2025 Maxfli Tour/X/S Reviews

I'm dedicating this thread to reviews of the Maxfli Tour/X/S line of balls for those who have played the 2023 Maxfli balls and wonder what's the difference between them and the 2025 release.  Please post your reviews and comparisons here.

Without a doubt the Maxfli Tour line has earned its place as a premium competitive golf ball and there are those of us who play it exclusively.

I used the 2023 Maxfli Tour X (MTX) exclusively last year and I do not see how it could be improved. The ball was long off the tee and had lots green side spin.  Very controllable.

I've now had two practice rounds and a chipping session with the 2025 MTX, comparing the two balls side by side, and I'm just not sure of the results.  There are a few differences I've noticed.

The first had to do with the cover getting dirty easier than the old ball.  Even when chipping the 2025 MTX would accumulate some brown spots, which I was able to wipe off.  But if you can't pick up your ball and clean it, you're going to see them. This happened when chipping or playing full shots. And it happened very quickly, even after just a few shots. I'm not sure what's causing this and it happened on more than one golf course. The 2023 ball never did that.

I also had a two instances of the 2025 MTX having what I could only describe as a flyer. When hitting multiple shots from one location, both off the tee and on the ground, and both instances with my four hybrid, I had a flyer that was a half club or more longer. I'm not sure why that happened but I think the ball may be a little more volatile than the older version.  It only happened twice but it seemed like the ball had more spin and really took off.

You can also feel that the 2025 MTX is sometimes really fast off the tee as if it's jumping and spinning. I haven't tested it on any kind of machine.  It's just my feedback so it may not be real. As far as distance off the tee, I haven't really been able to make a determination one way or the other.

I'm going to continue evaluating the 2025 MTX balls and I'll post a follow-up.  Please post all your reviews of the 2025 Maxfli Tour line here, even a partial review like this one.  Thanks

After years of playing my best golf with the Bridgestone RX, even when I had a higher swing speed. I’ve been playing the 2023 Maxfli Tour for the past year. It surprised me by being long even when I was focused on swinging more

deliberately at about 70%. Most firmer balls I lost 1/2 a club or more with irons. Not so much with the Maxfli.

With the increased firmness of the tour in ‘25 I  just picked up a dozed Tour S to try. I prefer a softer ball generally and seem to be at home in the 75-85 compression range. I’m hoping to hear others experience with the Tour S.

I frankly hope it will be equal or better than the Bridgestone RX with similar “feel”.

Im looking forward to playing these Tour S balls this weekend.

I have now played three rounds with the new 2025 Maxfli Tour X YELLOW ball. That's not a lot of rounds but enough to get a feel of how the ball is different from the 2023 model.

The ball is definitely different but similar.

What I do find improved is that it seems to have less dispersion off the longer clubs, clubs 25° and lower. I can't really attest to how well it does on the shorter clubs, as I didn't really play that well with them so I won't make any judgments there. However the long balls are straighter,  noticeably so. Balls that would have drifted left or right don't seem to. And they seem to fly a bit higher. Overall this is a noticeable improvement.

One of the amazing things of the 2023 Tour X was its green side spin. Not only was long off the tee but it had a tremendous amount of green side spin, bordering on too much. I think the amount of greenside spin on the 2025 ball is a bit less. I will have to give that more time to judge conclusively though. But shots that I expected to really stop tight rolled some.

The ball is definitely durable. However it does have this oddity of attracting brown colored stuff on it (which I'm assuming is dirt). It's happened on more than one golf course and it's happened to the ball very quickly, I mean like just a few shots and not just long shots. Chip shots even. The old ball stayed clean.

Here's a picture of what it looks like after three rounds.  Ball was not washed or anything.  No brown stuff pictured.

image.jpeg.f8aca418e1cb674ff703721c5921ff44.jpeg

I'll do some more testing soon. I haven't been playing as much golf as I used to cuz I'm now playing softball 4 days a week and am in two different bowling leagues. However, I've played thousands of rounds of golf in my life. And I live in Florida so most of the time so it's good weather for golf, actually pretty much any activity outside 🙂

My gamer last year was the 2023 Maxfli Tour S for most of the year. I was not getting the spin or height I needed on the short irons to the green, so I changed to the 2023 Maxfli Tour, it was the improvement I was looking for and I had found the right ball for my game. Then they go and change the balls! Well, after reading the compression specs with the 2023 Tour @ 85 compression and the 2025 Tour S 85 compression I thought I would do a comparison between the two balls. I went to Golf Galaxy and they were nice enough to lend me a bay. I tested shots with a 54 degree, 6 iron and Driver. In general, I found the flight a little lower with the 2023 tour but the spin was within 200 rpm average +/- and I did not really feel a different between them. The only conclusion I was able to come up with is that The new 2025 Tour S is basically the same as the 2023 Tour. The 23's are on closeout sale in 4 dozen for $109.98 ($27.50 per dozen balls) So I stocked up with 8 for the season. It will be interesting to see if others find the same results. That would make the 2025 Tour S my future gamer when I run out of 2023 Tours.

