I’ll probably hold off a month or so to see how many actual sets/styles of these get released. I’m already wary with how much offset the 4 iron has on the tours

The whole point is that every time they print an iron they are new iterations.  They'll be able to do whatever you want in the coming years.  Say you want the blade length and sole width or the P7TW but with the offset and topline of the t100, the bounce profile of another iron, and tungsten in the 4-7 irons only....put it in the system, let it compute and then hit 'print'.  They have built 100s of custom iron sets already that are unique for staffers. When this makes its way to production retail it will make the options on vokey wedges look like nothing and be at a competitive price.

Yeah it seems like this could be a breakthrough at the very high end of the market, adding a bespoke option to the traditional off-the-rack assortment. From a business point of view, Cobra might be best served by trying to gradually push the prices of the standard 3D printed sets down and then putting a whole lot of headroom between those and any full custom offering, if it arrives. I bet there's a viable market of price-insensitive customers who would pay $5K++ to design a set of irons precisely to their personal specifications with "1 of 1 for Richie Rich" inscribed on the hosel.

I do not automatically trust a fitter that they know the actual tech of products. Even more so that they have any clue in knowing about the cost of sourcing material alongside the marketing pricing products. 

 

Lets just say they use a multi laser direct sintering for it to metal print tungsten and SS, 10g of powered tungsten is not that much more expensive to reflect that price difference. 

 

So its more marketing to try to sell more product than it is a material cost.

The 3DP has less weight removed from the back of the club because it just has the logo and not the whole cobra name so it’ll have more forgiveness for high hits. Completely different club 😉

I got to hit a 7i at a fitting event last weekend. Pretty sure the original 3D as i didnt really look.

 

Been thinking for a word or a comparison of feel cause it's definitely not the same as a one piece forged, and I do not care what they anyone says, it does not transfer the same energy frequency through the hands.

 

It is not like anything hollow cavity but has a bit of a multi piece type feel. 

 

With similar performance forgiveness profile and lofts my comp is actually the callys apex Ti fushion irons. Ironically both overly priced lol

Didn’t a new to cobra staffer have an ‘OS’ a few weeks ago??  So three new irons?  3DP—3DP.OS—3DP.MB?  No inside info just trying to piece it together.  Really love the idea of 1-off sets for a $$$.  Would be super cool.

As compared to a ZX7 Mkii. The ZX has the reflective dot. I wish the 3DPs had a touch less sole width. They also have a bit more dishing on the sole from the front. 
 

I have to get back to work, but hit a few balls with each… I do not say this lightly, but they feel as good or better than the Mkiis. Wild.

Oof them soles are widddeee. I like the profile of the MKiis a bit better and I definitely can see the dishing you’re talking about. Let me know how they feel through some grass when the snow melts.

ZX7 has 1 degree more loft. The 3DPs feel better. Almost so good you lose the feedback where you hit it on the face. Both are really good. I have the ZX4 and ZX5 4 irons. The 3DP 4i iron was amazing, and initial feeling is that it's better than both. Lots of testing to do.

They need to sell them for maximum $ to fund the expansion of production.  If enough people buy them at the current price point they'll be able to offer the custom versions for half the price in 5 years theoretically.  So all you rich dudes buy them up for those of us that can't yet.  🙂
