Project X Red Steel Shafts Review- Reports

@Howard_Jones Any insight / opinion on these Red Label Shafts?

Something I noticed, they are lighter than the OG Blue Label shafts, I think the 5.5 = 100g, 6.0= 110g and the 6.5 = 120? on the red labels, sop they are only offering 3 flex's/ weights, just wandering if it may be new steels material, extruding process's? it seems there might be a market with these strong lofted irons of today?

Thanks

Nope, its a new kid on the block for me to

PS! just like R.S.X flex labels, PX labels is the same, so DONT expext "The RED" as 6.0 to be like the OG 6.0 only 10 grams lighter.

I ordered these just as they were released through the True Temper certification program. One of the many perks of being a PGA professional. I was actually planning on ordering a set of LZ’s and refreshed the page and saw these. Read the description and that’s all I needed.

I’ve always been a pretty low ball hitter, but I tend to prefer that. I moved down south where I quickly learned I need to hit a high ball with more spin.

I’ve been playing KBS $ Taper 130 X for the past 3 or 4 years. Love them. But I’m getting a little older, little slower. I’ve also tinkered with a set of KBS TGI 110 X. I loved the lighter weight on those but lacked a little bit of feel with the graphite. The little bit of added speed was also a big plus.

Having played the original Project X’s in the past I knew how they felt but still just a little too heavy/low launch for what I’m trying to achieve. The Reds were a no brainer the second I saw them.

I have them installed in a set of CB’s. They do exactly what they’re designed to do. A touch higher launch. A touch more spin. A touch more swing speed with the lighter weight. These are going to stay in the bag for a while.

@mouellette31 Thanks for the report, or heads up. I play the OG Blue Label 6.0's and have no complaints, how do the Red feel compared to the OG and would you say they play soft like what has been suspected? I've got a very good friend who is patiently waiting and might want to have a set of these installed.

Thanks

I wouldn’t say softer. Still just as stable as the Blues. Just.. lighter? I feel like I’m getting more launch and spin mainly due to a couple MPH increase in speed.

Not to hop on an internet sight and post like a troll but you've been on this site for 13 years and these are your first two posts? Just seems like a review can't be found anywhere and now this is on here saying "same just lighter"? This is GolfWrx, a review is needed, with pictures and data. I don't buy the "Same, just lighter" review.

I ordered them soon as they were available - tried them in my old ZX7 mkii's and love them. Little more launch and spin, but just felt way easier to swing and less effort to produce ball speed.

Have another set in my ZXi's now. If you like the OG Blue but find them a bit boardy, these are perfect. Best iron shaft ive tested.

Would specifically be interested in the 6.0 Or 6.5 blue label vs 6.5 red

I ordered 6.5 in the red - so the weight was the same as the blue 6.0 I was playing, its feels very similar, just a softer tip section and overall just a little easier to swing and constantly produce good contact, I feel ball speed is up with these compared to the blue's

I hit these in my recent iron fitting. They were really nice, plenty stable but higher spin and ball flight than OG PX. I ended up going a different route but I would recommend if you want more launch and spin with a more stable feel.

Awesome!, Thanks I'm building a set right now and look forward to playing them as I've always liked Project X Irons Shafts, really was just wandering if the launch & spin was noticeable ? But Thank you for the feedback.

Only slightly...do it you won't regret it!

For those that have hit, how do you think blending the Red in 4-6 irons and Blue in 7-PW? Kind of make a flighted set. Love px blue but can be a bit much in 4 and 5 irons at times.

I think that would work fine as long as the weight drop is not too much. I sometimes play Rifle 6.0 in short irons and then go 5.5 soft-stepped once in long irons. Works great. In this case you are getting a little weight drop and a bit more active tip with the Red, but not so much difference that it feels like a different shaft. Just check your weight progression.
