Current Lab wait times

Order 3/21 through Club Champion. Was told 4/5 weeks at order. 
Reached out on 4/21 after hearing nothing and was told they were updating the delivery date to 5/9. This morning I was told first week of June to expect my order.

 

Ordered: OZ1.i cappuccino w/ Accra, heavy head. Standard putting style. 
 

Initial delivery quote: 4/25 (5 weeks after purchase).

1st delivery revision: 5/9 (7 weeks after purchase)

2nd delivery revision: 6/2-6/6 ( 10/11 weeks after purchase)

The lead times are ridiculous. If you are going to be a player step up and increase production. Especially at the inflated price point.

The wait times are for customs. Increased production wouldn’t help custom orders.  Production putters are easy to get

Increased production includes adding staff to build custom putters. No sense in waiting 6-8 weeks or more for a $700 or more putter.

Once again I don’t think you have a clue.  They are machined to order, then have to go to anodizing (outsourced).  They aren’t just glueing them together.  They are literally made to order and several of the steps are outsourced.  Almost every other option that machines to order takes just as long if not longer.

Hmm, ran production factories for decades. Understand the made to order part but a production expert could do wonders.

once again customer one off builds are production models.  The part that takes the longest I can guarantee you is the anodizing, it’s done in batches so must wait til they have enough of a single color and then takes time to actually get it done.  Anything I get PVD or coated is a 4-6 week turnaround time from suppliers.

Once again, if that’s the bottleneck you look for additional options. Locked into one vendor is a recipe for disaster. Especially one where process/quality is suspect. The ROI for customer putters is high so finding a way to meet demand with acceptable lead times is crucial for growth and profit. Competition will ramp up so get better or competition will.

I understand your frustration.  Better not to order one in that case.  Building one too few has worked out great for companies like Porsche over time.

I ordered min 3/31 from LAB website and was told 4-6 weeks. They reached out in April with a question about my build and told me it should be not later than 5/13 but my putter hasn't entered production so not sure when I will get it.

The putter arrived just in time for the golf trip to Barton Creek in Austin.  I have tried many Lab putter in store and in fitting and this Custom fitted DF3 is awesome and definitely fitted me more than the store bought.

 

Worth the wait! 😆

Oz.1i, 34.5, Accra, through a retailer.  Same day but not in production yet.

I've noticed the insert head seems to be taking longer, looking at this thread.  I just placed an order recently for the non-insert Oz.1 (G7 markings) black head with black Accra shaft - May 7th direct from website.  Hoping to get it in time for a Father's Day trip...will keep the thread updated with my timeline as an extra data point for those interested.

OZ.1 no insert, green, steel shaft. Got this reply today "Currently, we have your putter on a hold while we wait for the OZ.1- Green heads to be back in-stock. 
Our inventory team is expecting to see those heads very soon, but there is no determined timeline."

Piling on here, but don't make me pay for shipping on a $600-$1,000 putter that I have to wait 2+ months for. Says the guy waiting for his putter to crawl across the united states...

We are clearly a need it now society and have little patience for waiting on products. I have bought several custom rifles and custom fishing rods with very similar wait times. All hand assembled products with excellent reputations. No problem with the wait knowing the quality of the product. In Texas we have people waiting in line for 8-10 hours to eat BBQ. There are a lot crazier things than waiting 8-10 weeks on a putter. Lol.

Me and a buddy placed a custom order on March 13th thru a local club builder with a Lab account.  He did the Link.1 with an Accra shaft, and I did the DF3 with an Accra shaft.  We were just told a few days ago that we are probably looking at the end of June at the earliest before we get our putters.   I get that these are custom built putters, but this extended wait time is getting ridiculous.  We thought by ordering them in March there would be no chance we would not see these putters before our member guest in June.  Very frustrating.  My buddy wants to cancel his order and go a different route, but I’m trying to keep him on board.  After reading some of the dates you guys are posting, I’m starting to think that we should’ve went directly through Lab as I think the custom orders thru outside accounts get put on the back burner.

So I have two LAB Putters(DF3 and OZ1.i).  I had two previous ones (Mezz and DF2.1).  I also owned my own custom putter company for quite awhile.  Custom putters are not fast, even ones where the options are limited, let alones ones where you have countless alignment options and piles of color options, length, head weight, shafts, etc.  Remember they could get a bad batch of shafts, their anodizing company could have a backlog or an issue, any number of things can cause an issue.

 

If people are complaining about waiting then, go buy off the rack, and have it not fit and get your amazon same day delivery requirement.

 

If people are complaining about being told 5 weeks and it ends up being 8 weeks, that is a different story entirely.

 

There are two things that can kill a company, no/slow sales, and more sales than you can keep up with.

 

I imagine they order huge batches of putters in all their different colors, then drill the shaft angle and alignment on heads with the colors on them.  I just saw a video on the other golf site where LAB is now third in putter revenue behind only Cameron and Odyssey.  I imagine that this huge quick increase in sales has stretched them, and finding contractors to bring in and train isn't easy, it is a growing pain and hopefully they learn from it, get better at estimating waits, and lower wait times through efficiencies.

Hasn't L.A.B. pretty much said that unless you get a custom, fitted model - that they can't guarantee the performance of the product?

 

So, they are very purposefully funneling people into custom builds. 

 

If L.A.B. had a different marketing strategy, then people might be more sympathetic.

Ordered my custom Oz1.i direct from LAB on March 29th. I was told 4-6 weeks with an expected ship date of 5/10. 
 

Recently reached out to them and asked for an update and haven’t heard back, hoping it comes in before the end of the month 🤞.
