I had a similar conclusion. They irons are quite long for their loft. Love them. The ZM wedges are equally impressive. I just haven't sprung for the irons yet.

We had a little bit of winter weather this weekend but I was able to make it to the foresight simulator yesterday. It wasn’t really a testing or data collecting session, My girlfriend and I played a round.
 

after being so impressed with the Diamana RB in my Dynapwr Carbon fw’s, I snagged one for my driver. I haven’t had a lot of consistent success with the Lin-Q and opted to go back into the 70g range at a slightly shorter length to see if I could find some more consistency. i ended up getting a Diamana RB 73TX, tipped it 1”, and have it playing around 44.75”. The heavier static shaft weight paired with the heavier head weight they got me in has it feeling really well balanced at the shorter length. The active tip in the RB is reminiscent of the LinQ red but it’s definitely more stable. Feels like I can really go after it without losing control and it has a very distinct load feeling in transition. 
 

I brought the Qi35LS with again just to try during warm up. With the RB in the Dynapwr, there’s zero question that it’s the better setup for me between the two. Ball speeds are similar but I’m getting more consistent launch and spin with the Wilson. 
 

Absolutely wild that not only is there not a sacrifice playing a Wilson driver, but it’s beaten a couple of really good setups since I’ve gotten it. I know they’re serious about being competitive in the fairway and driver space. But, they’ve jumped right up into contention in just a couple of years time. 
 

I checked out a few of the last Dynapwr release that they still have in the shop in town. I still don’t think either of them check the boxes for me in terms of aesthetics. Shape, finish, face angle. I know they weren’t bad. But the new line seems like a complete reinvention vs a progression from what the last was. I think it was needed and in talking with the guys working there, it’s definitely helped. More people are taking a second look. Walking away impressed. Still work to be done, but they’ve come a long way in a very short time.

Gotta' say guys, rather jealous about your time with Wilson.  Finally got to reading through the thread today, and was impressed at how well they treated the group, and the group's impressions of their helpfulness and professionalism.  It would likely blow my mind to have a similar experience - although I've had lessons and a fitting, and have golfed at some nice courses, getting such first-class treatment would be a memory for a lifetime.  Reading the story of how they stocked potential shafts in anticipation of their selection shows extreme attention to detail.

 

Glad for the Minnesota guys as well - if you don't mind sending us up a few heat units, I'd like to be golfing before April 30th!

 

As a long-term Wilson Staff player, also glad to see the extensive post-trip testing the group has done.  I received the very distinct impressions that the equipment keeps up with anything else modern, though like all clubs, some heads/shafts are just a better fit for some than others.  A few special kudos:

 

@radiman the dedication in fleshing out and posting your data is fantastic.  Although your game does not resemble mine, it provides some objective measures of new clubs versus existing clubs, ones which you likely have optimized.  For anyone doubting Wilson's ability to "keep up", what you posted should dispel this myth.  Though many of us could have been forgiven for worrying where they were going with woods and hybrids after the D9 series.

 

@ColdOkieGolf I appreciate your candid honesty in your regrets about the process.  As someone who also hasn't been catered to much in his life, I understand the internal voice that tells us not to impose ourselves on others, even when that is what they are there to do.  I hope after this past few weeks you are able to look back and still be satisfied with what came out of your experience.  Maybe you didn't get as optimized as you could have if you tried more clubs, but I'm sure you're pretty happy with what you did get.

 

And you know, I've often observed that those who've golfed a long time pretty much know when something is good - so I bet your instincts were spot on.  It's when we chase perfect we end up on our 8th driver in 12 months (!?!), and fail to appreciate what is working pretty good for us.

 

Otherwise, looking at the club snaps, I want MBs, I should play CBs (or even DP forged), wish I had liked my Carbon driver more, and can agree that W/S is absolutely killing it with their FWs right now.  My Dynapwr is the first time I've put a "regular" 15* back in my bag in over a decade. 

 

Last note, Wilson has been quietly making some very good Tour-level balls the last few years, and even the Triad has been good for some of us plebes.  That they had you use their new tour balls was a nice touch as well, and I hope someone mentioned to them they can bring back the original FG Tour/FG Tour X at any time.  Still have one last sleeve in my ball pile I am saving for a special day.

Appreciate the kind words.  It's hard to feel like you're doing it justice after an experience like this.  It was all so top tier that you feel you owe it to them to come through with updates, testing, reviews, etc.  Coming in and singing their praises blindly isn't something the community nor Wilson would want.  Objective feedback is what will speak the most to how far they've come.  Doing my best to get as much meaningful feedback that I can considering I can't hit off grass for a bit yet.  

 

In terms of the CB, I will say it never entered my mind that I would end up in MB.  I guess maybe I had a dream the night before that I was absolutely flushing everything and had no choice lol.  But realistically, I would have though the CB was going to be where I landed without question.  Even hitting them, I thought Ed was just trying to show off how pure they felt.  When he recommended the CB 4i, MB 5i-P I was shocked in a sense.  But, I trusted it based on the results I got with it.  I didn't feel like I was giving up anything with the MB compared to the CB.  Speed, launch, spin.  Could have gone back and forth and probably picked either through the whole set and been happy.  The MB just look so so sexy.  

 

I have a few of the Staff X balls left in the bag.  In my simulator/LM time so far, I have found myself gravitating towards those over the TP5x.  I just like the feel more.  Numbers don't seem to be a heck of a lot different.  I have to dig and see if I have any of the regular Staff balls in there for comparison.

Yeah - all of the equipment is as solid as can be. Over the years I think I've done an okay job self fitting, so nothing has been a huge difference in terms of performance, but all of the Wilson stuff is just a little bit better than what I had before. I've only been able to play two kind of chilly and windy rounds + the Cabot round,  but there hasn't been a single Wilson club that I have any desire to swap for something else at this point.

