Those are my two shafts of choice. Would love to know how they feel with the 3DP.

Would definitely recommend finding a place that has a fitting head and trying them out first if you can. I hit both shafts and the overall weight was very light - I ended up with the KBS $ Taper 120, slightly due to that was what was off the rack and may rebuild them.

You can now find out who has 3DP heads on Cobras website; https://www.cobragolf.com/pages/find-a-fitter

Has there been any news if the selections were made?

My guess is selections are done. They have ordered and they are waiting for clubs to land. I think that is the typical process. Then we find out once clubs are in hand.

Yep - given that it typically takes a couple weeks to get specs in and ordered, I'd imagine we will hear something in the coming weeks.  @GolfWRX_Official would know more.

Starting rebuilding my 3DP set, here's the head weights and a bunch of other measurements for those interested.

Factory construction was excellent, head dimensions/etc are all really, really good.

Has anyone had any flier issues with these? I have the LIMIT3D version and am finding the 8-9-P specifically to be pretty hot and more with distance variation than I would like. It's also distinctly possible that I suck, so take this with a grain of salt, but this weekend I found my 9 iron going between 150-165 which I don't love.

Probably due to it being a very low spin iron head.

I have not gotten mine out on course yet but in my simulator at home I'm noticing close to 1000 rpm difference hitting the 3dp Tour PW vs Mizuno Pro 243 PW. The MP 243 spins between 8100 - 8500 and the 3DP Tour I've hit some PW's as low as 6800. Avg spin closer to 7200

This is what I’ve read elsewhere - which has me thrilled to (eventually) try. The KTs are killers and something I’ve been considering upgrading to recently. But reading more on the 3DPs has me wondering more 🤔

King Tour's are great. I think it really depends what someone is looking for. The 3DP are insanely forgiving for the head shape. Dispersion and ball speed do not drop off much at all

Feel and looks wise the KT's are much better in my opinion.

The 3DP's are notably more low spin but they do launch higher.

Buying new 3DP's for $2,500 or slightly used KT's for $600, I would go with the KT's

This was my experience as well.

hopefully these 3dp tours remove some of the stigma around the performance stronger lofted, hollow, game improvement irons as more players could benefit from them.

While these tours have the aesthetics package of a players distance iron, the perform (high ball speed, high launch, and low spin) more like a larger game improvement iron. They use height and descent angle to stop vs the high spin of players irons.  Unless your playing on baked out tour courses you won’t see a difference

basically performs like a shovel but looks like a cb!

They certainly launch high and are very forgiving like a game improvement iron. I have played some other distance irons in the past and struggled, particularly with distance control and consistency. I don’t have the same problem with the 3DP, I don’t feel like I get any surprises.

I have yet to get them on a monitor so I don’t know what the spin numbers are. No doubt the distance gain in the long iron is the combo of stronger loft higher launch and lower spin. Stopping power hasn’t been an issue.

I can’t say there has been any problem stopping the ball on shots flighted down either. I don’t feel like I’ve lost anything there from the King Tour

On stopping power, how would you compare these to a players iron (such as a King Tour)?  I'm assuming getting enough spin could be an issue here, but wanted to get your take.

Years ago I played more distance oriented irons and found things like 4k spin for a 7 iron completely unplayable. I ended up in a couple different generations of X-Forged even though they were shorter/less forgiving the results were better.

I really like the King Tour, still have my set but can’t see myself going back to them.

On the short end of the bag, say a pitching wedge I have a hard time with my eyes telling the difference on course. Distance is the same. Flight looks pretty similar. Just the 3DP does better if it is a little toe side.

5 iron I would say is easier to stop in the 3DP. For me the height and better descent angle more than make up for lost spin. I’m curious though what the actual numbers are. Need to get on a monitor.

I think the modern lower spin irons have changed a lot with the use of technology. I tried the T350, during my fitting for the T150's two years back just to see what they were like and they go so high, they have an inflight meal with an air hostess. My approach angle was much higher as well. Typically if you can get an approach angle on or higher than 45 degrees, you will have no issues stopping the iron on most greens.

On numbers, I'm getting around 5500 on my 7 iron. That's with a club head speed of 84mph

Bingo - also the $1000 price difference 😉

I got mine on a Boxing Day sale for the same price as the 3DP so I got lucky. From what I heard in the Cobra interview, they found ways to make the 3d printing cheaper.

Agreed on producing cheaper models going forward once they are able to scale the process.

I’d be surprised if I am not close to that, 5500-6k range. I’m curious now and would like to get both them and the KT on a monitor.

