Odyssey AI Square to Square Putter Grip

Just curious as to what putter grip would compare to the stock putter grip offering that I could buy.

Winn pro x putter grip.  It comes in 3 sizes. 1.18, 1.32 and 1.60.  The 1.32 should be the same size as the S2S grip.

I’ll never understand why Odyssey insists on those crappy grips 99% of the time.

Everybody has their own feel.  the Winn grip seems to have a different exterior than the Odyssey grip, but I will check it out.

Can you change the stock grip to say a SuperStroke Traxion Tour 2.0 without altering the characteristics of the putter?  Or would a forward press type grip be a better option?  Got a STS Jailbird arriving this week and I’m not a huge fan of the stock grip.

What grips have people put on their S2S putters? I would be looking for one that is similar in size to the Odyssey grip that came with it, but would like something with a better feel.

Did a callaway demo today and the rep told me a lot of the staff guys rolling a s2s have opted with lab grips. Unsure which one but definitely worth the try.

Would a Superstroke 3.0 17” be thicker than the stock “Square 2 Square” one on the cruiser?

I’m currently in the process of choosing a new grip. I’ve always been a fan of the superstroke flatso. However, I’m trying to decide on either the 1.0 or 2.0, they feel very similar, but I want to match the weight since I really like the balance as is.
 

I found that the oversized odyssey grip is around 67 grams but also read in another forum that the grip that comes with the square to square had an additional 30 grams of weight at the tip (97 grams total).  

I might ask the shop to weigh the grip before replacing it. If they won’t or can’t I will replace it with the Flatso 2.0 (50 grams) and then try adding the 25 gram or 50 gram weight to see which feels better. 
 

Anyway just some food for thought while you pick a new grip.

I had a Lab Press ll 3* on mine. I loved it. 

 

The shaft rusted inside after just 3 months. The shaft snapped 1/4" below the Lab grip. We couldn't save the grip.  Callaway replaced the putter under warranty. But with an original grip. After using it once with the original grip, I'll probably order another Lab Press ll 3*  grip.

FYI, the stock odyssey grip for the STS Jailbird is 120 grams. I emailed Callaway/Odyssey to find out the official weight. If you like the balance, I would suggest replacing it with one of similar weight.

I just blew off a standard grip from a Odyssey S2S #7 35". Firstly it was a pig to get off and I have done many clubs previously. The grip weighed 68 grams. I am cutting the putter down to 34.5. It should be noticed there is a large (brass ?) counterweight inserted in the shaft. If you cut off 1/2 an inch of shaft this will weigh 15 grams including brass lug, so careful consideration should be given to any replacement grip for SW effects.

I just replaced the stock grip with a Lab Press ll 3*.  The stock was tough to get off.  This is a replacement putter under warranty.  The original shaft snapped in half as it was rusted completely through from the inside.  Couldn't save the Lab grip I had on it as it snapped right at the grip. I love the putter with the Lab grip. Not so much with the stock grip.

I replaced my S2S Jailbird with a LAB Press Pistol 2.0.  I could not be happier.  The stock grip is terrible looking, but I putted ok with it.  The press grip seems to free me up, feels a little more natural because it’s not as oversized, and it places the hands in a press position which is perfect for this club.  I’ve never felt so straight back and straight through - this thing is point and shoot.  If you navigate the Callaway website, you MIGHT find a statement that they offer their own version of what sounds like a press grip, for this club, for a custom upgrade fee.  But when I pretend like I’m going to order it, that option doesn’t appear.  I’m not surprised this thread about that stock grip exists, because the first thing I wanted to do when I got the club was change that out…