I was brought up on blades, so have no fear of MBs despite my current handicap.  Honestly, if someone has the optimal shaft for their swing, they can deliver the clubhead in a consistent manner, making the club design irrelevant.  Glad you found your happiness there, and I wish more people would try blades as they may be surprised at how small a difference they make (again, assuming a good shaft fit).

 

Currently gaming i525 myself right now, but a future set of Staff MBs may end up being the retirement clubs.  I'm not getting paid to play the game, so might as well play something I like the look of.

On a brighter note….played today with the new LS and was very pleasantly surprised.  No,I didn’t hit it as well as @radiman but for a 68 yo golfer it behaved rather well.  And not nearly as fade biased as expected.

Thank you! Again, I wish I would have given a better baseline to start our fitting with.  In my defense, I've never played golf infront of a full camera crew and it was a bit early in the trip. I'm hoping to get both the DYNAPWR LS and my GT3 on Trackman in the near future and post my results.

Something tells me that's coming.  Especially the part where I mutter to myself (and the camera) "that's f@&$ed, I can't make the putt from over there" after hitting my approach shot on the wrong side of that ridge.

I'm always impressed by anyone who can develop a great golf game with such a short season. We play year round here in Tennessee and it's still not enough to get me to scratch. 🙂

Darn it @radiman I keep looking at the Wilson website and am trying to somehow justify why I need a set of MBs when I just bought my i525 in late fall last year.

 

Maybe I need to reach out to @Wilson_Golf to arrange to be a Canadian product promoter, LOL.  Heck knows I've posted enough about Wilson in the last decade to at least get a look (plus some free marketing advice)!  And I represent an important demographic - old guy who likes blades, and wants to demonstrate how graphite shafted blades are the best for everyone!

At the time, I was able to pick up the Kirklands for $129.  Think the Staff wedges in Canada were at least $129 each when I built the bag if not more.

 

Honestly think that the Wilson Harmonized wedges are one of the best values on the market, as are the Infinite putters for someone building a budget bag.  A new Harmonized wedge will be so much spinnier than using a beat up old Vokey.

 

Am actually on the hunt for some graphite pulls to put into my D7 Forged as my backup set.  They beat out P770, P790, G430, and JPX 923 in the hitting bay.

I was quite close to going with the Staff Blades when I was looking at new irons, as the set I'd bought the year before wasn't quite getting it done (due to idiot owner shaft choice).  I rather like the sole, the leading edge to trailing edge rounding.  And the lofts are very familiar, being a "one club stronger" version of FG17s and 78 Staff Tour Blades.

If I go to a competitor website (i.e. Ping) and pull up an iron model, I can easily click between "Technology", "Reviews", "Specifications", "Shafts" and "Grips".  As an example, I can see the following specs for my i525 like the following:

I think the whole event at Cabot Citrus Farms is great, and can certainly generate some enthusiasm in the golfing community.  But it certainly makes buying clubs difficult online if we're not getting loft, lie, length and swing weight specs.  For myself, I know my preference in all of these areas, and could order online if they provided the information to do this.

 

When I go to configure the club, I can certainly adjust L/L/L but what am I adjusting it from?  And what is my SW?  Can I specify this, especially as the stock shaft is a DG 115, and I'd likely spec mine in a SF i95CW?

 

And unfortunately, if the goal is to sell via fitters versus online, we have a distinct lack of Wilson fitters in my area.

In regard to the specs, yes it's lackluster on the site.  If you scroll down further, it will show them.  But, it's after reviews, other products, etc.  That info should definitely be moved up the page.  

 

It is something that I hope they address.  The products are great and they're definitely generating more buzz than they have for a while.  But their site is a little clumsy to use and the information is a little lacking.  Linking the videos from social, here, etc would be a nice way to give them more resources to get more information about the product without having to get exposure to other OEMs louder marketing by trying to find it on youtube or other outlets where a company can pay to get their ad placed directly on top.  If a user is already on your site checking out your product, it means they're interested and shopping.  You want to keep them there as they try to get more information vs sending them out to do their own research and risk losing them to a competitors content.  

 

I know just building an entirely new website isn't as simple as it may seem.  And, they may be limited on what they can do as their golf division is hosted on the same site as every other Wilson sport (which is extensive).  Maybe segregating the golf division from the rest of their offerings would give them the freedom to approach their site design differently.  Considering they're trying to make a push in golf and are pretty dominant in most other categories, they may need to tackle it a bit differently.  

 

I really like the vibe of the ads they've been posting on Instagram and other outlets.  I would love to see a similar presentation on their main site.  It's kind of an understated and semi-vintage look that leans into the "classic" aspect of the brand but highlighting their latest and greatest.

Yes the website could use a refresh.  I’ve suggested a Wilson Staff website if they want to play with the big boys again.

 

But like you if I go to an iron set yes…first you get this

Which is better than many of the companies. For instance Titleist does not give you bounce and offset….Callaway does not give bounce.  Ping does give both.

Interesting folks, and yet another puzzle.  @Shilgy what I am now seeing on the website is different than what I was seeing earlier today.  All I saw when I scrolled down from my screenshot above as customer reviews to the end of the page.  Though I did note, your SKU was for the CBs (0326) while mine was for the MB (0327).  Regardless, spec data is there now for the MBs.

 

I'd like to hope they saw the post here and quickly fixed some code, or possibly there was an issue with an image feed when I went to the site.

Welp this thread really motivated me to try out Wilson clubs so - well done! Staff Model MB’s custom built and delivered in less than 5 days. CRAZY good customer service and now I’m contemplating adding wedges and a few dozen of their Staff balls as well.  Job well done Wilson - you’ve earned a new customer out of me!
