2025 Maxfli Tour/X/S Reviews

Was able to play yesterday. Now granted I have always been and X player so maybe the ProV1/Tour is a better fit for me and I have never actually played the V1 on course but using the Maxfli Tour yesterday I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever played a better ball. I’m not saying it’s better than the ProV1 but at half the cost it’s a no brainer. It’s long, spins in the exact window I’m looking for off all clubs and feels great. What really impressed me was how well mid irons seemed to hold their line. Played the back tees yesterday in very soggy conditions, 7300 yds don’t ask me why ha, and had several 5/6 irons into greens and par threes that had minimal curve and stopped feet from their pitchmark. Also had several drives over 300 which was essentially all carry because of conditions. It was 85 and very humid so the ball was carrying a bit.

Just played 18 holes with the Maxfli Tour S.  Gamer is normally a Callaway Chrome Soft.

Never mind that I shot the lowest score of the season (78), this ball was really good.  I thought I might think this ball was a little too firm with an 85 compression, but it did not feel that way at all.  I think what I most liked about the performance was the way it would hold greens.  The Chrome Soft would land and roll where as the Tour S would land and stop with not near as much rollout.

I'm going to give it another go on Tuesday and see how it performs.  Thus far, I'm pretty pleased with it.

Did you notice the balls getting marked up like others have discussed here?

No issues on any markups or discoloration, but I also clean 'em when I get to the green. Played six rounds with the Tour X last week without issues, and in fact noticed much better durability than the Callaway Chrome Tours I was playing previously.  Bought 4 dozen the other night with the $20 off $100 coupon at Dick's.

I noticed that with the Tour S.  Durability seems to be very good.  Not a blemish on the ball after 18 holes.

Played another round with the Tour S yesterday and it was stellar.  I think I may have found a ball to replace the Chrome Soft for the following reasons.

1.  Does not feel any firmer even though the compression is about 10 points higher than the Chrome Soft.

2.  Feel off the putter is reassuring.  Slightly less strike with the putter is getting me better results.

3.  Distance seems pretty much the same and perhaps a little better with the irons.

4.  Pitch / chips are now holding greens much better and this alone is the deciding factor for me along with the feel.

Typically game 24 TP5x or Left Dash Prov1x.  I ended up doing a Ballnamics fitting and to my surprise the Maxfli Tour ball was in my top 4.  I was hesitant to purchase it because I really enjoy the feel of a firmer ball and the Tour X just spin up too much for me.  I ended up getting the 4 dozen box of the Maxfli Tour and spent some time with it today practicing short game.  Feel wise, it's definitely softer than what I'm used to.  Couldn't give you a comparison because it's been so long since I've used a sub 100 compression ball but I quickly got used to it.  Performance around the greens is excellent.  Low spinners, mid flight pitches, and flop shots all performed well beyond my expectations.  Though they are softer it really feels solid off the wedge face.  The spin I get it, more importantly, the consistency of spin in all lies impressed me.  So much control!   Short game is the strength of my game so I'm very particular in the balls that I use.  I thought these balls would be balls I use for scrambles or just fun rounds that include plenty of beers but after today I'm really considering using them as my main gamer.  That being said, I haven't played a full round with it so the jury is out on how it performs with my driver and irons.  If they perform as well as they did today I'll have no hesitation to switch.

Will be waiting to read your post on full round performance.

Don't know which is lower spinning because I've really only been playing the Tour X.  But I think Dick's/ Golf Galaxy is missing an opportunity by not selling trial packs, or even sleeves, of the MaxFli Tour balls.  They only sell Bridgestone balls by the sleeve at my Golf Galaxy in Orlando, FL despite manufacturing MaxFli!  It would be helpful to be able to buy a sleeve of whichever type MaxFli you wanted to see if it is the proper fit before you buy 4 dozen - or even one dozen.

On the second dozen of the Tour x and put up the best round of the year this morning, seems to do it all and really good around the greens and putting for me. I am not a high SS player but always play X balls like Chrome tour x or PV1x for the spin and see no drop off at all off on any of the clubs.

I was going to try the tour this time but prefer a 4 piece ball just because that is what I have always played and I agree if they sold sleeves it would be a good test.

Just finished a very rainy 18 and shot a solid 73.  The ball performed pretty well.  No difference that I could tell with carry numbers with woods and irons.  Not a ton of run out today due to the rain but happy with the carry numbers.  We have a par 3 that plays 218 from the tips (front pin) I typically hit my 4i about 225ish and I hit my number almost exactly with the Maxfli Tour.  Launch is slightly lower than the TP5x or left dash Prov1x I typically play but it def spins a little more.  This ball reminds a lot of the Z star or Prov1.  Though it spins a tad bit more with driver I found iron spin and launch to be “mid” which I really enjoyed.  I hit 14/18 greens which is a bit better than I average.  I wasn’t able to suck back any wedge shots due to the rain but it hit my launch windows and distances perfectly.  Jury is still out but I’m really happy with the ball so far.  I need another round or two in better conditions to make my final conclusions but so far it’s exceeding expectations!

