New Cobra King TEC hybrid?

I have a couple of the 2023 model in the bag and they are great. While the changes are not for me I understand why Cobra did it. They had a lot of overlap with hybrids so making the King Tec a smaller profile players type club makes sense. The 33 position Future Fit adapter of the DS Adapt hybrids should provide enough adjustment for those who liked the neutral/fade bias and large footprint of the previous generations.

This has a much better slimmed down profile.  I played both prior generations.  Very nice.

I know there was some cross over last release between the DS hybrids and the King Tec (3 weights), but I sort of wish they just kept the old oversized look, updated the visuals and HOT face and threw the new 33 adapter on it and called it a day. The '23 King Tec felt so good and inspired so much confidence, hard to beat it!

I agree completely but other than the new adapter there is not much that could be improved upon imo. The 23 model is so good! It's a bummer when an oem makes changes to a favorite club but in this case I understand. My two 23 King Tec Hybrids are staying put for a while. I will probably try the new one for fun but a small profile, workable hybrid is not for me. I have never cared for the square toe look so I am pretty much out on this one.

i'd be willing to order this sight unseen but i'm a little worried about it being too low spin and hot after seeing tests of the darkspeed online.  Is this supposed to be a little lower launching and spin more?  If so i might be pulling the trigger pretty quickly.

I was eyeing out the 2023 tec hybrids and didn't pull the trigger on them at that time.  I did get the DS Adapt 4h right when it came out not knowing there would be a newer update of the tec hybrids this year because really what I liked about the tec hybrids were the adjustable settings.

 

Still very pleased with the DS-Adapt as I really wasn't looking for a player hybrid more so than the ability to adjust loft at the upper end of my bag.

I was messing around with hybrids at the store today and they had ONE of these in stock in 4H but it still had the plastic on it so I didn't want to hit it. Shaping is very slim and the finish and cosmetics look fantastic. Hard to sell golf clubs if there are no demos and no marketing.

I had the new One Length versions in a 3 & 4 show up on Saturday.  I'll be outdoors later this week to test them for the first time.  The head on them is much larger then the normal length version.  Much closer to the way the one length hybrids have been the past couple versions.  Also, they are noticeably heavier than the previous one length hybrids I have hit.  Feels very solid and with the adaptor system having the adjustment will be a nice upgrade.

I have just got a 2H with Ventus 8S - this thing is a weapon. 

 

Deliberately bought to hit low bombs for the Links golf I play. Head is definitely smaller, I Sam getting a low fade which is very unusual for me because I do tend to hit the ball right left. I have it set at F3 which is actually 15.3, but again deliberate for the shot I want.

 

High 130s and a 140 ball speed for a hybrid is nuts for me. Driver is only 150 max when I hit it my very best 🤷‍♂️

 

I am very happy and will probably buy a 4H as well.

Have not been outdoors with them yet, just a couple times in the simulator playing.  Should be outside for practice later this week. (have to love MN springs).  But so far, I love them.  They are a bit heavier than the old One length I had, and they both seem to be about 15/20 yards longer in their stock settings.  I was playing the Aerojet one length before for comparison.  The 3 is most likely perfect as is for me and the 4 I will probably play with a bit to try and take just a touch of distance off to better gap to my irons.  But it was worth the added cost over the One Length Darkspeeds from last year to get the Tec's I think.

Thank you for the review and pictures! Does look noticeably smaller but might not be a bad thing. Might have to add a 3H and upgrade from 2021 king tec.

I have the ds adapt 3 hybrid set to 18 degres. Love it from the fairway! But also want a more player hybrid to be used from  "everywere" with the more iron head shape, so thinking about the King tec 4 hybrid turned up to maybe 23/24, and replace my 4 iron at the same time..what do you think about its ability to get in the air and hold greens? With maybe let's say a Tour AD DI shaft? How would that shaft perform to the stock MMT, any need? I have a stealt2 plus 3 hybrid lofted up max but its very low and fade bias. Just if anyone have some experience or input?😊

So I hit the #4 today, man this is a lower spin missile launcher.  It was too long for me so ordered the #5 today.  The trajectory and path was on target.  Feels great and the stock MMT shaft works great for my swing.

Curious, What are you comparing to? Love MMTs - great choice.

Sure, most of the higher number hybrids from OEM are draw bias, more upright,  higher spin, and/or larger heads.  The MMT shaft just fits my swing (I've got it in both of my UW clubs).  

 

Ping, Srixon, titleist, callaway (not many players hybrids in this loft).  I love the smaller head and shape of this head too (and the adjustability is a great asset) if needed.
