I hit all 3 versions at Edwin watts this evening.

they have a really nice putter. It is miles better in looks and feel than the labs and odysseys to me.

I liked the regular version better than the counterbalance and broomstick.
pretty automatic inside 6 feet.

liked the spider tour x with the plumbers neck even more.

im not in the market for one (i play a PLD custom) but I would get a spider tour x if I needed a new putter. And I hate inserts

the regular zt was really nice and I think a lot of people will love them

Rolled these in store, purchased one and ended up returning it.

Took it out to the practice green and tested extensively against my DF3. The Spider ZT is nice, but I felt the DF3 was more stable and felt more like it to “swung itself.” Compared to the DF3, the spider  ZT felt more like a traditional centre shaft putter if that makes sense.

Don’t get me wrong, the ZT is a beautiful putter. It’s a much more premium product than the odyssey square to square (and the price reflects that). I preferred the superstroke grip to the lab press grip. Also the kbs stepless black shaft is superior to the standard steel of the stock DF3. But at the end of the day, the DF3 won as it was easier for me to make more putts.

if I didn’t already have a DF3 and didn’t know better, I would have likely kept it.

I really wish LAB would go away from that stock “stepped” true temper steel shaft. Agree with you, every other zero torque putter I’ve tried is nice, but doesn’t have the same weighting feel.

Our course is closed for aeration but they hadn't done the putting green yet. I spent almost 2 hours out there yesterday rolling the CB vs my Lab Oz 34". This putter is a winner for sure but I'm not 100% sold on it because it feels so different in the CB model. I think I'm going to have to just get used to it though. The ZT actually rolls the ball better and starts the ball online better than the Lab. The feel is definitely softer, heavier and the KBS GPS shaft is better than my Lab Accra too. Looks are subjective so I'll leave it to preference. I think the ZT is more stable. It will be in the bag if I play elsewhere and when our greens heal.

That being said, the CB makes it harder to feel the head. I took the SS cap off and you cannot get a counter weight down in the shaft so I cant tinker with that. The shaft inside diameter is too small. Also I don't think the longer SS grip is offset like the normal putters are. If it is I cannot see it as the shaft enters the grip at the center. I am thinking about trying to get the SS Tour offset grip from TM and cut this down. I did the same with the Betti I had and the folks at Bettinardi told me it would not effect performance. I know Lab says you can cut down an inch with no issues but any more than that it could effect it. I would need to go down 3" with this to get it to normal length. Need to find someone at TM that will really know and not just a normal CSR.

from my perspective there is 1 main argument.  Why would taylormade charge the same amount as LAB?  It you want to spend $500 on a lie angle balanced putter, why not buy it from the experts?

It's hard to argue when TM has 25 PGA TOUR wins since 2024 compared to LAB Golf 2.

LABs are more expensive because they are hand crafted customs made in the USA.  TM are most likely built in Asia somewhere.  I do think it validates LAB's premise that the big OEMs are copying them.  That being said I think the spider is too ugly and prefer the look of the LAB designs.

How easy is it to mess up? lol

I think TM missed the mark by now extending the line all the way back.

I’ve used it on other putts before. It does take some precision to get right, but it also doesn’t matter if you mess it up, comes right off.

I might look into it. I like that its forgiving and not permanent. I assume it helps to have something to hold the putter for you, like a vice or something?

No doubt imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Doubt that makes LAB feel too warn n fuzzy tho. Haha

That said, we obviously all have different tastes in aesthetics. For me the LABs all look fine enough sans the DF3 n 2.1. I will never not see ‘metal detector’ when I see one 😂

I have a 36" on preorder but walked into the store today and they had them out. Man its nice, it feels so much more normal than my DF3 but accomplishes the same thing. The grips on them are so much better than Lab's, hopefully lab will offer that super stroke 1.5 degree grip with their putters but I went with the 36 counterbalanced anyways so its just the normal grip.... I bought it since my preorder still hasnt shipped and called to cancel the preorder they said they cant becuase its shipping tomorrow... oh well guess I'll return the other one when it comes in... or if anyone needs one instead of waiting til the next august release hit me up in a PM.

I stopped in GG on my way home and they had them all out as well. It really does look and feel great. It’s much shorter front to back than I expected but overall love the look. It really rolls great and it’s an easy roll.

This is understated in my opinion. Traditionally hate super strokes, but this feels perfect (or could be the affect of using a big lab grip for a while). I lose feel with the lab pistol

Bought mine today, felt really good in the store. Will give it a roll on the practice green tomorrow. From what I can tell, not as "zero torque" as a LAB, the putter definitely wants to sit toe up at rest. Interestingly I felt most comfortable with the 35 inch but my other putters are 33/34 inch and I'm about 5'8".

Interested in how this feels for lag putting vs LAB.

Can you feel the head more because the TM is heavier?

I played my first round with it today and the head definitely "feels" heavier than a lab. There's theories on why that is that I won't bother getting into. The spider was very soft compared to my oddessey o works blade. So speed control took a little to get right but I had no problems lag putting with it. The thing rolls so nicely though. It's effortless to put a good roll on the ball

I had my worst putting round in years last week so like a true GolfWRX member I dropped by PGA SS last night to try out the new Spider ZT. I focused on the regular 35" and 38" counterbalance. I really loved the performance and came back home to re-read the GolfWRX release, MGS release, and Taylormade's official release.  As I understood it, all models have 1° of shaft lean in the SS grip. If I had not read that, I would have thought the counterbalance actually had a SS grip with MORE forward shaft lean.

On a side note: I've never, ever tried a counterbalance putter before and found myself gravitating to it. I didn't bother to look if it was 36" or 38". If I recall correctly, when Scotty Cameron released the DB they were recommended 3" longer than your normal length. In my example, this would be 35" + 3" = 38". Am I correct on this?

The counterbalance just have regular super stroke grips, no lean.

I’ve had nothing but a blade style putter for a long time.  When my stroke is good, they’re money but the slightest deviation is stroke or set up, and it’s game over.  Tried the LAB style, and the betti’s but the larger models were way to awkward to look at, and the smaller versions (antidote 1) just seemed like a blade putter.

Got the std ZT, and maybe it’s the color or milling, but it just doesn’t feel large front to back for me, and man does this thing roll.  Love the grip.  It does have a little less “feel” but over the past 2 days, its starting to feel normal.  I made 15 straight from 8 ft on practice green and it’s been a LONG time since that has happened.  I think this has potential to take a few strokes off the round!

I picked up a 36 inch CB at our local superstore yesterday. Agree with @DesertRain above, I too have been playing a blade almost exclusively for three years after dabbling with a Scotty Phantom for a while. Have gotten sick and tired of hitting it inside 20 feet and having putts not even hit the hole or having putts inside 6 feet lip out.

I play a 33.5 and the 36 inch feels so nice and stable. It was so much more point and shoot that it was silly. Made sure to hit a bunch of putts from varying directions at the store and when two 40 footers across the green went in back to back, I knew it was time to check out. Did one last check on a 6 footer and three in a row went in dead center. The lip outs with a blade lately have been killing me!