I’m so unsure as to what one of the balls to get. But I think I’m just going to trust ballnamic and go with the tour x despite being fit into the regular prov1 so I was leaning more tour balls but with the same numbers ballnamic gives me some tour balls and the maxfli tour x as the top answer. So I’ll trust it and give that a shot.

I could not have put it any better.  I had the same experience today with my first round using the Tour S.  I'd played my last few rounds with Chrome Soft (previous year model) after essentially exhausting my supply of Snell MTB Blacks.

Yeah man I was in the same boat.  Haven’t been in a sub 100 compression ball in years.  But I trusted the Ballnamics fitting.  I find it accurate if you know your launch monitor stats.  My top 4 was srixon xv, vice pro plus, prov1x and maxfli tour.  I would’ve leaned srixon xv or prov1x first but I’ve never been a fan of how srixon perform with woods and prov1x is great but expensive.  Why not try the maxfli tour at $30 a dozen if it performs near to the other two.

Ended up biting the bullet and just jumping in for the tour x’s. I’ll definitely see how the ball performs tomorrow!

Started playing with 2025 Tour X this week, played 2023 all last year.

In my first sleeve of 2025, all 3 covers started scuffing and ripping. A bunker shot could be to blame for the first, but the others I don't have a reason. 2023 could last 18+ (if I could keep it that long) without issue. Will see if this is just a one sleeve/box issue, or something larger. I hope they are an outlier because I am a big fan of the 2025 Max Align change.

Feeling and playing I have not noticed any major differences between 2023/2025. 2025 may be a bit firmer, but minimally so.

Have put the 2025 Tour X through the paces and can say any durability issues I’ve had were limited to the first sleeve I used. The ball has been lights out since then. Long, durable, spins and holds! Still liking the 2025 max align, plan on stocking up for the future.

I am down to my last dozen of TP5 from a 4for3 sale

Was looking to try out the new Mizuno ball as I have read good things about it in another thread

But the Maxfli were the better deal and I am a sucker for alignment aids on golf balls

I tried out the 2021 ball and it did not fly that good with my irons but hoping the improvements made in this ball will correct that.

Will report back with my thoughts once I get them out there.

Of course my home course just areated the greens, so It might be awhile before I get them out there

Always like to test a new ball out on a course I am familiar with.

They feel good off the putter on the carpet.

I do like the new alignment aid over the arrows

The arrows were really bad IMO.

I'm going to buy 4 doz. 2025 Maxfli balls today.  I have a stock of around 5 -6 dozen 2023 Maxfli Tour and like playing them.  I'm 58 and my SS is dropping off a bit but still hover in the low to mid 90's range.  I have 4 doz. Tour S in the shopping cart.

Question 1:  Is the 5 pt. compression difference between the 23 Tour and 25 Tour S that big a deal?

Question 2: would there be any drop off in spin from 100 yds in?  This is where I score from not being a great driver of the ball (Inconsistent).

Question 3: I do like the Chrome Soft 360.  How close to that ball would the Tour S be?

I've been playing the '23 Tour all year, and just played a couple rounds with the '25 Tour S. To me, they are nearly identical. The new S might be just a hair softer, but they are very close.

I didn't notice any spin issues. Unfortunately, I think if you want more spin, you need to go with something much firmer. I'm 61, and prefer a softer ball. I'd like a touch more spin, but for me, the softer feel  is more important.

Tried the 25 Tour X today.  It’s just ok (for me).  It’s a smidge more clicky than I like.   Switched back to TP5x on the back and scored much better.

I do like the Max Align, and overall I don’t think it’s a bad ball, it’s certainly an exceptional value.  I just prefer the TP5x and Pro V1x a bit more.

... Probably not a popular take but for most, there really isn't a lot of performance difference between the Tour, Tour X and Tour S. Yes, they feel different and there is some spin difference, especially comparing the X to the S. But my guess is other than low index high swing speed players, most could play any of the three and shoot the same scores. I don't say this because choosing one of the three is irrelevant, just that there is no need to agonize over a decision. I have shot in the 60's using all three balls.

... That said, I play the Tour X because it spins a little more than the Tour with a higher trajectory off the tee and with my irons. On really windy days I play the Tour. And while it is far from a night and day difference, the Tour S spun just a little less than I like around the green and I prefer a firm feeling ball if it gives the performance I want. For the cost of 4 dozen at $119.98 ya might as well try all 3. Many don't know you don't have to buy a cube to get that price and you can add any combination of the 4 to get the same price. So if you are leaning toward one ball, buy two dozen of that one and one dozen of the other two. Or if you know a lower compression ball like the Tour S won't work for your game, just buy a dozen each of the Tour and Tour X for $70.
