Scotland transport

Does anybody have a recommendation for car transport from Edinburgh to Cruden Bay?  Just a couple of us, so don’t need a large vehicle.  Thanks.

Not sure what you mean. Rental car seems the answer - whatever your stuff fits in for size, you don’t say what you have for luggage. My wife and I had a pretty small SUV (just a hatchback) in Ireland - not what I reserved but it worked out fine with the back seats down. Slightly larger one in Scotland a few years ago. I’d recommend the bigger one but it’s not all that big as SUVs go.

Yeah, sorry that wasn’t very clear.  I decided not to rent a car as I didn’t want to deal with driving.  I figure I can walk, cab, and bus around once I get to CB.  But I’m looking for a car service from Edinburgh to CB.  I know there are lots of golf related services but I assume they’ll be larger vehicles designed for groups.

Just google Edinburgh transportation companies. There will be many to get quotes and choose from.

Cruden Bay is very walkable; my dad lives 5 miles away and I have no idea if they have taxis or not.

 

There is public buses that could get you from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and then to Cruden Bay and they would be very cheap! if you are over 65 almost free!

Thanks.  Yeah, I thought I’d use taxi or bus when we go up to Peterhead and Fraserburgh but will walk around town.

Why not take the train to Aberdeen then have a pre-arranged local taxi take you further north? It will be a lot cheaper. Research taxis in Cruden Bay and nearby areas and ask for a total price of the lifts you want.

The train would certainly work; tram to Edinburgh centre then train to Aberdeen.

 

Taxi to Cruden Bay is about 25 miles - that would not be cheap. I am 5 miles or so form the airport and that is 25 for a taxi there.

Yes, taxis are gonna cost a fortune. Might get lucky with bus schedules and bus stops being close to the courses. I have no idea of bus service that far north. I use buses a lot between North Berwick, Gullane etc because of drink-driving, but that is dead easy.

Except the walk up Mount Cruden to #9 tee…. Lol

That is one of the worst walks in golf. It was bad before the hole redesign, but it’s far worse now. Luckily the views from the top are very fine.

trying playing there with a 73 year old, 79 year old and a 83 year old. I have to push hard.

It’s worth it when you get there, but a tough climb for sure.

The course I grew up playing in Florida had a steeper hill but not as long. There was a tow rope to help walkers. It was affectionately called “heart attack Hill”
