If someone started smashing lockers in our locker room in front of members, he’d get physically thrown out of the locker room and walked straight off the property.  Whether he got beat up or not would depend upon whether he chose to resist his expulsion from the clubhouse.  My guess is that someone angry enough to lose his mind and start destroying property at a facility at which he is a guest, is probably not going to go quietly.  So yes, I see it not working out well for him at our club.  Or many other clubs.

Oh okay. I’m just always curious when I hear ppl these days say they would hit or fight someone. As tempted as I may get by behavior that makes me wanna punch someone, I always take a breath and think  about jail and being sued. Makes me calm down really fast. Therefore I’d call security or the police in that case.
But hey, to each their own!

I know it sounds overblown but when you're in those locker rooms and see those lockers there's just something about them which just takes you back 100 years to when this game was in its relative infancy. It's a time capsule and it's best kept that way. Even a U.S. Open champion doesn't have the clout to trash them.

Can the R&A tell Clark to stay home?  I don’t see why any tournament director would want him in their field at this point in time.

Has there been any actual proof the Clark did this beyond the "multiple sources" cited by the original tweet?  It would be nice to be certain before he is drawn and quartered.

I completely concur with the thought of confirming the information before he is "drawn & quartered". It has been 3-4 days and not a peep from the Wyndham camp. If he didn't do what he is accused of, no way he wouldn't respond. There is just no evidence to suggest he isn't the culprit here.

I believe it was reported that he acknowledged it. I believe his camp was preparing to deal with the fall out.

 

I just heard that on PGA Tour radio yesterday from some of the talking heads. No article or written reporting to support on my end.

Tron Carter and the rest of NLU are all on the Titleist payroll, as is Wyndham Clark.

I'm no fan of the whole NLU shtick, but am I really expected to believe that Carter would make such a false accusation against another rep of one of his primary benefactors? Making such a libelous claim with no possible benefit? This is some kind of half-baked witch hunt against Clark?

Nah, let’s just all accept his imminent ‘I’m taking some time away from the game to become a better person’ fauxpology and move on.  It was just violent destruction of private property in one of the most legendary clubhouses in golf.  No need for us to overreact and expect him to be held accountable.  Let’s face it, as a multi-millionaire who’s never worked a day in his life and plays a game for a living, he’s under a lot of pressure.  Boys will be boys and all that.

I’ve seen far worse, just have him pay for the lockers and move on. They weren’t that nice to begin with. And I’m sure no one here has EVER done anything stupid out of anger….

Believe it or not people (most) appreciate old wooden historical pieces. One could even say theirs entire industries and careers based on that type of stuff.

So I got paired with Wyndham at the Pro-Am at the Memorial at Muirfield roughly a month ago.  He played the front 9 with us, so I spent a couple of hours with him.  He was really great during that time.  Very engaged, fun to walk the course with, and very pleasant in general.  Totally different than the guy we hear about.  Obviously seems that he has some anger management issues;  I would also say that as an outside observer, it does not appear that he handles the stress of tournament golf very well, which is why he maybe totally different in a Pro-Am, when there is no tournament pressure.  He also played really well in the Pro-Am, when there is no pressure.  We all know that he has a sports psychologist who has helped him in the past; he may need to schedule more sessions with her.

Guessing somehow those volunteers slipped through the rigorous volunteer vetting process used to assign driving range volunteers.
