Denali Charcoal Shaft in Callaway Elyte X Drivers

Hi All,

In the Callaway Elyte X drivers, Callaway is offering the Denali Charcoal 50g shaft. There is nothing on project X’s site about these shafts, just Denali blue, red, and black. I think these Charcoals are mid launching? But that puzzles me because the Elyte X is made for golfers that generally have slower swing speeds (like me), and/or golfers that struggle to get the ball in the air and need help. Plus those that prefer a bit of a draw bias, like the ai smoke max d. Does anyone have any insight on the Denali Charcoal’s launch or other shafts?

The shaft must be a “made for” shaft. You need to hit it before buying. 
 

When someone describes a shaft as mid launch, you don’t know what it’s compared to. I might hit it higher than you. So for me, it could be a high launch shaft. 

 

The Elyte X head will launch higher than the standard Elyte head because of the weight placement in the head.

The charcoal is just a different color painted Denali Blue - same profile.  This has been confirmed by Project X.

Hello1 I just received my new Callaway Elyte X driver & woods with Denali Charcoal 50 & 60 5.5, and these definately are mid trajectory flight. More of a piercing flight, which I prefer. I made a good choice, as I naturally hit a high shot.

I just looked at the True Temper Website some of the specs are the same in the stiffer shafts but some of the specs are different in the weaker and lighter shafts.

 

I suspect this is actually “made for”??

It’s not. It’s been confirmed by both Callaway and PX charcoal is blue under different paint scheme

I hear what you both are saying, but the Callaway wrapping our shop yesterday said some of them were slightly different. He even said it was made for them 😂. All I know is if I look at the true temper website, the specs for the charcoal and the specs for the blue are different in terms of torque and weight in certain categories. Only by a few grams or 0.1 of a degree, but it’s there. I think I’ll just get the blue to be safe.

Struggling to believe that the blue and charcoal editions are the same shaft and just different paint job; they have different weights and different butt diameters. Perhaps broadly similar as in mid/mid, but they are not the same.

I have an Ai Smoke TD Max driver with a Denali blue, and a Elyte TD Max with a Denali charcoal…same length, same grip…when I swap the shafts, the swing weights are different so while they may say the shafts are the same, they are not…based on what I have seen from my own experience, the charcoal launches a little bit lower. Feel is similar, but launch is different for sure.

I resently brought Taylormade mens QI35 Driver Ventus 5-s Fujikura in NZ then went on hoilday in the UK, ended up at a driving range and tested the CobraKing DS adapt X drive with Denali Charcoal?? shaft. This was amazing so different from my Qi35 i loved it straight away and brought it tried to shipping it back to NZ but was difficult so returned it. Arriving back in NZ I brought the CobraKing DS adapt X but it came with Denali blue 60G 6.0 stiff 5S, handle so differently I'm struggling to find out why. They say there the same but they are Not.

I trying to contact the shop in the uk to find out exzacly what Denali charcoal shaft he used.

Are you sure it wasn’t the Denali black shaft? Charcoal isn’t a stock option for cobra.