I’ve only hit 3DP on course so I have no numbers. I like what I see though. I hit a friend’s Limit3d a bunch last summer and knew they would work.

I really need to go find somewhere that has fitting heads of these. Local golf store has the limit3d on the rack to hit at the range but I need to try with +1” longer. Even at the stock specs these geeked forged. Pretty close feel to my blueprint s irons.

I really like my pings but they are still cb blades and I would love something that looks similar but with more forgiveness. I could play these with slightly weaker lofts too to have more bounce and less offset. Throw some modus 120 or even the stock $ taper and I am good to go

I'm curious how "hot" the faces are. When I got back into the game, I fit into the 2018 Cobra Forged Tec Black (mostly due to a buddy who had a pro discount). I loved the distance and the feel, but they tended to overcook my left miss. After playing for a few years and lowering my handicap to a 5, I decided to take the opposite approach and purchased a set of National Custom Works Don White blades. Since then, my handicap has improved to a 3.1 due to strong ball striking and a much flatter ball flight that tends to be less punishing on the overcooked pull. I'm wondering if these will act more like a forged Tec on massive pulls, or is it more similar to a T100/T150?

My order has escaped the fedex black hole of Troutdale, OR and should have them in a few days. Same exact shaft and grip as my P770s and P7CBs so will try to get them on a monitor next week with some numbers.

I basically blind ordered these while watching the Masters so could be a short and quick ownership 😂

I'm currently testing T150s vs 3DPs, height and spin have never been an issue for me but the 3DPs are lower.

My averages:

~92mph SS

Ball Speed                        Spin                      Peak Height             Launch              Descent

Titleist T150s - 32*              124mph                       7000rpm                      105 ft                     19*                     51*

(Project X 6.0 LZ)

Cobra 3DPs - 31*                 124mph                       5500rpm                      103 ft                     17*                     49*

(KBS $ Taper 120)

Cobra 3DPs - 32*                 126mph                       6250rpm                      106 ft                     18*                     51*

(KBS $ Taper 120)

Cobra 3DPs - 32*                 125mph                       6500rpm                       112 ft                     19*                     50*

(Project X 6.0 LZ)

I will note, the type of ball really makes a difference. I'm starting to test balls now since the 3DPs have/can be quite low spinning:

TP5                               All # numbers provided above were with TP5

TP5x                                         same as above / - height

Prov1                                         +250rpm / same height

Prov1x                                       +250rpm / same height

Srixon Z star Diamond             +250rpm / same height

Srixon XV                                  +250rpm / + height

Bridgestone E6                         -250rpm / - height

Bridgestone Tour BX                +250rpm / + height

Kirkland Sig                               -250rpm / - height

TM Tour Response                    -250rpm / - height

These are just some initial #s with about 10-20 hits each. Might be worth looking into

I'm currently testing T150s vs 3DPs, height and spin have never been an issue for me but the 3DPs are lower.

My averages:

~92mph SS

Ball Speed                        Spin                      Peak Height             Launch              Descent

Titleist T150s - 32*              124mph                       7000rpm                      105 ft                     19*                     51*

(Project X 6.0 LZ)

Cobra 3DPs - 31*                 124mph                       5500rpm                      103 ft                     17*                     49*

(KBS $ Taper 120)

Cobra 3DPs - 32*                 126mph                       6250rpm                      106 ft                     18*                     51*

(KBS $ Taper 120)

Cobra 3DPs - 32*                 125mph                       6500rpm                       112 ft                     19*                     50*

(Project X 6.0 LZ)

I will note, the type of ball really makes a difference. I'm starting to test balls now since the 3DPs have/can be quite low spinning:

TP5                               All # numbers provided above were with TP5

TP5x                                         same as above / - height

Prov1                                         +250rpm / same height

Prov1x                                       +250rpm / same height

Srixon Z star Diamond             +250rpm / same height

Srixon XV                                  +250rpm / + height

Bridgestone E6                         -250rpm / - height

Bridgestone Tour BX                +250rpm / + height

Kirkland Sig                               -250rpm / - height

TM Tour Response                    -250rpm / - height

These are just some initial #s with about 10-20 hits each. Might be worth looking into

Shaft makes a big difference as well. $ taper is a low spin mid flight shaft so I’m not sure why Cobra paired it with the limit3d as the default shaft.

GT2 10.5° with TPT 18Hi
GT2 15° with TPT 18Hi

T200 Utility 2 Project X HZRDUS Black 4G

Cobra Limit3D Axiom 75 Shafts

Vokey SM9 48 F Grind, 54 S Grind, 60 M Grind

LAB DF3 Armlock TPT Shaft
Tour Midsize Bag

Pro V1
