What’s next coming up from Vessel?

Honestly I’m not impressed with the Lux Air.  I feel it should be lighter.  The previous model VLS DXR was about the same weight and the DXR material is far more durable.

IMO to go to a more inferior material they should have at least gotten more weight savings.

I think because of how "premium" their bags are - leather touchpoints, magnets, etc they can only get it down to around that 4lbs weight. To be honest I think that weight is pretty solid when you compare it to other light walking bags they are all within a .5 lbs standard deviation of weight. (Player 4, Ping Hoofer Lite, SM 2.5).

It seems like they've fixed the zipper issue from the past gen, the top is wider than some of these other bags, and you get all of the vessel features that these other bags don't all have - range finder pouch, cart pass through strap, durable waterbottle holder.

Im going to either buy the Lux Stand DXR or this new vessel Air I just can't decide which is going to be the better option.

Agreed - I find it odd the Players Air is 4.4, and the Lux Air is 4.3....seems like with the smaller format they would have tried to get it under 4.   Seems like the bigger bag would be the better option when your're comparing the weight.

Nevermind - both bags are the same material.

Weird how they're the same weight essentially. The Player Air is a bit larger top and overall. Wonder why they bothered to make the Lux Air.

DXR is far better material than the “Air” stuff.  Far more durable and more water repellent.

Maybe Lux stand DXR is the way to go.

My VLS DXR base just broke and I've been considering the Air models (Player & Lux), but I'm thinking of accepting the .5lb weight increase for the Lux DXR instead.  The Cordura nylon material just makes me nervous on durability.  DXR/Xpac material is just a superior fabric for durability & waterproofness which is why so many backcountry backpacking companies use a laminated version of it.

I have the Sunday III DXR bag and love it. I have a Lux Air arriving today. I will do an in-depth comparison and share my thoughts tomorrow. Cheers y'all!

Opened my bag. Love it! Exactly the compact size I was hoping for without being tiny or awkward.

DXR is a nice material.

My thoughts on the new Lux Air are below:

1) The Lux Air is lighter than my Sunday III DXR; however, I do prefer the DXR material. The cordura on the air feels like a parachute and seems like it could puncture easily. I am careful with my stuff so I’m not overly worried, but for the price of the bag, it seems a little less robust than it could be.

2) The top is quite large, accommodates midsize grips and an oversized putter grip with minimal to no club tangle.

3) The zippers are notably better than the previous Players Air bag. The large pocket needs a little support when zipping it closed, but that’s due to the flexibility of the bag material.

All in all, I am an exclusive walker so I’m excited to carry the Lux Air. It’s got big shoes to fill compared to my Sunday III DXR, but I think it’ll be a joy to carry. Having a little extra pocket space won’t hurt.

Carried the Lux Air yesterday for a few holes, and I will say that it is extremely light. It carrys similar to my Sunday III DXR, but you can definitely feel the weight savings. It rained on me for a few holes and I did not have any issues with water soaking through the nylon. All and all, this will be a great bag for me in the summers.

Yes - I carry the following:

D, 3W, 7W, Putter, alignment sticks in the top

4H, 5i, 6i on the left

7i, 8i, 9i on the right

PW, GW, SW, LW in the bottom

You can easily fit two extra clubs in the top as well as 3 or 4 more wedges in the bottom. It's quite a roomy bag.

Interesting. Sunday 3 is a tight squeeze. Nice to hear it’s lighter too.
