GT3 driver swing weight

So I have been playing a TSR3 and I play a shorter driver at 44.5”. I have to add weight to get swing weight to D3. In the TSR this was via a back weight. Got fit and wound up in a GT3, but I’m worried if I throw more weight in to bring SW up it will drop spin or launch too much. Anyone have experience playing a short driver and adding weight in the GT3?

I was fit into a gt3 10.0 at 45 with +6 grams of weight. It’s been great in the sim, haven’t had a chance to hit outdoors much.

 

can you back up to the fitter and try with the extra weight?  Most of the accounts have the headweight kit.

I wish I could but not without paying again. They had me in a short driver but I doubt the SW was where I normally like it. I play 9* at c1 in the TSR3. Did you loft up in the GT3 coming from your previous driver before adding the weight?

Yes, I have have played 8-9!degree heads in the past however I did some work this off season to lower my aoa to 2 vs the 4-5 it had been.  
 

So. The loft change is part swing work, part head, and part weight.

I play a GT3 10 degree at 44.75 in Tour AD VF. I have noticed that the swing weights, when they are standard, are on the heavier side (D4.5- D5). Bear in mind that I am basing this off the Tour AD VF.  I was initially fitted for the -2g gray weight (D3.5-D4), but I was having issues turning it over. I went to the green weight, which is -4g, and that was the sweet spot for me around D2.5- D3. I hope this helps!

You don't need to go back to the fitter.  Just get some lead tape and play around with it yourself.

Fitting for swing weight (or really head weight) is not about launch or spin.  It's all about consistency of face impact and delivery in general. Things such as accuracy, dispersion, and shot shape control.   Particularly good consistent center face impact.  Once you get that, stick to managing launch and spin with loft and the head selection.

 

Also, don't make assumptions on what a good swing weight fit might be if that target was determined with a club that has/had a different playing length or shaft weight or even grip weight.    Swing weight is not an objective measurement of feel.  Getting a club to D3 (or any particular value) doesn't always mean the feel will be the same.

 

And it's also VERY subjective as to what will happen as the head weight changes.  So the experience from others is not really going to be very helpful as to what will happen for you as it changes.    Only your own testing will answer that question.

Otherwise my earlier point was that D3 at 44.5" is not necessarily the same as D3 at 45.5".   Just because D3 is the best fit at 45.5" doesn't mean it will still be the best fit at 44.5".  Better to just get some lead tape and work your way up incrementally on the range and get the best head weight by feel, face impact consistency (use foot powder spray) and ball flight result.     Then, (if you want) you can buy a new weight to replace the lead tape based on the amount added.

Yes, I have been playing TSR3 at the same length and shaft (VA Synystr 6x) and at D3.  I dont see myself wanting to experiment with that much, as it took time to get to that setup with the TSR.  So if you are saying the impact to spin, launch etc based on potentially having to add some weight to the GT3 in its new weight location will have minimal effect then it sounds like I should grab one and get to work in setting it up.

In conjunction to the GT3 track weight, are you playing in the N setting, or moving weight around. What I’m getting at is for “h” promote a draw for you or “t” fade which affects spin too?  Or have not tested that

 My TSR3 at 45.5in came in at D3 (stock).  My  GT3   with the same shaft was also D3 with stock being D1.  I switched to the GT2 and found it to  the same at D3.  Slightly confused.
