I recently saw a video with the Cobra Tour Rep, he said each iron takes 24 hours to produce via 3D printing..doesn’t seem feasible for mass procuction at this point.

The fact is 3D printing/additive manufacturing is still very expensive. These were never going to be inexpensive. Prices will come down and I believe it has the potential to possibly be cheaper than current processes but we are probably years out from that right now.

 

Yeah even these production models are probably out of reach for a lot of people, including me. That said I'm glad they are doing it, they gotta start somewhere and with how the Limited's seem to perform this feels like the future. 

 

I will also devils advocate here though, if these irons are durable and again, considering how well the Limiteds seem to perform and these will perform the same or better when would one want to replace them? Whats the average cost of better players irons? $1500? $1600 some are even $1800? 

 

If you get 5+ years out of set that cost starts to even out.

I've seen some folks sell the LIMIT3D ones here for <$2k, so while new retail is really high, the re-sales might make them more affordable. IMO more similar to Miura pricing i guess but the lore of a machine printing them isn't the same as forged i guess 🙂

What do we know at this point? Does OS actually mean "over-sized"? That would seem to me like a strange thing to print if the club is actually the same footprint as the King Tour which is actually in play ON the tour. Over Sized would scream GI to me, which the KT's are not.

 

On the same note, does the 3DPTour mean that it is the same as the King Tour only 3D printed? While that would make sense to me, I'm not sure we can count on that, either, unless there is more info on the club than I have seen (which is VERY possible as I don't have time to read every post and multiple websites).

Not sure what that even means. They print more than 1 at a time, and even so, there’s a whole bunch of post processing that has to happen. 

the value prop of additive is unmakable shapes and not needed a bunch of forging dies. They can make these in left handed with a click of a button. They can ramp up production to anyone with a powder bed additive machine. 
 

Depending on your definition of mass production, you are generally correct… it’s *completely* feasible, but maybe not cost effective.

These look great. Glad to see the Limit3d was successful enough to warrant a bigger release. Disappointed at the price tag, but based on the comments, it sounds like the economics aren't where they need to be to charge less. If MMT 125TX is offered as a "free" upgrade I'm likely in for a set

MMT thru Cobra is typically a $350 up charge

There is no upcharge currently for KT’s and CB/MB. Haven't looked through any others.

The MMT 105s and 125 tx are $100 more total vs the non upcharge steel shafts on the King Tour (KT)  and King Tec lines
 

$3,000 no charge in the Limited 3D 
$1,499 vs $1,399 in the King Tour

$1,399 vs $1,299 in the King Tec

I always order from DD. Not planning on buying any Cobra irons so won’t get a quote. But that would be my go to.

When you select graphite instead of steel it changes the total price $100.  But when selecting the actual shaft it shows no charge

I’ve been corrected. Just built a set of KT black and when building with MMT105 it was $100 more in cart. Thanks for the correction!

Cobra has done this for years with graphite being an automatic $100 price increase and some of them even more upcharge vs included for that $100

From an article I read this morning on another site, these are slightly smaller then the King Tour.
