You sure it wasn't that 'fridge full of nooners and ultras that made your body feel that way?

Haha. I took it relatively easy. A few drinks during after the fittings to loosen my back up and a few during the round yesterday. I mean, it didn’t help but I think it’s a lot of outdoor activities in a time of year where I’m typically in hibernation that did me in lol.

The event hangover is real for something like this. You spend so much time in anticipation, then the amazement of it all and then poof! Back to reality.

@ColdOkieGolf is too kind (and has a beautiful golf swing for that matter). I was going to save this for my recap but I’ll leave a teaser here.

@ColdOkieGolf decided to play it one-up from the other group (~7,500 yards)  at around 7,000-6,900 yards. I made 6 birdies on the day and ended up finishing under par. Slightly disappointing as I had a great chance to break 70 which is rare for me now days.

6 birdies on a course you've never seen with brand new clubs is a pretty good ad for Wilson... they should put you on staff!

The film crew asked me narrate my thought process while they followed every shot of mine on one hole. As luck would have it, that was one of six birdies and I’m confident they are going to use that footage. Keep an eye out for that.

Hopefully they got a nice shot of the Wilson logo as the ball tumbled into the hole!

So freaking cool. What an experience. I've always loved Wilson irons so it's awesome to hear and see their woods and wedges are up there with the best of them. Awesome stuff Wilson!

I've been out of commission all week, so I couldn't follow this live.   But just read the entire thread.

As usual, another great experience by both @Wilson_Golf --anytime  @Wilson_Golf_Harry is involved you know it's going to be fun.  Big thanks to @GolfWRX_Official and @knudson81 for pulling it all together.   Can't wait to see some of the bag pics when you guys get settled back at home.

wow, vessel made carry bags!  nice touch.  Those blades look sick!  Only slight negative I have to say is there's a lot going on with the crown of those woods.  Very busy.  Wouldn't mind a cleaner crown with their next release.  Maybe that initial matte black but for the entire crown (if they could with both materials).  Personally, I'd stand out from the competition with a matte grey or red.

I completely understand the preference. I’ve played countless divers with seems dating back to the FT-3, FT-5, then into the more modern ones with two colors or finishes. So I’m not bothered by it.

At this point, it doesn’t seem any different than what Callaway, Cobra, Taylormade (pre Qi10) have been doing. Wasn’t hard to ignore that seam.

The one thing I would have changed if I were magically granted say in the design, would be to remove the red paint from the rear heel region. I don’t know that it serves a purpose other than a splash of color. With the direction they’re going, I’d be really keen on seeing it in all black. Clean and simple. Old school Wilson script in the bottom and just black everywhere else.  I don’t notice the red from address really, so it’s not something that would cause me to ignore the other intangibles.

I also played with Harry when I went to Pinehurst and he made us play the tips.  He shot -1 from way back!  It was very fun to watch!

Im not quite sure what he ended up with,  it was like even par or one over. And yes he left had some missed putts that would easily put him in the 60s… so extremely impressive!

I am finally home and getting settled in. The 4 AM wake up to catch the plane, then the 2 hour drive to get back home has left me with limited mental faculties at the moment.  I'd like to create an overall recap with some eloquent and succinctly stated gems,  but you'll have to bare with my ramblings.  I'll try to sum up some highlights and low lights. Unfortunately not any photos as the other guys and the production crew have that covered.  BUT I plan to take some comparison photos of clubs tomorrow.

The amount of time and effort that goes into these events is massive.  I can't say enough how much I appreciate GolfWRX and Wilson for all that they do.  And especially a shout out to Lindsey and the tour truck guys. They busted their behinds to get the clubs into our bags the next day. I might be biased since Lindsey is a fellow Sooner - but she is an absolute gem of a person and Wilson is so lucky to have her,  truly.  The thoughtful details, having everything planned out, arranging all the transportation, flights, hotels, just all of it.  She also celebrated her birthday on Tuesday - just unfortunate she had to hang out with such a motley crew.

Yes, the golf equipment is great - it really is. I wish I could find some negatives to say about what I tried - but it really is fantastic. If I had to be nitpicky,  maybe the Dynapower forged irons are a little chunkier than I'd like, but they flat out perform.  I digress.  So yeah, the equipment is great,  but I came away more impressed by the people. Each and every person I interacted with was just a solid person with a passion to make Wilson golf a better version of itself.  The only person I didn't like was Harry.  That guy is good at everything and it's annoying 😄  (obviously joking about not liking him).

Day 1 was an interesting one.  Once we made it to the property we dropped our stuff off at the villa, which was filled with really thoughtful touches of Wilson items, got cleaned up in record time, and hit up dinner.  I was slightly bummed at dinner, only because there were 2 other big groups there. So it was really loud and a bit overwhelming at times.  It was harder to connect with the Wilson crew as you had to shout at each other  - but they were great at engaging with us and making us comfortable.

Day 2.   I have a big critique for this day.   BUT before anyone freaks out,  it's strictly a critique of myself.  My hope is that the folks reading this might learn from me and do it differently than I did.

I'm the type of person that hates feeling like I'm a bother or a burden.  To be clear, Wilson never made me feel that way - just the nicest folks ever, and Ed is awesome.   But yeah,  I hate being the center of attention.  I should also add that I was fighting a bit of a sinus infection + FL allergies, so my nose was running non stop and my eyes were watering.

