LAB or Bettinardi Antidote

DLR

Recommended Posts

As much as I like the SB1, I rolled my DF2.1 this weekend and putted extremely well(31 putts on 14 GIR, zero 3 putts). Tied my lowest round of the year from early March. I’ll still putt with my SB1 tomorrow afternoon.

I must admit, the SB1 made me look at additional Bettinardi models and I picked up another yesterday. I’ll probably look into a studio fitting in Chicago this summer just to get something unique.

This is less a testament on which one is “better” between LAB or Bettinardi, and more of an assurance that both of them work well and it’s probably more down to preference on size, feel off the face, press grip vs non-press grip, etc. of the individual. I’ve been happy to get away from the press grip and even my DF2.1 has no lean/no press grip since it’s a broomstick cut down and rebalanced to 32”. The ExPutt helped me realize I had an aim bias with the press grip and I just couldn’t get a consistent start line.

Try a bunch of different things and you never have to wonder what works best for you.

I own a LAB Link.1 but if I had nothing and had to choose today, I'd go with the Betti SB1. It beats out the Link in the looks department IMO, and it rolls just as well. My girlfriend just bought one. May end up getting one at some point anyway. Best looking zero torque blade available IMO, although there's not a lot of options it's competing with lol

There’s more than you’re probably aware of.  Lost of custom makers making much better looking zt putters

I think all of these look better than what big companies are doing.

You could also listen to Brian’s podcast on Golfwrx account where he discusses and ranks ZT putters, includes some you didn’t list as well.

Thanks for sharing! The Gauge in the top left looks like the Bettinardi, top right is sleek too. Not a fan of the b60 style personally.

Nope. My wife's putter is a hot pink DF3. This one is less shocking. If you did not know, pink is a serene color. I like serenity on a green.

My putters are my girls... maybe yours is not.

Everyone is different - I have a 34.5 in OZ.1i with the heavier head, TPT, and find my distance more consistent.

My normally weighted 35 inch DF3 with TPT, was excellent, but distance control was inconsistent - head felt light. Ordered a heavier head DF3 at 34.5 inches for my wife, and the distance is also more consistent when I putted with her new DF3, Gears Shaft

I hit the antidote the other day at a golf galaxy, stock shaft of course. I didn't like the feel of the ball off the face personally, but it was definitely rolling well. I wish Mizuno would release anything zero torque as I would immediately purchase something, imo they have the nicest soft feel off the face without sacrificing distance.

Just dabbled with the antidote SB1 at golf galaxy and was pleasantly surprised. I don’t often make impulse purchases but I was very close to pulling the trigger on the spot. It felt a bit short lengthwise (which I liked) but awesome feel. Also, it gave me the sense that things were simplified and the T-Alignment was confidence inspiring. Concerning, the mallet shaped antidote, it didn’t suit the eye but stable and decent feel for a zero torque brick. For me, to go the L.A.B route, I’d have to have an on-hands fitting (not knocking the on-line fitting system.)  It felt ok when I rolled it previously, a bit aluminum-y. The customization and tech is appealing. Today, I happened to stumble onto this subject in two ways. I figured that I’d leave my two cents, best of luck.

I owned a Mezz Max ... and I, too, spent time at the Galaxy with the Antidote.

I got rid of the LAB because my speed control was atrocious ... it's a great putter, and I'm convinced the problem was user error ... the Antidote was superior in speed control, but a little less point and shoot like the LAB. Ended up not getting the Antidote, but it felt better to me. The ability to control speed better made up for the slightly less ease to use.
