FW.  I tried the Elyte because I primarily use 3 wood as a secondary off the tee club, and I was looking for a little more distance and forgiveness, which it provides.  I just found I was a little more consistent with the Ping (accuracy). Truth be told I like the sound/feel better in the Elyte, Ping easier to launch from fairway

I kind of assumed this is what you'd say.  It seems many of us have tried or ventured outside the Ping FW's to get more distance, but everyone ends up back at them because of accuracy and forgiveness.  They consistently rank very high on the fitters choice going back to the G400 and G410's but they really seemed to explode on G425 and G430.  Now G440 too.

Yes the Elyte TI is much better sounding, feel and performance for me. I think performance from what I can tell come down to launch on the Elyte. It launches high and is a ball speed monster. I am still dialing in a shaft choice but I have been very very impressed with the TI in the 16.5 head

Just dropped my charcoal Denali 3w shaft (70g 6.5) into the 5w Elite Ti, and changed weight config from 6-10 to 4-14 … and boom … very VERY nice

Fwiw … will have the 3w back Monday with a smoke green 70tx in it, 1/2” longer than standard

As a follow-up and add-on question,  does anyone have a comparison with smoke TD 3wd?

The ti 3W is sort of the perfect mini driver that isn’t a mini driver.  It’s a one trick pony for me- but it does that trick extremely well.

From the deck, the 5W is no slouch!

I've compared the Elyte TI 3W to my AIS TD 3W, and overall pretty similar.  I actually prefer the sound/feel of the AI Smoke, a little more lively with a more noticeable 'pop' on good hits and maybe more feedback.  But the TI wasnt bad.  The long hits with the ETI were slightly longer.  It seemed like the Elyte TI 3W had slightly lower and slightly more consistent spin (had a heavy weight forward), but the dispersion plots looked quite similar.  Tested with same shaft and at same head weight.

So no extra forgiveness or ballspeed gains with Elyte ti? That's a shame.....

I would say no obvious extra forgiveness other than possible spin consistency.  Certainly not a noticeable ballspeed change.  The AI Smoke TD 3W has a Ti face as well, which a lot of people do not seem to realize.

You sure about that ti face on smoke td ? I've never seen that ANYWHERE 😳

that is incorrect on the AI smoke TD 3w.  No Ti face.

It says that on the callaway website plus I asked at an in person fitting at Callaway HQ in Carlsbad, which the fitter confirmed when we were comparing the two heads.

Edit: Well, i remember seeing that on the callaway website, but did not see it just now when I just checked.  Weird.  Regardless the point about the fitter confirming it stands.

The fitter was mistaken. We’re human, fallible, and have so many details rattling around in our heads that we cannot be right all the time about every gritty detail.

For those of you that have hit this:  Would you consider this a high or low launching club off the deck?  I plan to use this exclusively from the fairway since I already have a driver and Mini driver.  I'm hoping to replace a Ping G425 3 wood (14.5) that I don't hit super high but high enough to hold greens.  Can't decide if I should get the Ti 3 wood, 3HL or even 5 wood.   The objective is to reach par 5s that Ping can't get to.

you will have to go test it yourself.  Everyone delivers the club different at impact.  I have found out for me is the Ti head is very easy to hit off the turf.  My flight with the 3w( Diamana ZF 7x) is a flat ball flight compared to my Qi35 tour 3w with the weight forward w/ TR ventus Red 7x.  Plus the sound and feel is a bit more tinny for the Elyte Ti.  Qi35 is more of a crack feel and muted sound.  Hope this helps some.

I am a 0 AOA with a 3wood. I thought before hitting them that I was going to be a 3HL or even 5wood. I ended up with 15, 105 height 3000 spin off the deck. On a tee however I am 115 peak height but only1950 spin ( I hit a draw). Long story short I finally ordered the 15 today from my club. I have it coming at 43" and D4 swing weight. Cally said one to two weeks...

This information helps a lot as I hit with similar AOA.  However, I think I will want a higher launch than you.  I know that my Callaway Mini driver did not come alive until I put the heavy weight forward.  I will probably do the same and adjust the loft....    I can always take the 3HL down to 15.5 if I need to.

Not a Callaway player.. But got to hit it today. Let me tell you something, this thing is a missile launcher and it launches high and was consistently farther than my TSi2 by about 7-8yards. The flight was perfect. It was mind boggling. If it wasnt $450, i would get it.
