G440 FW

I hit the 3w in Max and LST last night. Overall, the max wanted to get back straight no matter how I hit it for straight, but was workable too.  This was with Tensei black 75x.  LST for

me was fading most times and I need to eliminate that miss. I’m trying to accept less distance and finding fairway. I think I’m going to test the 3w and 4w with my shaft over the next few weeks and see what I find. 

 

Anyone else?

G440 max fairway has been great for me in testing. Seeing the best ball speed out of that club then I’ve seen in any other fairway wood before. Super forgiving and the deeper face is a huge win. I’m not sure how it is for you, but I’m seeing the spin be similar between the lst and max. I think most people will be better off in the max. It’s early still for me, but this has been my favorite fairway wood I’ve hit in a long time.

Agree - saw the same thing. And everything wanted to come back to the center of fairway (sim). The LST stayed more fade biased.

Did you hit, or ordered anyway?  I want to see gapping  on 3 vs it. Straight out loft looks good and then I play a 19 hybrid

No, I ordered it without hitting it. I have played Ping fwy woods for over 20yrs, so not worried about performance. Plus there’s plenty of adjustments so no doubt it will work. Just from previous experience I will probably play it in the flat - setting.

Does anyone know how much lighter the High Launch heads will be over the regular heads? It's the same club, just with an aluminum plug instead of the standard back weight. Seems like a nice option for over-length players like me trying to get some SW points back.

I saw some stuff last night on the drivers being D3 vs D6 last year.  I thought much of HL was that shaft too (I bought for my 82 year old Dad).

Well....  G440LST 3W coming home.  I bought an adapter on line and am having it fit to my TRBlue 7S, tipped 3/4 of an inch.  It flew straight too, but had great launch and ability to come back to center.  Standard 430 adapter was flying at 120-150peak height, but still went without much roll out.  I want to control that.

Yes, better speed across the face. Never got 159 ball speed with g430.

Hit the LST with Tensei Black 75x on sim last week, all off the mat. Best 3w I've hit yet, relatively forgiving and LONG. All 250+ carry, a few rolled out to 275+, good dispersion, plenty workable. $550 for a 3w is crazy, but it's probably going in the bag very soon and will be there for a long while.
