GD Raune Iron Shafts --I may do an 11th hour switch!

Anyone have experience with GD's new graphite iron shaft (just launched --- called the Raune)? I tried the 105 in a stiff today (they were actually 108) and absolutely loved them.

I own a set of 245s with Axiom 105s and was going to stick with the Axioms for my new set (Avoda). Although my dispersion with the LA Golf 105s (A Series) was tighter than the Axioms, I didn't like the feel as much. I saw the Ruane's hanging in the work area and my fitter said, "you need to try these, but you've got to wait another 15 minutes....the grips are still drying...." (he had just received them; GD just started shipping a few weeks ago). They were worth the wait.

FYI, while waiting, I also hit the LA Golf L-Series 120s and preferred them over the LA Golf A series 105s. So I rhetorically asked the fitter how that could be? I then hit the Raune's (105 S) and they actually felt closer to the 120s. So, I asked the question again (not rhetorically). And his answer made sense: The Raune's are a firm-firm-firm profile which emulates the heavier 120 provided the swing weights are similar, which they were. According to my fitter, he thinks the Raunes are a GD version of the LA Golf shafts, for whatever that's worth...

I recommend that you try these. I was warmed up and swinging a 7 iron mid 80s. For me, the Raune's seemed to split the difference on feel and they consistently delivered marginally better numbers, including more spin. They look great too (solid low gloss black... not much branding).

Anyone else try these?

I'd also love to hear how LA Golf's A-series compared to Axiom, especially in terms of feel.

Just took a look, and the 105's are actually 114g in the short irons, and 108-110 in the long irons, depending on flex.

The Axioms load more noticeably. For me, I feel a mid-bend profile. The LA Golf Shafts seem more boardy to me (not as active).

I’ve been gaming the Ruanes for a few years now and love them. Did you end up getting them?

Yes. I've been playing them a few months and just put them in a new set of P7 CBs. I like them. Do I like them better than the Axioms? It's close. Maybe. They're a little softer, but it's smoothed across the shaft, not isolated in the hand or tip --for me. Kind of reminds me of the feeling the old Fuji Evolution II had in a wood --like a whip.