Comments on the MTX durability? I found poor durability with the '23 MTX. Wedges just ate it up. Hoping the new cover will be better. Not to mention different flight?

I thought that 2023 MTX was durable personally. I would use balls for multiple rounds. Maybe you just hit the ball pretty hard but I've never had that problem. And the 2025 MTX is similar and durability my brief experience using it. I'm using the yellow one.

I have 2 dozen of the 2021 ball and 6 dozen of the 2023 Maxfli Tour.  Love the ball.  How different is the 2025?  I have not played the 2025 MT or the 2024 Vice Pro (their new iteration).  I game either.  I'm in the upper mid swing speed category.  Swing driver at 92-96 mph depending upon how my knees and hips are feeling that day.  General rule drives go 220-240.  8i is 140ish.

Has anyone noticed a flatter trajectory on the 25 MTX vs 23?  The dimple pattern has been updated (per MGS):

the Tour X now features a 336-dimple cover. As I said, that’s the cover most commonly found on higher-compression four-piece balls so it’s always been a little odd that previous Tour X iterations leveraged the 318-dimple pattern.

I think the 2025 yellow MTX may fly higher than the 23. Now whether it's higher and flatter I can't really tell. From my observations using it on a golf course I find that after I hit it, and look for it, it just seems higher than before. I do like it. And I think it's straighter or has better wind control. Kind of disappointed about buying several dozen of the 2023s to be safe. It's definitely a different ball with a lot of similarities. I think I would make the switch although I do want to give it a few more rounds.

I have 6 dozen of the 2023.  Is there that big of a difference between the 2023 and 2025?  I hate this forum....😉😁......I've slept too many nights on the couch because of this place.  I also have about 20 dozen balls that I'm supposed to be snuffing onto my son but he don't play often enough....How am I supposed to buy new balls if he don't lose the old ones quick enough?

is that a core compression or a ball compression?

Based on the reviews that quote the 85 rating I assume that is the ball, not core.

I play the tour x exclusively and have for a couple years. I don’t see any appreciable difference in durability. I played the same ball for several rounds to the point black sharpie has worn off with no cover issues. If you hit a tree/cart path it will of course scuff.

no issue with wedges eating the ball but I always clean the clubface. If you’re hitting your wedge with sand/grit on the face then it’s capable of scuffing any urethane ball out there.

I played another round -first for holes 2025 MTX then switched to the 2023 MTX.  The 2023 is definitely harder feeling and has a harsh click when hit, but that's ok with me.  I like that.  I do think the 2023 is spinnier around the green than the 2025, maybe too spinny actually.  I have sometimes hit chips that checked too much because I forgot how much it spins.  I think the 2025 rolls out a bit more.

I switched to the new 25 Tour from the 23 X.  The Tour spins so much better around the greens and it is just as long.  My son didn't like the Tour X and used the Taylormade TP5.  He played the 25 Tour this weekend and loved it, he is now switching to the Tour.

Saw the new advanced alignment aid in person this weekend, looks great. Had a playing partner say he found a TP5 a couple times due to the advanced alignment before realizing it was actually my brothers Maxfli.

I was hoping they would keep the large arrows. But I may have to pick up a box of the new ones to see them in person.

I've played five rounds with the new 2025 MTX. My final analysis comparing it to the 2023 MTX is basically they're similar but different. I find the 2025 to be softer sounding and better at holding it's line.  I think it gets up higher faster.  But it doesn't have the super spin around the greens of the 2023. It's more normal.  The 2023 was incredibly spinny around the greens.  Distance wise they are about the same.  I think the choice will come down to personal preference for people. Of course the 2023 is no longer made so I guess eventually I'll have to transition to it. But I have a few boxes left of the 2023 so it'll be a while. I don't lose many balls. I used the same 2025 MTX for all those rounds. It's a little beat up but still usable. And it still puts well.

Never played previous versions but recently did a Ballnamic fitting and it suggested the 2025 Maxfli Tour for me so I'm testing them out.  High swing speed player previously coming from a TP5x.  Seem pretty durable so far, I went back and forth between two balls for 18 holes with quite a few full wedge shots and will probably play them again.  They did seem to get discolored pretty quickly though, my white balls were brownish-yellow for about 12 holes.  I tend to not use alignment tools but this one seems like it would be useful but also subtle enough it's not distracting if you don't use it.

Performance-wise I'm seeing maybe a little bit less distance and bit lower ball flight off the tee.  Loved how it felt off wedges and it was softer off the putter as well.  Where I've really noticed a difference is these are coming off my irons HOT.  I seem to be getting 10+ more yds from what I'm used to with my irons.  Not sure why I saw more distance off the irons but felt like it wasn't as hot off the driver?

I know Ballnamic recommended the Maxfli Tour but try the Maxfli Tour X, it will fly higher and should give you more distance off the tee.  Don't know if it will change some of that boost you're getting in the irons.