I was disappointed that I didn't ask to try more equipment and explore more options. If nothing else, just to be able to report on it to you all.  Again, Wilson and Ed were so happy to accommodate anything - and I just didn't fully take advantage of that.  Not that I was going to play the MBs, but I never hit them. The AI fit had me in the DG Mid 115 X100 with the CBs.  It also had several other options like the standard X100 or the Project X 6.5.  Ed set me up with the DG Mid 115 in the CB and noted that I was a bit too high and spinny.  We swapped in a 2* stronger head and the numbers were great. I was just disappointed in myself that I didn't ask to try other shafts.  Would a different shaft with the standard loft get my launch and spin where it needed to be?  I can't answer that, and I let myself down there.  It could be that the current 2* strong with the Mid 115 is really the best fit for me (they performed great)  but I definitely feel like I left a lot of fine tuning on the table.  It was similar with the wood fitting.  Harry spent a lot of time helping me get a head weight and shaft feel for the driver, without getting too spinny.   Once that was done I didn't really spend much time hitting the fairway woods or any of the other drivers.  In my head I was like "oh well I don't want to take up any more of their time out here".   I was also really interested in the 7 wood,  which is great!   BUT again, going to 2* stronger lofts and having the dynapower forged 4 iron, I think the 4 iron and the 7 wood might run into each other yardage wise.   At that point it might have been better being in a 5 wood.  Or again, if the standard lofts with a different shaft worked,  the 7 wood might fit gaps better.  All things that I know, but didn't vocalize during the fitting because I'm a dummy.  They can't read my mind, and I failed my part of the fitting process by not talking trough these things.

My hope in writing that,  is if the community is lucky enough to have more of these trips, that people will learn from my mistakes and better explore the options while you have the chance and the ear of the pros.

The end of Day 2 was probably my favorite part of the trip.  We all met up at "the porch" for dinner and they gave us our new custom stamped wedges.  Bob Thurman,  the global VP and GM of golf showed up - and what a awesome guy he is!  I really loved hearing him talk about equipment and discuss the insights that went into creating this new Dynapwr line of drivers.  He and the team are so committed to bringing Wilson back into the conversation. And if you think the new drivers look a little TM like, a little Callaway like -  it's because they went out and hired some of those same engineers!  The drivers flat out perform.  Listening to Bob talk about running simulations to tune the sound, improving how the face flexes -  all this thought and detail that goes into designing new clubs.  It really opened my eyes to not just Wilson, but really the golf industry as a whole.  It was so enjoyable to just sit around and talk about all things golf equipment.

Later that evening we played the Wedge course.  It was fun hanging with the Wilson crew and using our new wedges.  I have to say, that place is flat out dangerous though.  All the lights are low to the ground which creates these really dark spots and highlights contours.  It looks cool for photos, but really if you aren't careful it is easy to lose your footing around that course.  I was pretty surprised at just how dangerous it was.  On top of that, if your ball ended up in low area,  you couldn't even see your club or the ground to hit.  Just a wild experience there,  but overall a really cool place to experience.

Of course Day 3 was the big day.  It felt like Christmas coming out to the range and seeing our bags there.  I've  never had new irons or wedges for that matter.  They were so pretty sitting in the bag that I almost didn't want to go out and hit them!

Funny enough, because I was such a bonehead for the fitting -  we never really went into 3 wood setups. And because that never got spec'd out, they didn't put one in my bag.  I felt bad asking about a 3 wood,  but Ed rushed one to me before our tee time.  I swear they are legit the nicest folks.

The course was a fun one to play.  You could hit a similar shot 5 times and end up in 5 different spots.  The greens are like nothing I have ever played on.  Literally 10X the size of the greens I play on with crazy slopes.

The 58* 10 came in clutch during my round.   You would think that wouldn't be a good match for the really tight bermuda around the greens,  but I am telling you, that wedge performed fantastic for me. It is amazingly versatile.  Being new greens, they aren't the most receptive,  but phew,  a few chip shots I hit had so much zip on them.  It looked like I knew what I was doing!

I'll try to wrap this up as it's getting way too long.   We headed down to Tampa after the round and stayed at a hotel by the airport.  @knudson81 joined us for dinner, and that was a really enjoyable experience.  Brian is such a great dude to sit around and talk with. He has such great insights and so many great stories.  It was really nice to just chill with all the guys from the trip and talk about the experience.

One thing nobody has really mentioned:   Wilson soft goods.    We had some polos,  a super awesome vest, comfy hoodie and even the pro staff shoes.  I was really impressed with all of it.   I am obsessed with the vest and the hoodie.   The best has a little bit of weight up top with some venting and lighter weight material lower.   It's perfect for a slightly chilly morning while not being too bulky to swing.  The hoodie is like the Rhoback style.  Buttery soft, a little stretchy,  I love it!   Even the Wilson backpack they gave us was great. It is just so well designed with a ton of pockets and spots for things while not being too bulky.  The shoes I feel don't look that great in photos online,  but seeing a lot of the Wilson folks wearing them,  they look so nice in person.  Good quality,  pretty comfortable (need to be broken in a touch),  just great all around.

Really well said! I have similar like feedback I will also add here soon. Just had probably the best nap Ive had in years…

I'm not sure I would have tried them, but I did the PING ballnamic ball fitting last year and those results showed that, for my game, the Staff Model (non-X version) would perform very similarly to the left dash with the main differences that the Wilson would fly a couple of feet higher off the driver (so not quite as good into the wind), but with more full wedge spin and greenside spin.  On course, judging by eye, I'd say the Wilson performs pretty much as PING said it should.  I've also found them to be pretty resilient.  I used one for 52.5 holes... in the last round with it I was +2 through 16 before my pulled tee shot hit a cart path and ended up OB, so I had to take it out of play.

Haha, well played.  So, when you're buying Wilson clubs in the future, you're sort of indirectly paying yourself.
