The counterbalance just have regular super stroke grips, no lean.

I'm sure you're right but just to relay where I got that idea from, Taylormade's website uses the exact same language for both the Spider ZT and Spider ZT Counterbalance:

"LOW-TORQUE DESIGN
The KBS shaft is bored directly in line with the CG with slight forward shaft lean and 25mm onset behind the leading edge. This creates a toe-up orientation which enhances stability throughout the stroke. The SuperStroke Grip is also positioned in a manner that encourages forward shaft lean to minimize the addition of loft at impact."

https://www.taylormadegolf.com/Spider-ZT/DW-TE614.html?lang=en_US

The way I interpret that is that both grips have the same 1° forward press SS grip.  I could absolutely be wrong on that though.

Unfortunately that's just TaylorMade being lazy and copy/pasting without checking all the info. The CB has a long Superstroke 3.0 that is straight through with no press built in. Would be cool if it did have the press though!

I rolled up to my local Golf Galaxy today with a gift card and some store credit in hand, hopeful that I'd love the broom. Alas, it was not to be. The head looks and rolls it nice, but I did not like the shaft one bit. It felt a bit tip soft, and it definitely felt like the head was deflecting a smidge during the stroke and impact. Curious whether or not anyone else that's tried the sweeper felt the same.

@TaylorMade Golf can you cut down the 38” CB to a normal length without any ill effects? I like heavier heads anyway but don’t want to ruin the balance.

Edit: Just asking because I compared a 36” to 38” and the weights in the putter were all the same. I’m guessing since these aren’t lie angle balanced that it would be fine to cut down but want to confirm.

This would be like saying Chevy Volt is better than a Toyota Prius because Chevy has 92 NASCAR wins since 2024.

Unless those wins were with the ZT putter (EV vehicle) then what's the relevance?

TM raced to the finish line today. I replaced SC 5s 34” with 36” CB ZT. TM 1 - Chevy 92 😁

I believe you can trim no more than 2” off before the CB gets thrown out whack and you’re left with a putter with a heavy head.

Fairly sure I spotted J Rose gaming this putter today.

it doesn't look like he is using the 1.5 degree super stroke on his, looks like a regular grip. Also seems like it could be the graphite shaft from the counterbalanced model.  Maybe its the heavy model with a regular grip counterbalanced?  Need some close ups of it!

I talked to TM today. Their putter is designed differently and can be cut down with no ill effects to the zero torque. He stated you can even mess around with the weights in the bottom if you want a different feel. Not sure what I’m going to do yet. I can trade back for a 35” but I would like to keep the GPS shaft.

Rolled the long putter yesterday myself, albeit RH, so hard to truly gauge feel but they also had a 45" Mezz and DF3 with Accra in store to compare, also RH.

I liked the shaft and head combo and I think the face gave it the clickier feel that is sometimes missing with the DF3. Shaft felt similar to the Accra overall, maybe slightly stiffer to me, but longest putt I could roll was not even 20 feet. Head looked great and I liked the grip, but the LAB sweepers looked so much cleaner.

My takeaway is that I would play it depending on what customization options they offer because I liked the feel more than my DF3 sweeper. 46" felt a little long, 45" felt right and would love to have the chance to test feel against a long Oz.1i.

Nicely done. Initial thoughts?

Rolled the TM today. Oz1 on order. I dont like the shaft lean on most ZT putters.

About to head out and play 18 now, will report back post round.

Well, how’d it go?

Course was super slow so I played 2 balls tee to green. One with the LAB and other with the TM. Initial thoughts are this is not going in the bag for a couple weeks until after our member guest happens. The head felt heavier in the swing them my Oz with insert and ever so slightly more stable, but less stable than the DF3. The ball also comes out much softer (and shorter) than the Oz1.i - There is going to be some minor adjustments/getting used to putter and I would rather not do that so close to tournament time.

Pros

- SS pistol grip felt really good and gave me more feel than the bigger LAB press pistol

- really nice end over end roll on the ball and provided a nice subtle click (i don't like the softness though)

- Putts inside 6-8 feet felt point and shoot, outside of that had some issues as written below

- the subtle milling on the face really does help frame the ball  - i really like the single line they went with

- feels/looks very high quality and the headcover really is a piece of art in terms of quality. Other OEMs can learn from this

- minimal onset compared to other ZT options made this feel a lot easier to adjust to from a traditional putter looks wise

Cons

- the insert was so soft and something I am not use to, so it felt like anything outside of 15 feet was left short. Had 3x 3 putts I can attribute all to leaving the first lag putt way too short.

- 70 degree lie angle made me feel like I really had to hug the ball and choke down a little to get my eyes over the ball in a natural position

- like the lab, will take time to get used to.

Playing again tomorrow, 50/50 if I take the TM out with me. I will give it ample time in the bag post tourney season, but for now im making too many putts and too confident with the LAB.

Is ther a reason you aren't bending the putter to get your desired lie angle?

Sorry, but what? Coming from a LAB ACCRA this KBS shaft is stiff as a board and I feel no deflection whatsoever. Maybe TPT is even stiffer so that's the difference?

Not sure as a I've never had the chance to roll that shaft but either way I am very surprised by this post. I played 9 holes yesterday on a local cow pasture with slow greens and with the amount of oomph to putt there the ZT shaft was extremely stable.

The member guest was this weekend so I’m basically in full recovery mode today but the TM ZT Spider was pretty much amazing. Picked it up on my way home on Wednesday and put it right in the bag for a 9 hole practice round Thursday morning before our par 2 tournament. I was a little nervous about it but ended up with 12 putts for the 9 and after that had zero doubt. I was all in. Since we were playing 27 friday and 18 Saturday I didn’t get putting stats but I made so many putts both days. The best way to sum this up for me is the Spider ZT was what I wanted the LAB OZi to be but it wasn’t. I had that feeling that every putt had a shot. The weight of the Spider is perfect which in contrast to the OZ’s heavy feel which never felt right. I really have nothing bad to say. The Spider has a much hotter face so there’s a little bit of an adjustment there but I was used to it pretty quickly. For me the feel of the face, the KBS shaft and insert were all perfect but I do agree with Doc above me. The shaft is really stout and much better than the LAB shafts I’ve tried but I’ve always been a fan of the KBS putter shaft. I feel like anyone coming from a Spider Tour will enjoy the ZT. It’s an easy transition from another ZT putter but also from a non ZT putter.

I was actually curious about this.  I've done the LAB remote fitting and was recommended to be in 35" long and 71° lie. That's pretty close to the stock 35" Spider ZT.  I'd definitely pick one up if the lie can be adjusted.

Just a random thought I think may be useful to anyone browsing this thread wondering if they should give the ZT-5K a try. If you are currently gaming a blade style putter and struggling from 10ft and closer then you should absolutely consider this putter. A lot of the comparisons from people are LAB putter vs the taylormade. I came from a blade putter to this and I already notice a huge difference from those ranges

The CB grip is straight through no offset. Sightline may be an option late in year when they allow customization
