Wyndham Clark - we in or out?

Doesn’t seem like anyone is really divided on the locker issue.

And if we’re talking about things that aren’t a big deal, it’s the failed driver leak fiasco.

as another poster mentioned a simple “yea, it happens quite often as the club face degrades and I’m having to get used to a new driver” from Rory would have ended it right then and there.

Drivers fail every week on tour. So why do you think Rory’s was leaked? Because of this faux drama society caused by the media.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

Not the same thing. This isn’t a “gotcha”.

The picture was taken and leaked to the media to disparage him and tarnish his image. If someone did that to you, how would you feel? It’s completely unnecessary.

Wyndham has struggled with the mental game for years. It was a big part of his Full Swing eps. Seemed to figure some stuff out in 23 but with his game in a bad place it's not surprising to see the mental side fall off as well. Never like seeing guys struggle mentally; easy to say these guys have it all and should chill but mental stuff is a different animal.

I'd feel embarrassed by my actions and offer up whatever I could to try to rectify my behavior. Not get mad that my actions were exposed.

So the problem is not what he did, it's that someone decided to hold him accountable for it this time? But I agree this tarnishes his image & he doesn't need any help with that, he's quite capable of doing that on his own. In fact, if he didn't have a tarnished image (& a fluky U.S. Open title), he'd have no image at all

Maybe this type of behavior is not uncommon for Wyndham and some guys are sick of it.  This is a way to have his behavior brought to the forefront if he’s not otherwise held accountable.

Who has access to the locker room? Pros and members? It seems like a fellow pro probably tired of his **** or a member holding him accountable.

To answer your question, I’d be ashamed of my behavior, not mad at the photographer.

You’re assuming WC doesn’t feel the same way. So why would you wish that on him?

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

Not sure what hill you’re dying on here buddy. Also not sure what I’m wishing for…

Clark has been acting this way for some time, with accountability only when it gets to the press.

My initial thought. ‘Snitches get stitches’.

*Pardon me. Not typically up at 6:30am and not yet up to ‘operating pressure’ ️ Just my initial thought. I know us civilized and cultured adults don’t resort to such antiquated ideals 😊

If it was an isolated incident I may agree with you, but the act wears thin if it happens regularly.

It is incredible some that people defend pro golfers different than any other athletes.  Every other athelete deals with pre-and post game interviews.  They deal with the media members in the actual locker rooms interviewing them moments after tough losses.  They deal with fans screaming, tauning and booing them.

Clark is everything wrong with the pro golf player and fan/media relationship

Oh, I’m not saying that’s what my opinion is of how it should b handled.
It was just my initial, unfiltered, highly under caffeinated reaction.
Hopefully Wyndham gets the help he needs

At least he didn’t steal a national championship by illegally scouting other players matches and stealing their signs! 😊

Former U.S. Open champion accused of damaging historic Oakmont lockers [16 June 2025]

  • Clark’s manager, Rob Mougey, did not respond to a request for comment, and a USGA spokesperson told GOLF.com that in matters related to player conduct, “we work directly with players and their teams. In the event we have any information to share, we would do so at the appropriate time.”
  •
  • But a source familiar with the matter told GOLF.com that Clark has acknowledged being the perpetrator, and that an apology would be forthcoming.
  •
  • On Sunday, with word of the damaged lockers spreading around the club, several Oakmont members expressed a mix of disappointment and anger.
  •
  • “Whoever did it, I don’t know who the f— they think they are,” one longtime member told GOLF.com. If Clark indeed was responsible, the member added, “I’d be tempted to show up at his next tournament and heckle him on the tee. You know, something like, Hey, buddy, how about I come to your house and kick in the shower doors?”
  •
  • Another member, who was taking in the action inside the ropes Sunday evening, speculated that the members’ whose lockers were damaged would likely be in line for some form of restitution from Clark. “I wish he had done it to my locker,” the member joked.

That last bullet speaks a little bit to what I was thinking.

this is about accountability.  The tour is not holding them accountable for destroying tee markers or smashing the signage around the tee box.  (If they are, they aren’t publishing)

Rory, Wyndham, anyone in the top 100 is earning a million bucks in winnings a season and can afford to pay for the market they destroy or even a 1-10k fine like it’s nothing.

If the tours not ok with this, then they need to take action.  Other sports do it, and it’s been effective

I was lukewarm on him until reading the article this morning.  Turns out he has a temper that apparently he can't control.  A willingness, without thought to destroy property too, which leads me to wonder if that's all he's hitting when angry.  He said after his last outburst, it wouldn't happen again, yet it did.  Makes his word untrustworthy.  No interest, it's not a stretch to predict, he'll be in the new in the future.  Let's pray it's not for something worse.

Spoiled, entitled professional athletes that are surrounded by yes men that haven’t heard ‘no’ since 6th grade and can’t accept the consequences of their actions! What is this, the NBA or NFL?! 🤦🏼‍♂️

This is GOLF Wyndham!! Held to a higher standard. Get on board or GET OUT!!

Yup.  Golf is behind the curve on accountability.  NBA and nfl hit there players with some hefty fines and or suspensions for crap like this
