Currently gaming MP20s but looking to switch to a CB players iron… BUT… I want traditional lofts.

Give me 46 degree PW, 34 degree 7i etc etc

What options do I actually have?

Look into 620 CB irons.  I have a set as well as 620 MB.  Even though 620 CB was expressly designed to blend with the 620 MB line, with a few specs slightly different, on their own they are outstanding irons.  Also, lofts (47' PW and 35' 7i.) lies and progressive bounce and offset are the same as MB, only noticeable difference is the heel to toe length, CB is a smidgen longer.

Even though the 620 CB line has a small cavity back, they are not as forgiving as my 2023 T100.

Bridgestone 221CB has a 46°PW, but a 32°7 iron. You can get new sets for dirt cheap from Japan on EBay.

The new Mizzy MP S-3 is calling your name…

This seems to me like the OP is too lazy to do some googling, so they are outsourcing it to us... this info is pretty easy to find on manufacturers' websites.  It's also on some retailers' web sites (in the product description or specs section) like Carl's Golfland or TGW.

Or 50 degree.  46 degrees it ain't.

Yeah... really depends on the era you're thinking of when you define traditional.

I love the look the S-3! Initial reviews are suggesting there is very little between these and the forgiveness of a blade, so might as well stick with the blade

This, to me, is frustrating because it feels like lazy analysis and this kind of narrative kills the hype on single-piece forged CBs, which have been more or less the same for the last 25 years. We should know better by now that these are not barely discernible from blades. If they were, they wouldn’t still exist.

It is the same narrative as the 923 Tour, and now you’ve got threads on this site with people talking about how much more playable they are than was originally thought.

For what it’s worth, I think it’s one of the most forgiving irons in that class, when you compare it properly with P7MCs, 620 cbs, etc. I hit the 923 Tours side-by-side with the 221 in a fitting and found the cb much friendlier in size/shape and noticeably more generous (feeling) on mishits.

’They’ say a lot of things, but you won’t really know if it’s true unless you demo it. And if that’s not what you’re looking for, then maybe what you want is something like a ZX7/T100/243, instead, bent weak…

Edited to add the Cobra Tour CB/MBs. They get slept on (by me, obviously), but they are a really good iron, and the new black finish looks awesome.

And for the record, I’m with @AntiGooch and @Nessism that ‘traditional’ lofts are at least 48* if not more, lol. Now those are hard to find in the modern market.

My first set of clubs back in the early 80's, Hogan apex irons, the 1973 model, had an "equalizer" or pw that I think was 50 or 52* loft. And each club after was 4* stronger in loft. But that was more than 50 years ago so things change.

Take this for what it's worth, but "traditional" iron lofts, in my mind, means you don't need a GAP wedge.

But you'll need a hybrid, higher lofter fwy wood, Utility wood, or utility/driving iron to fill the gap on the other end unless you are one of those psychos 🤪 who can hit a lower lofted "traditional" iron!

Lol we still talking bout jacked lofts 🤔...🤣

Options may mean changing your way of thinking.

Still have a set of Hogan Radials.  PW is 50*.

Currently game 5-UW in my i525 - PW is 45* and UW is 50*.  Personally consider my 5-U i525 the same as my Radial 4-PW.

"Traditional" PW is like 50/52 degrees, WAY back in the day, before loft jacking started and the GW was invented to fill the gap between a 56 degree SW. Only thing on the market I'm aware of that is close is Tiger spec P7TWs, and those are blades.

There's plenty of players CBs with 46 degree PW, definitely not slim pickings by any means.

I’ve been looking at replacements for my JPX900T also based on that criteria, these are the models that I’ve looked at

620CB, T100

JPX923 Tour, MP S-3

Wilson Staff CB

Cobra King CB

Callaway Apex CB

P7MC/P7CB

A lot more options can be added if you’re open to bending them weaker and/or want to remove some offset.

I’m partial to the new Mizuno S-3 although I’m probably gonna wait until those hit the used market.

For me, traditional means a 47* PW because that was the number that was standard when I started paying attention to the lofts of my clubs.  But, I'm well aware of the fact that the PW used to have a good bit more loft... I had a lot of friends that played the Eye 2 and the PW on those was 51*, so my PW was a full club stronger than theirs.

Exactly. Why did we need that gap again? (don't answer that).  I tend to buy sets with 46* pitching wedges and bend them weak to 48*.
