Mizuno Does a standard set of Mizuno Pro 241 irons have tip weights in them?

Hi,

i brought a set of Mizuno Pro 241 last year for a great deal. I was told they are standard mizuno pro 241 irons. While I was changing the ferrules for them, i notice almost all of them have tip weights in them. Im not sure if that’s the standard. Could it have been a custom set that was sold to me? If so, what should be the swing weight for each of the irons? Hope someone could help me.

What shafts are installed? The only time a manufacturer would install tip weights is a custom order to increase the swingweight. Or the person who sold them to you installed the tip weights. I did this to an old set of PING eye2+ way back when.

Every set of irons I’ve ever pulled apart from any manufacturer other than Ping/PXG have had tip weights installed, both custom and off the shelf.  Ping and PXG are designed to be swingweighted via external weights, all other manufacturers have no other options but to use tip weights.

What make and model irons do you have?  A quick google search should give you standard specs for swingweight for your set.

Tip weights are used by OEM’s all the time. They can be used to address weight differences in the head or shaft. There are tolerances in these parts, + - a few grams. Mizuno, generally, gets an iron to D2, unless it’s a custom build. Or a graphite build. Tip weights are used to achieve this.

You can take Ping off that list.  ALL new Pings use internal weights (hosel and in toe).

Correct, I was referring to sets I’ve personally pulled apart.

They probably have tip weights in them.  Standard swing weight would be D0-D2.  The set I built myself with kbs tour 120s had 6-8g in each club.

Ping, PXG, and Callaway do it right. I am VERY sensitive to swing weight and I typically don’t buy irons from anyone else.
