Also, apologies if this was addressed already, but I'm curious if / how TM will highlight the lie angle aspect of these putters.  Obviously thats been LAB's calling card, but I'm curious if TM will offer an option to modify the lie angle to address a specific customer profile.  

70 degree lie and not adjustable. They can’t offer custom lie as putter won’t sit flush on the ground with the camber and that’s one of the things Jason day has been harping about for years to TM. Wants it to sit flush without manipulating putter - looking forward to testing this out in couple weeks

Thanks @Eren - that makes sense and probably don't have a scalable way to adjust for customers.  Regardless, looking forward to seeing this in testing in a couple weeks!

The only thing I’m actually bummed about is sounds like black steel shaft only, no shaft upgrades available

That’s not surprising given how big of a shop TM is - id venture to guess they will eventually expand offerings if demand is there.

Does anyone else find it a bit odd that the pricing will be in line with L.A.B ? Here in Australia at least the spiders are around $500 and lab is around $850ish. Considering the difference in fitting options and customisability the lab has I'm not sure where the increase in price point is justified from taylormade? I'm also a moron and there's probably a very valid obvious reason but what is it?

In the US the current TaylorMade Spider is $350.  An off the rack LAB is $450.  I would suspect the TaylorMade Zero Torque Spider comes in around $400.  That would make it comparable to the off the rack LAB.  I doubt they are targeting the custom builds which are over $600.

There really isn’t an off the rack  lab . You can get any lie you want for that $450 if you wait for the order. This TM  one being a fixed lie angle is a nonstarter .  Really can’t compare the two unless you fit a 70 degree lie angle. I’m at 77 with a non broom.

I tend to agree, but I won't pass judgement until I can hit it myself.  I'd be curious if they eventually allow for lie angle adjustments, and using the first run / model to understand demand.  I have to imagine moving to a "fully customizable" process like L.A.B. would be massively expensive for TM.  Let's hope they are able to adjust in the future and do a try compare between the two...

I’d bet the tour heads are different lie angles.  Might be wrong. But hard to believe they’re all just picking up same stick .

 Dicks and Golf Galaxy sell LAB with a 70 lie angle.  They don’t offer custom orders and this time.   That is what I am considering the off the rack putter.

100% - I'm speaking towards operationalizing adjusting the lie angle for the general public.

Question - if you are considering a LAB and your lie angle is not 70, why would you consider this?  Is it a timing issue? Or something else?

I am not currently looking for a LAB.  If I do buy one, I would get the proper lie.  My only point is LAB sells an off the rack putter.  I assume this the price point TaylorMade is targeting.

Are you sure it's 70? If so that's odd.

 

Stock orders from lab are 69. PGA Tour SS sells them at 69. That's where I bought my DF3.

they are 69, with 2degree pistol press grip.......i think they only do 34 and 35 inch ones as well but all are 69 degree's..... im sure everyone is aware they do a free video fit, and i did mine at 70 degrees and 35 inch and was told unless i want custom anything the stock one is perfect.

 

 

have not seen enough of the spider ZT , but i know we are kind of in the "early" stages of zero torque, and it seems as if we dont even have a firm definition of what zero torque looks like....some companies define it as a "toe up" putter and lab is the only to define it more as a gravity or plane balanced putter (see there revealer demo)....I personally dont know which is correct or if there is even a difference but if your a spider fan (i am not) this is 100% going to be your putter.

LAB is a toe up putter.

Anyone know the shaft lean on these? Is it like most LAB putters where’s its 2-3 degrees of shaft lean, or is it a traditional 0 degree lean?
