Sounds like a unicorn set.

 

Small head packed with forgiveness.

 

Was told it's a smaller head with less offset compared to the king tours, but the 3dp is also more forgiving.

 

Definitely excited to hit them.

Got a few more rounds in with the 3DPs. Its taken a bit to get used to the MMT105TXs, but now I can't see going back to the Srixons. I've had some of the most satisfying iron shots with these. I've had to adjust to catching the ball a little lower on the face, but other than that, very happy.

Out of curiosity what made you go with this setup. After playing both sets I would

have reversed the combo. 8-pw in KT and 5-7 in the 3dp. The 3dp are incredibly forgiving for their size. Both sets are great.  I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

I was thinking the same.

 

king tour are less forgiving.  They are close to the same size so I was puzzled a bit too.

Because I have always tended to struggle with offset in the scoring clubs - 8,9,P

these have less than the KTours

that's my reasoning 

 

I am betting the forgiveness is basically a wash 

and

I hit the 5,6,7 fantastic in the Tours and don't find the offset in the longer irons an issue

I made a mistake and hit these a couple days ago... Then I went back and hit them again the day after I liked them so much!

 

I currently play T150s and they have been excellent but the feel of these and extra forgiveness in such an attractive package is appealing. 

The ONLY thing that gives me pause is my spin with the 7iron was like mid 4,000s which is too low. My T150s are 1000 RPMs higher and I am a good iron player and want to make sure the ball stops with ease. They didn't have my exact shaft, have played Nippon 105S last couple sets I have owned and was trying it with the DG 115 which I assume has something to do with it. I am also thinking if I order I would get 1 degree weak and maybe add that degree back in the 8, 9 and PW which is what my T150 lofts are. 

Also play a ProV1x which will also help. 

 

Anyone else experiencing lower spin numbers with these than typical? Other that that I am in love with this set...

Overdue response, but for me not enough spin. Could have tried to weaken the lofts, but ultimately just decided to stick with T150.

This is interesting. In my experience low cg and back has equated to low spin numbers (with higher launch) on irons when hitting off mats specifically. With these irons they move weight low but not back much. I’d be curious as to the strike point. Is it higher in the face on average than the t150?  Theoretically these  two irons should spin similar loft for loft if we are apples to apples (shaft/lie/loft/length).

They are slightly low spin, but I weakened them. Adds ~250rpm per degree. Realistically would have had to do 1-2 weak on Cobras as well.

Ordered my 8 9 P 2 weak and 3 flat....just to see how far the factory could bend them

Might depend on the player. T100's high spin for me. T150's were medium spin for me. I can bring back the 5 iron on our greens. 

 

The Limit3D were slightly lower (500RPM), but mine came with KGI 120 $ taper which is a low flight low spin shaft and I was coming from a Modus 105 which is mid spin, mid flight. I've just shifted to a different shaft and my spin numbers were higher again and back in line with the T150.

I play the Modus 105S as well so this is encouraging. Can't seem to shake the desire to get a set of these. I am not a Titleist fanatic, but their stuff works for me and know we are only a few months away from new T-Series or whatever they may name this year's iron release.

I think you need to test them off a mat, or test it side by side with your T150 with the same shaft. Your angle of attack is always going to be lower off a mat because of the hardness, or potentially old balls used on the SIM. 

 

I'd also think about whether 500rpm of spin is detrimental compared to the improvement on misses. I.e. a toe or heel mishit is going to be much shorter on a T150 so what is your miss and what will have the biggest impact rather than looking purely at a number like spin.

 

I played at a course yesterday (National Gunnamatta) where they are gearing up for the PGA event in a weeks time so greens were super fast. No issues stopping them on the greens, hitting the greens was a different question because I wasn't having the best day, but stopping, no issue.

You using the 4i in the Limit3d as well or still using T200 utility? No problem elevating? I have the same setup as in your signature but just have normal T200 4i set up same as my T150s which is why I ask...

I have hit the LIMIT3D and the 3DP, both are excelent and even though it wasn't same day I did not really see that much difference.

 

I the realm of not that much difference, I just don't see they are worth 2,200 where I can get MIzuno 925 Forged for 1,200 and 923 for 700.

 

Are they good, yes.  Are they worth 800-1000 more than say 925 forged?  Not to me, and shoot the 925's may not be forth the 500 more for them over the 923.

No issues whatsoever with the 4 iron. I've hit it as well, if not better than my T200 utility and I prefer the top line. I've ordered a 3 iron to replace my 2 iron. I may still keep the 2 iron as a backup for days where I need to get a little more run.

I took my LImit3D for a proper hit on my own SIM after my new shafts were fitted. It was hard to gauge based on the mats because you're switching between clubs and not getting use to it. My swing wasn't great on the day. The short answer is the default shaft definitely has a big influence. If you have concerns and want to maintain high spin, consider going with a graphite shaft. Typically you can go slightly lighter which will recover the spin rates without losing distance and if you use a shaft like the Axiom, you won't lose accuracy.

Update:

So after going back to the store 4 different times to hit these, I took the leap and ordered a set...

 

Between the looks, feel and forgiveness just too tempting to pass up. I was able to save myself a few bucks by going with the DG105 (no upcharge) Stiff instead of the Modus 105 ($140) I typically play. Actually preferred the stiffer tip with the DG and helped a little bit with the overdraw I can sometimes generate. I also did go 1 degree weak to bump up spin a tad but may add that degree back in the 8-PW. Interested to see how the 4i performs but figured I could always eBay it and pick up something else if it doesn't work for me. 

Hope build times are reasonable and excited to get these out on the course!
