I got myself in trouble off the tee. A lot of trouble lol. I really wish I’d have showed better. But it happens. All that distance means nothing if the face isn’t square at impact lol.

Now that’s a fact.  Last year at the driver testing IIRC AJ had nothing that carried less than 300 but topped out at 317 carry.  
@radiman would walk past that with a sniffle and say “ I think that’s yours AJ” and continue walking on to his ball.

 

 @radiman thank you for taking my post in the manner it was intended.  Now you guys know what we were saying last year!

Same, I started out in the V6s, long irons were just too much for me to hit consistently. Switched to the 2021 CBs, shafts were wrong for me... switched to Apex 19s for a little bit, loved the long irons, did not love feel that I had gotten used to with Wilson Staff and the low control with the scoring clubs. Finally worked into a combo set that's in my sig.

Oh I’d say it’s more of an active brag. I hit some good shots with the driver I was fit for 4 days ago. At an event that is literally the topic of this thread. I’m probably gonna be pretty pumped about it.
 

If it was a passive brag I’d be like “dang, I can’t believe I only carried my drive 324y, maybe I can do better when my sniffles clear up.”

Clubs look like they will indeed arrive tomorrow. Have an hour on trackman for Tuesday. Plan on doing head to heads with the woods. Any requests, or things you would like to see let me know.

Thanks for that. What played into your getting the Carbon rather than the LS? I have the current Carbon and it’s been the best driver for me in years.

Well, it made sense for me to go into the LS. Miss tends to be toe, don’t like the ball to go left. But man it’s one of the most fade biased heads I have hit in a while, since probably the OG SIM. Talking with Harry about it, he said it wasn’t necessarily cog, but just a more aggressive bulge and roll that makes the LS that way. Seemed like work at times, and led to some poor strikes as well. Interesting enough this years Carbon isnt no slouch when it comes to spin. I found it to be equally as low spin as the LS. Just less fade biased. Combine that with interchangeable weights, should be able to dial it in well.

Thanks for the explanation. I was fitted the other day and about to get the new. Was thinking LS but I hate seeing the ball go left to right. Grew up with persimmon and am used to a hint of a draw. So I hate having to line up left. Maybe 8° Carbon turned up to 9°would be perfect.🤔

I was surprised to not see any Wilson Staff putters. Was there any mention of the putters by the Wilson team? I have always been curious about them but never see them anywhere to test out.

They had the higher end line there to check out. They are solid, milled putters.  I think it comes down more to shaping and if it fits your eye/stroke.  

 

They mentioned they are looking to change and/or expand the line with some new offerings that might prove interesting.

They have a good amount of spin, a very classic shape/size, and being forged, on a bigger swings they feel great.  

 

I struggled a bit elevating my wedges around the greens out there.  But it is a much different turf than what I am used to.  I picked my bounce/grinds based on my conditions back home. and I think it was just too much bounce for the firm and very tight conditions at Cabot.  I hit a few full-ish shots with them though and was very happy with the performance and feel.  I do love the feel of a forged wedge.  I hit a really solid 52 on the 18th hole and thought it was a very nice transition from the MB into the wedges.  

 

I went with a 52, 56, 60 setup and the 52/56 are mostly full swing clubs for me unless I need to bring a pitch shot in lower than I can with my 60.  

 

I can't remember what hole it was, maybe 13?  Anyways, I was way out of position off the tee, pulled the wrong club to take with me so the caddie didn't have to hoof it from my shot to @Red4282's very well placed drive that was in the middle of the fairway and a mile away from me lol. I had some big trees in front and a 3w in hand.  Hit something just to advance the ball and ended up in a bunker with the green waaaaaaay uphill.  I get to the bunker to assess my nightmare situation and next thing you know, I had a camera in front of me asking what my strategy was.  A hope and a prayer essentially is what I said.  Opened the face of my 60* up and took a solid swing and got it out of the bunker, over the next bunker, and onto the green.  

I really hope I see the video of that one as it was one of my best shots of the round.
